A
A
Good

on

of
the
Board
of
Trustees
and
the
entire
Wentworth
community
faculty

Friends

A
We
also
welcome
the
special
guests
and
friends
at
the
University
who
have
joined
us
here,
including
mayor
Marty,
Walsh,
state,
representative,
China,
Tyler
and
boston
city,
councilor,
Kim,
Janie
and
Josh
potato.
Thank
you.
I
want
to
acknowledge.
Mark
friends
and
former
colleagues
were
made
a
special
trip
to
be
by
his
side
this
morning,
including
dr.
A
Wentworth
has
seen
a
lot
of
progress.
In
recent
years
we
became
an
official
University
and
built
a
center
for
engineering
and
and
sciences.
We
appointed
a
new
present
and
the
institution
last
month
posted
its
highest
ranking
ever
than
the
top
publication
for
records
in
the
country.
Us

Edition,
Mark
Thompson,
has
been
Mark.
Thompson
has
the
boat
leadership
to
keep
Wentworth
moving
forward
in
challenging
times
that
delivered.
He
has
the
personal
and
professional
qualities.

All
the
principal
figures
from
the
great
religions,
where
teachers
we've
revered
in
those
prophets
and
Messiah
and
exemplars
of
spiritual
behaviors.
But
they
started
as
teachers
and
I'd
like
to
think
that
we
still
dress
up
in
these
medieval
roles
of
are
decorated,
with
our
institutional
insignia
and
important
moments
like
this.
In
recognition
of
that
spiritual
origin.
And
if
you
think
of
all
the
moments
in
our
professional
lives,
when
we
dress
up
in
our
regalia
and
we
meet
with
special
purpose
in
part,
they
all
come
up
with
some
important
rite
of
passage.
They
commit.
F

Interesting
thing
in
moderate
has
its
origins
in
the
taking
of
Audrey's,
usually
by
ripping
open
the
entrails
of
birds.
We
will
not
be
revealed
in
any
breeze
here
today.
Be
assured
that,
but
we
do
wish
to
heal
the
moment
when
two
destinies
come
together
to
augur
a
bright
future
for
this
institution
and
its
citizens
in.
B
F
President
Thomson
strategic
vision
for
planetary
Itza
definitely
the
original
ceremonies.
When
the
auguries
of
old
were
presented,
the
human
work
was
consecrated
to
a
divine
purpose,
thereby
ensuring
the
prosperity
and
success
of
the
hope
for
the
succeeding
years.
It
is
our
hope
and
intention
that
the
installation
of
dr.
mark
thompson
is
the
new
president
of
this
August
institution
represents
precisely
this
outcome
for
wintering
over
the
next
decades
of
its
important
work
and
again
warm
welcome
to
all
of
you.
Congratulations.
A
A
G
Thank
you
very
much
right,
Jamie
and
the
entire
Wentworth
community
for
inviting
me
to
share
this
very
special
occasion
today.
It's
my
honor
to
be
here
on
behalf
of
the
City
of
Boston,
along
which
they
represent,
trying
to
tire
them
who
you'll
hear
from.
In
a
few
minutes:
City
Council's,
community
city
councillors,
charts
taken
all
the
residents
of
Roxbury
Fenway
and
that's
not,
then
they
here
today
as
well.
So
it's
exciting.
This
is
an
important
day
for
Wentworth
and
it's
a
significant
day
for
Boston
as
well.
G
Everyone
here
knows
that
colleges
and
universities
are
a
vital
part
of
Boston's
identity
in
our
success.
They
produced
the
knowledge
and
the
talent
that
has
moved
on
to
the
forefront
of
the
global
innovation
economy.
They
bring
others
driven
youth
from
all
over
the
world
to
energize
about
culture
and
certainly
energized
our
workforce.
When
occupies
a
unique
place
in
this
landscape,
you
focus
on
career
preparation
and
growing
industries
and
technology
engineering
and
design.
You
look
like
five,
hands-on
learning
and
job
experiences.
G
The
graduates
are
taking
our
city
and
our
world
taking
on
our
city
and
our
biggest
challenges
from
climate
change
to
housing,
design.
Wentworth
and
Boston
are
growing
and
thriving
together.
What
my
truck
priorities
for
colleges
and
universities
in
the
final
edition
of
our
communities
when
we're
at
is
certainly
a
leader
in
this
space.
You
provide
job
training
programs
for
our
residents
here
in
the
city
of
loss
statement.
G
You
are
for
dual
enrollment
front:
young
people,
the
school
system,
your
record,
graduating
austin,
public
school
high
school
graduates
in
job
placements
is
outstanding,
but
our
world
continues
to
change
and
our
world
continues
to
evolve.
So
I
got
this
shift,
keep
growing
as
well,
and
it's
a
fitting
moment
right
now
for
the
new
president
to
step
in
and
growth,
it's
University's
vision,
dr.
Thompson
and
all
the
EO
will
appear
for
this.
You
have
experience
and
university
leadership
and
you
have
expertise
in
urban,
economic
development
and
I
know.
G
You
have
something
more
ient
role
that
your
wife
Karen
is
an
early
educator.
Your
daughter
Elizabeth
is
a
social
worker
at
Mass
General
and
your
other
daughter.
Karen
works.
Our
special
needs
students
in
Brighton,
so
your
family
is
already
lifting
up
our
city,
dr.
Thompson,
I
hope
you
can
live
up
to
the
example.
A
chef.
G
When
Worth's
president
plays
a
major
role
in
our
city,
you
try
to
force
the
thousands
of
students,
many
launched
partnership
that
empowers
of
our
communities.
You
also
join
a
select
group
of
leaders.
The
university
college
presidents,
here
in
Boston
in
the
world's
leaders
in
education,
I
call
that
knowledge
and
often
to
discuss
issues
like
Public,
Safety,
housing,
community
relations,
immigration
law,
k-12
education,
job
training
and
try
to
use
the
expertise
on
the
different
campuses
to
help
advance
Boston.
So
I
will
be
calling
on
you.
B
G
A
Thank
you
very
much

I
have
a
pleasure
now

a

of
issues,
including
economic

civic

We
are
very
happy
to
have

here
with
us.

I
am,
as
Greg
mentioned,
the
director
throughout
this
of
institutional
effectiveness
year,
I've
been
working
here
for
nearly
six
years
and
in
that
time
I've
been
part
of
exciting
and
continued
development,
including
the
addition
of
multiple
masters
degrees
programs,
new
instructional
locations
and
shepherding
the
process
of
becoming
an
official
university
of
all
the
great
work
that
has
happened
in
recent
years.
This
presidential
transition
is
for
me
the
most
motivating
and
hopeful
development
and
I'm
honored
to
be
part
of
it.

Creating
the

in
which
students,
faculty
and
staff
feel
safe,
seen,
heard
and
respected
this
inauguration
celebration
is
really
merely
a
formal
recognition
of
what
many
of
my
world
have
already
realized.
Their
mark
was
ready
to
leave
him
courageously
and
be
a
daring
leader
for
the
future.
Welcome
mark.
We
look
forward
to
working
as

morning,
I

I
have
been
teaching
at
Wentworth
for
over
10
years,
but
this
morning
marks
the
first
presidential
transition
I
have
witnessed,
as
is
true
for
many
of
the
faculty
on
behalf
of
the
faculty.
I
would
like
to
welcome
president
Thomson
this
new
role
as
leader
of
the

Institute
of

J
When
the
search
for
a
new
president
began.
The
prime
characteristic
the
faculty
requested
was
for
someone
with
a
commitment
to
shared
governance
and
a
vision
for
the
future
that
they
could
articulate
in
such
a
way
as
to
inspire
all
of
us
to
help
make
their
vision
a
reality.
We
have
excellent
students
engaged
to
staff
and
exceptional
faculty.
We,
the
faculty
envision,
president
Thomson,
making
the
case
for
Wentworth
to
the
world.
J
President
Thompson
is
moving
swiftly
with
optimistic
urgency
to
produce
a
two-floor
in
the
wetware
that
will
continue
to
thrive
throughout
his
tenure
and
beyond
the
faculty.
The
one
with
its
new
technology
are
ready
and
willing
to
offer
our
energies,
our
ideas
and
our
enthusiasm
to
our
new
president
Mark
Thompson.

Good
morning,
everyone
what
a
wonderful
day
to

my
name
is

I
am
honored
to
be
here
as
the

To
welcome
you
on
behalf
of
our
more

thousands

It
is
my

to
be
part
of
this
very
special
inauguration
ceremony.
President
Thomson,
we
stand
with
you
as
you
continue
to
move
members
in
the
direction
it
needs
to
go.
B
You
have
it's

you

yes,
sometimes
even
chapter

our
history
is
a
proud

full
of

from
our
humble

as

through
our

continue
to

and
prepare
for
our

as
an
important

K
Good
morning,
everyone,
my
name,
is
Rosa
County,
a
chair
of
the
university
advisors.
It's
my
honor
to
speak
on
behalf
of
the
university
advisors,
for
this
very
esteemed
group,
I've
been
in
often
wentworth
for
the
past
15
years,
both
as
a
student
and
alumna
of
the
construction
management
program
and
as
an
active
participant
here
in
wentworth.
I
have
served
as
president
of
the
web
rental
of
my
association,
chair
of
the
golf
committee,
women
in
wentworth
program
and
had
the
honour
of
receiving
both
the
Alumni
appreciation
who
work
and
most
recently
the
golden
leopard
award.
K
K
On
the
transition
of
the
corporation
to
university
advisors
and
led
this
effort
to
work
with
our
then
co-operators
president's
office,
chair
of
the
Governance
Committee-
and
we
have
been
patiently
waiting
for
this
day
to
come,
we're
ready
to
roll
up
our
sleeves
and
get
to
work
on
fulfilling
the
charge
established
for
the
university
advises
program.
I
have
seen
the
great
purpose
and
progress
of
our
Institute
as
it
grew
into
a
university.
K
D
K
E
E
Ago,
when
I
met
a
little
safety,
bus,
cow,
Caron,
Butler
and
we
were
doing
work
in
the
Mission
Hill
project
and
I,
remember,
asking
Sammy
could
I
can
throw
to
Mission
Hill,
come
to
wet
work
and
take
computer
classes
and
sanding
met
with
the
faculty.
They
said
yes
demet.
After
that
we
asked
to
pay
for
breakfast
and
lunch
which
they
did,
but
for
28
years.
E
You
know
they
expect
this
history
of
wet
work,
opening
up
its
doors
to
the
product
community,
not
just
the
classroom
space
but
the
field,
but
also
to
the
faculty
and
as
I
evolved
that
my
work
is
involved
to
the
organization
I
thought
now.
The
bait
this
place
here
has
been
a
place
of
promise
another
it's
going
to
place.
Why
young
folks
that
come
here
and
see
the
potential
possibilities
when
you
go
to
this
city?
As
the
mayor
says
this
world.
E
Cranes
in
the
sky
everywhere,
and
that
the
opportunity
for
our
young
clubs
and,
in
particular
young
black
and
Latino
young
men
and
women,
tempted
access
to
economic
opportunities
for
the
future
is
significant,
and
that
is
the
place
of
one
word
and
that
I
have
a
chance
meet
this
guy.
My
touch
and
a
couple
of
things
above
mark
sweeping
impressions,
one
the
first
time
we
met,
he
asked
you
for
fighting
and
he
provided
breakfast
like
movie
was
good.
E
The
second
time
is,
we
went
to
hang
out
with
the
rap
young
folks,
and
you
know
one
of
the
things
you
can
see.
You
can
see
leadership,
you
can
see
flow
and
you
can
see
purpose
and
all
of
a
sudden.
The
mark
walk,
didn't
all
be
comfortable
to
walk
towards
and
he's
greeted
with
them.
He
shaking
hands
and
he
was
being
written
that
he
was
being
up
there
and
he
has
since
both
vision
he
had
sufficient
to
carry.
He
has
his
mission
of
shifting
dinero
and
seeing
them
as
success.
E
Him
a
little
bit
more
because
and
Samara
was
saying:
we
need
the
power
of
academics,
the
power
of
business
in
the
power
of
government
that
comes
together,
and
that
is
the
greatness
of
our
city,
but
as
I
think,
it's
two
quotes
that
come
to
mind
and
one
of
them
starts
up.
Some
people
covered
some
people
go
Marcus
come
so
let's
go.
E
A
Well,
thank
you
all
for
your
very
thoughtful
remarks,
really
wonderful.
The
state
of
breadth
of
our
communities-
that's
represented
here
today,
now
I'm,
going
to
turn
the
podium
over
to
Michael
masters,
a
Wentworth
of
honorary
degree,
the
city
and
chair
of
the
board
of
trustees,
who
will
proceed
with
the
investiture
of
dr.
Marc,
Thompson.
L
Morning,
everyone
I
now
saw
a
Thompson
to
come.
Join
me
at
the
center
of
the
stage
dr.
Johnson
water
trustees
based
on
input
from
across
my
university
community.
Following
the
recommendation
of
a
diverse
cross
institutional
Presidential,
Search
Committee
has
selected
you
to
serve
as
a
fifth
president.
L
B
L
L
A
M
My
first
exposure
to
Wentworth
actually
came
during
my
two
dear
year
of
high
school
one
of
those
college
fairs.
We
walk
around
to
other
tables,
get
a
bunch
of
free
pens,
I
kind
of
thing
I
went
with
my
trusty
best
friend,
Sam
Sigmund,
the
type
of
guy
you
rely
on
for
advice.
We
came
by
the
way
with
table
when
it
stopped
me.
So
it's
you,
a
big
WI
team
right
there
in
the
bear
see
that's
cool.
You
need
a
lot
of
weight
to
go
to
that
next
down
sure
enough.
M
We
walked
right
by
the
table
and
what
birth
didn't
come
back
into
the
language
until
my
senior
year
of
high
school
or
at
the
very
end
decision
week,
I
toured
the
University
and
I
found
a
crucial
difference,
because
here
at
Wentworth
it
didn't
matter
that
I
study,
business
I,
could
still
use
the
manufacturing
level.
I
could
still
take
a
computer
science
course
and
I
still
had
access
to
all
the
same
resources.
Anyone
else
in
any
major
happening
here
at
Wentworth.
The
limits
do
not
exist
in
jr.
D
B
M
Mark
Thompson
would
be
the
next
president
Wentworth.
There
was
daijobu
a
junior
year
new
president,
just
like
every
other
school's
president.
Don't
get
me
wrong.
The
other
presidents
are
great.
However,
I
wasn't
ready
for
what
was
about
to
happen,
thanks
to
where
we're
gonna
find
myself
constantly
using
the
scientific
method
thanks
dr.
Stockman.
D
M
Went
up
to
his
office
to
share
an
idea
with
them
that
I
thought
you'd
really
appreciate
hearing
about.
Unfortunately,
it
wasn't
there
even
so
a
woman
in
his
office,
Amy
intially,
took
me
in
and
listened
to
my
pitch
for
a
whole
15
minutes
afterward.
She
had
me
send
her
a
write-up
I
was
pretty
excited
about
having
been
listening
to,
but
I
figured
that
would
be
ended
it.
M
M
He
walked
up
to
you
and
said
Joe.
Do
you
have
a
few
minutes
to
talk?
Did
you
hear
that
Joe?
Do
you
have
time
for
me
not
the
other
way
around.
That
makes
a
huge
difference.
We
spent
the
next
several
minutes.
Talking
together,
as
we
sat
down
to
shuffle
some
papers
could
reveal
my
proposal
printed
out.
Writing
on
he
spent
those
several
minutes.
Listening
to
me
ask
you
questions,
but
never
once
telling
you.
Why
might
I
do
it
wouldn't
work
or
why
it
couldn't
be
implemented
here
at
Wentworth,
he's.
D
M
They
say
that
behind
every
great
person
is
an
equally
great
support
system,
so
thank
you,
Karen
for
bringing
such
an
amazing
superior
to
what
were
actually
the
first
time
I
met.
Karen
was
an
accelerator.
She
came
in
because
one
of
the
shirt
that
one
of
the
buttons
on
her
shirt
becometh,
but
she
needed
us,
so
we
deliver
it.
M
M
So
that,
in
her
words
we
prepared
next
time
this
is
Thompson's
amazing.
The
president
Thompson
he's
for
real
I
want
to
take
the
last
few
minutes
that
I'm
up
here
to
call
out
another
thing
with
individuals,
students
now
I
get
it
you're
taking
20
credit
classes.
You're
writing
three
books.
You've
got
practice
in
the
evening.
A
N
Good
morning
and
welcome
I'm
honored
by
your
presence
here
today
and
I
want
to
start
by
thanking
my
family
members.
They've
seen
me
at
my
best
they've
see
me
at
my
worst,
but
whether
I'm,
at
my
best,
my
worst
or
somewhere
in
between
their
support,
has
been
a
constant
for
which
I'm
grateful
I
want
to
thank
my
mother,
my
sister,
their
love
and
encouragement
throughout
my
life,
mom
and
Steph
understand.

N
N
Faculty
staff
alumni
board
members,
university
advisors,
industry,
community
partners
in
esteemed
guests,
I
am
deeply
honored
and
thankful
for
the
privilege
of
serving
as
Wentworth
Institute
of
Technology's.
Fifth
president
and
I
thank
all
of
you
for
entrusting
me
with
the
responsibility
of
leading
this
university.
N
N
To
date
of
this
great
University,
there
is
no
doubt
that
we
have
much
to
be
proud
of.
Wentworth
has
a
remarkable
history
and
most
certainly
has
a
bright
future.
I
stand
before
you
today,
confident
that
Wentworth
is
in
a
position
of
strength.
We
offer
the
educational
programs
which
there's
a
strong
labor
market
demand.
We
are
committed
to
applied
learning,
we
have
highly
dedicated
faculty
and
staff,
and
our
institutional
and
community
partnerships
are
strong.
All
of
this
contributes
to
producing
graduates,
fine
I'm,
told
time
and
time
again
bring
extraordinary
value
into
the
world.
N
My
sense
of
urgency
comes
from
the
recognition
that
higher
education
is
facing
many
head
bins,
and
we
must
do
now
to
building
the
firm
foundation
of
the
EPS
pure
vibrant
future.
I
want
to
start
by
taking
us
back
to
July
15
1960
that
day
late
afternoon,
in
sunny
Los,
Angeles
California,
then
Senator.
N
His
presidential
nomination
acceptance
speech
at
the
Democratic
National
Convention.
At
the
time
the
nation
was
challenged
by
significant
problems,
including
the
spread
of
communism,
proliferation
of
nuclear
arms
and
racial
unrest,
coupled
with
the
fact
that
substantial
proportion
of
the
population
was
living
in
poverty,
it's
no
wonder
that
JFK
described
the
country
is
facing
serious
challenges,
burdensome
responsibilities,
but
also
great
opportunities.
N
The
indicated
the
world
is
changing
if
the
country
was
standing
on
the
edge
of
a
new
frontier,
a
frontier
of
unknown
opportunities
and
perils.
He
said
the
new
frontier
is
here
whether
we
seek
it
or
not
beyond
that
frontier
of
uncharted
areas,
and
that
in
response
would
be
easier
to
shrink
from
that
new
frontier.
Look
for
the
safe
mediocrity
of
the
past,
but
he
said
the
times
require
imagination
and
courage
and
perseverance.
N
He
asked
the
American
people
be
pioneers
toward
that
new
frontier.
He
said
we
can
have
faith
in
our
future
only
if
we
have
faith
in
ourselves.
The
harsh
facts
of
the
matter
are
that
we
stand
at
a
turning
point
of
history.
While
he
indicated
the
nation
was
faced
with
a
choice
between
national
greatness
and
national
decline
between
the
fresh
air
of
progress
and
the
stale,
dank
atmosphere
of
normalcy
between
determined
dedication
and
creeping
mediocrity.
This
was
a
speech
that
reflected
optimistic
urgency.
N
N
N
Particularly
private
education,
it's
facing
increasingly
difficult
challenges.
There
are
fewer
high
school
graduates.
Increasing
questions
about
the
value
of
higher
education
is
providing
concerns
over
the
cost
of
education,
States
implementing
plans
for
free
college
tuition,
price
cutting
among
competitors.
That
list
goes
on
as
a
private
institution.
In
this
market
we
are
facing
their
own
new
frontier,
with
uncharted
territories,
challenges,
responsibilities
and
yes,
opportunities.
N
Horse
founder
and
Arriaga
at
Wentworth,
Wentworth
Institute
was
founded
in
1904
as
a
result,
a
revision
to
his
will,
seven
weeks
before
his
death.
He
indicated
his
desire
to
organize
a
corporation
to
be
known
as
Institute
for
the
purpose
of
furnishing
education.
Mechanical
products
Arriaga
carved
out
a
market
niche
when
he
added
this
to
his
well
1903.
N
N
Despite
this
cup
of
market,
there
are
plenty
of
opportunities
that
Wentworth
is
uniquely
positioned
to
successfully
pursue
going
back
to
Marriott's
vision
as
a
1904.
We
need
to
be
imaginative
and
creative
and
have
faith
in
ourselves
at
this
important
point
and
our
institutional
history.
We
must
be
optimistic,
move
forward
with
a
sense
of
urgency
and
recognize
that
much
of
what
needs
to
be
done,
cannon
will
be
done,
is
in
fact,
under
our
control.
N
D
N
The
mission
I've
already
seen
its
empathize
in
our
planning
process
is
just
another
example
of
our
tradition
of
vulvas
and
courageousness.
This
university
has
a
long
history
of
being
bold
and
courageous,
evident
in
the
various
iterations
of
its
development.
Joint
is
every
koala
recipe
for
just
a
moment.
Wentworth
has
beginning
soon
its
establishment
school
in
1904
to
becoming
one
of
the
first
technical
institutes,
Doppler
associate's
degrees
and
then
back
Laurie
degrees
went
worse.
History
includes
the
admission
of
women
nearly
50
years
ago,
and
the
establishment
of
co-op
education,
which
remains
a
hallmark
for
Wentworth
education.
N
N
All
bold
steps
stated
by
courageous
people
at
this
point
in
our
history.
We
must
recognize,
understand
and
accept
the
realities
in
the
world
in
which
we
live.
We
are
not
new
to
market
forces.
What
we
are
is
up
to
the
challenge
of
understanding
the
issues
we
face
and
effectively
responding
to
them
and
I
think
we
should
recognize
that
we
are
well
situated
in
our
ability
to
make
necessary
change.
Our
efforts
must
be
directed
towards
distinguishing
ourselves
further
by
conveying
a
compelling
value
proposition
in
this
competitive
market
place.
A
clear,
distinctive,
Ilia
proposition
is
imperative.
N
Students
and
families
are
asking
of
all
my
choices.
Why
you
are
you
worth?
The
investment
show
me.
Why
be
a
part
of
my
message
to
incoming
students
is
that
they
are
at
a
turning
point
in
their
lives,
a
critical
juncture,
as
they
enter
an
important
transition
period
from
childhood
to
adulthood.
I
share
with
them
at
this
point
your
lives.
This
is
one
of
the
points
in
their
lives.
The
decision
and
choices
made
evident
during
the
impact
on
future
success.
N
Their
success
depends
on
how
they
go
about
building
on
their
strengths,
which
likely
requires
a
different
approach
to
things
among
them
is
to
be
an
active
participant
in
the
design
of
their
own
future.
I
told
them.
They
have
significant
control
over
their
own
success
and
they're,
clearly
capable
of
achieving
whatever
bold
ambition
they
decide
to
pursue.
The
recognition
of
the
challenges
we
face
is
an
institution
I
share
a
similar
message
with
all
of
you
Wentworth
the
second
critical
juncture
history.
N
It's
a
point
where
the
decision
to
choice
today
will
have
an
enduring
impact
on
the
future,
our
institution
we
must
hold
on
our
strengths,
which
likely
requires
a
different
approach
to
things.
Your
active
participation
of
the
change
is
necessary
to
solidly
position
our
University,
the
end
of
group
results
is
critical.
We
are
the
architects,
engineers
and
designers
of
our
own
destiny.
I,
ask
that
we
be
pioneers
together
as
we
advance
toward
our
new
frontier
and
to
be
gracious
involved
in
doing
so.
N
Constituency
of
working
on
webcourse
new
strategic
plan
and
I've
been
clear
about
my
expectations
that
the
plan
be
bold
and
transformative,
because
market
forces
are
such
incremental.
Changes
will
not
result
in
Wentworth
reaching
its
full
potential
and
not
secure
a
thriving
future.
Following
numerous
numerous
discussions
with
faculty
staff,
students,
industry,
community
partners
and
alumni
we're
developing
a
new
plan
for
the
future,
with
four
areas
of
strategic
focus.
D
N
Focus
is
inclusive
excellence.
This
has
been
put
first
intentionally.
This
might
is
my
firm
belief
that
Wentworth
will
reach
its
full
potential.
Only
of
every
member
of
our
university
community
is
valued
engaged
in
support
in
the
ways
needed
to
reach
their
full
potential.
This
is
in
part
about
fulfilling
our
economic
mission.
We
look
at
the
educational
outcomes
most
desired
by
employers
such
as
critical
and
creative
thinking,
innovation
of
problem-solving
and
awareness
and
experience
with
diverse
cultures.
N
N
Education
has
been
called
the
great
equalizer,
and
our
commitment
to
inclusive
excellence
includes
opening
the
doors
all
who
seek
to
reach
their
potential
I'm
deeply
saddened
and
concerned
about
the
increasing
levels
of
divisiveness
and
overt
calls
to
exclude
various
groups
of
people
in
our
nation.
It's
hard
to
understand
why
human
kindness
is
so
elusive,
for
so
many.
N
N
N
While
many
in
America
found
themselves
out
of
work
and
struggling
to
make
ends
meet
during
the
Great
Depression
Wentworth
graduates
were
able
to
weather
this
economic
storm
because
they
had
the
skills
to
remain
relevant
and
in-demand.
Despite
the
downturn
hands-on
high
value
learning,
which
allows
many
students
to
move
seamlessly
from
their
coop
and
accompany
right
into
you,
they
full-time
job.
We
also
know
that
it
wears
care
less
and
less
about
what
someone
knows.
N
Instead,
they
want
to
know
what
value
one
can
create,
but
what
they
know,
it's
no
longer
enough
to
simply
know
something,
but
rather
how
to
apply
that.
So
this
is
a
call
to
extend
the
benefits
associated
with
applied.
Learning
with
an
understanding
of
skills
will
be
most
valued
in
a
technology
economy.
N
There's
an
increased
concern
about
technological
unemployment
or
the
putting
people
out
of
work
going
forward.
We
must
prepare
graduates
for
success
in
an
era
of
artificial
intelligence
and
automation,
skills
that
will
be
of
the
highest
value
ones
than
true
technology
and
how
technology
is
utilized.
The
labor
force
of
the
future
will
need
to
be
able
to
couple
human
intelligence
and
machine
intelligence
and
do
in
magical
ways.
N
We
have
the
right
programs,
but
we
need
to
ensure
the
education
provided
within
these
programs,
produces
graduates
with
the
skills
and
include
creativity,
problem-solving,
people
management
as
well
as
social
and
emotional
intelligence.
This
will
require
us
to
examine
and
shake
up
how
we
deliver
education
from
curricular
requirements
to
pedagogy
success
in
the
future.
Labor
market
will
depend
on
one's
ability
to
engage
the
big-picture
thinking,
including
the.
N
B
N
Pursue
opportunities
and
workforce
skills,
development
and
ongoing
certifications
assist
regional
businesses
to
do
this,
leadoff
of
programs
to
eliminate
boundaries
of
time
place
in
Modell's.
We
must
commit
doing
whatever
it
takes
to
provide
high
value.
Learning
third
area
of
focus
is
in
providing
an
exceptional
overall
student
experience.
The
purpose
of
higher
education
numbered
ways,
but
my
personal
philosophy
is
that
we're
in
the
business
of
transforming
lives
that
carries
with
it
a
high
level
of
responsibility
and
that
spirit,
I,
believe
whimpers
commitment
to
students
goes
beyond
academics.
N
We
have
a
responsibility,
disputed
well-being,
equality
and
all
aspects
of
the
student
experience.
This
will
require
us
to
make
significant
improvements
and
a
host
of
services
to
students,
first
and
foremost,
at
a
very
basic
level.
We
need
to
ensure
that
students
who
choose
to
live
on
campus
have
a
safe
and
welcoming
place
to
live
and
nourish
include
to
eat.
This
includes
developing
institutional
support
systems
and
resources
for
students
who
may
experience
periods
of
homelessness
or
food
insecurity
during
their
time
with
us.
Another.
N
Issue
centers
around
the
students,
mental
and
physical
well-being
in
recent
years,
within
a
surge
of
students
suffering
from
mental
health
concerns.
The
American
Psychological
Association
reports
that
more
than
one-third
of
college
freshmen
experience,
a
mental
health
concern,
the
most
common
are
depression
and
anxiety
and
40%
do
not
seek
help.
It's
my
hope
that
we
become
the
exemplars,
a
higher
education
and
how
they
respond
to
this
crisis,
well,
also
implementing
proactive
strategies
that
help
again
I
address
concerns
before
they
escape.
N
Finally,
we
need
to
identify
remove
needless
barriers
and
outdated
practices
that
stand
in
the
way
of
students
fully
engaging
in
their
college
experience.
We
have
a
responsibility
to
do
all
we
can
to
support
students
such
as
they
can
focus
on
their
academic
pursuits
and
take
with
them
the
full
value
of
their
educational
experience.
We
must
do
whatever
it
takes,
provide
an
exceptional
student
experience.
N
The
fourth
and
final
focus
area
is
next-generation
partnerships.
Wentworth
enjoys
strong
partnerships
in
industry
with
our
community
and
with
our
alumni,
developing
and
implementing
strategies
to
expand
and
maximize
the
mutual
benefits
of
these
partnerships
is
critical
to
our
future.
We
must
expand
industry
participation
in
curriculum
design
and
the
delivery
of
education
to
ensure
we
consistently
update
on
industry
trends
in
providing
the
highest
value
to
students.
In
turn,
we
can
provide
training
and
development
as
like
than
play
on
learning.
It
would
be
more
and
more
important
over
time
done.
N
Well,
collaboration
with
industry
partners
enhances
innovation
through
engaging
students
and
faculty
Anderson
partners
will
benefit
the
creativity
needed
to
solve
complex
problems,
drive
economic
growth
and
create
a
more
skilled
workforce.
Another
benefit
centers
around
the
university
assisting
industry
partners
in
achieving
their
goals
and
diversifying,
of
course,
working
together.
We
can
implement
initiatives
recruit.
A
more
diverse,
diverse
student
body
will
be
well-prepared
to
transition
as
full-time
employees
with
our
partner
companies.
I
also
feel
strongly
that
universities
have
a
responsibility
to
be
good
neighbors
and
to
be
of
service
in
the
community
in
which
they
reside.
There.
N
We're
working
with
area
schools,
we
are
achieving
great
success
to
presenting
the
college
experience
area,
bicycle
students,
assisting
them
in
successful
transition
to
college,
providing
financial
assistance
and
the
support
necessary
to
complete
their
degree
program.
Given
this
record
of
success,
I'd
like
to
substantially
expand
the
scope
of
our
work
around
the
college,
access
persistence
and
completion
regarding
our
alumni,
a
responsibility
to
you
does
not
end
at
commencement
and
recognition
and
the
skill
stage
will
change
over
time.
N
We
must
provide
you
with
opportunities
to
fine-tune
and
develop
skills
over
the
course
of
your
lifetime
and
in
return.
I
would
ask
you
to
support
us
in
recruiting
and
mentoring
our
students,
as
well
as
finding
them
greater
opportunities
for
coops
and
employment
upon
graduation.
We
must
do
whatever
it
takes,
develop
next-generation
partnerships.
N
Let
me
finish
with
this.
As
a
young
boy,
I
attended,
Sunday
school
regularly,
I
loved
Wanda's
high
school
reason
was
there's
always
a
huge
midday
meal
that
Bob
at
Sunday
school
I
was
told
the
story
of
David
and
Goliath.
This
presentin
is
a
story
about
the
importance
of
faith
for
those
less
familiar.
Typical
typical
account
presents
the
story
in
a
way
that
leads
us
to
believe
that
the
result
is
unlikely.
N
The
young
shepherd
boy
David
representing
the
Israelites,
absent
armor,
but
Rocksmith
sling
defeats
a
huge
well
every
giant
of
a
man
Goliath
a
battle-hardened
warrior
representing
the
Philistines
and
equipped
with
javelin
spear
and
sword.
I
was
led
to
believe
that
David
prevailed
in
this
lopsided
battle,
because
God
has
back
the
story
about
the
fake,
but
then
I
read
nothing
Gladwell
book
David,
a
big
Goliath
underdogs,
miss
myths
in
the
arc
feminine
Giants
Gladwell
argues
David's
defeated
Goliath
shouldn't
come
as
a
big
surprise.
N
N
Prevailed
through
a
combination
of
innovatively
applying
his
own
experience,
self
confidence
in
his
ability,
agility
and
guts,
took
the
risk,
but
a
calculated
risk
with
high
reward
institutions
that
are
failing
are
behaving
in
Goliath,
like
waves,
big
lumbering,
Giants,
weighed
down
and
quote
on
an
Armour
of
heavy
tradition
and
cultures
that
limit
mobility,
they're
using
outdated
tactics
taking
on
the
challenges
in
the
marketplace
and
like
Goliath,
they
will
fall.
We
need
to
be
David
Lyfe
as
individuals
institution.
We
need.
N
Needs
and
expectations
of
students
today
can
be
met
in
traditional
means.
We
are
equipped
more,
the
better
than
most
and
our
self-assuredness
expertise,
nimbleness
and
willingness
to
try
new
approaches
that
we
know
about
fit.
Our
students
I
am
most
pleased
by
your
willingness
to
embrace
change.
Now,
despite
what
the
Bible
says,
I
still
believe
that
faith
later
were
partial
in
David's
victory
and
Russ.
In
our
work.
We
need
an
faith
and
be
supportive
of
one
another
as
we
pioneer
toward
our
new
frontier.
N
As
JFK
said
on
that
sunny
California
afternoon
in
1960,
we
can
have
faith
in
our
future
only
if
we
have
faith
in
ourselves.
This
is
no
time
for
fear,
but
rather
at
a
time
to
demonstrate
our
full
capability
in
seizing
the
opportunities
that
propel
our
university
forward
to
new
heights.
You
should
expect
that
I
will
be
bold
and
courageous.
It's
my.
D
N
Cannot
do
this
alone
and
I
need
your
support.
I
ask
that
you
also
do
whatever
it
takes.
Let's
move
forward
without
the
mystic
urgency,
collective
ability
and
excited
about
what
we'll
accomplish
I
know
that
my
worst
future
brightest
days
are
ahead
and
I
am
most
grateful.
Each
one
of
you
I,
look
forward
to
our
work,
work
together
and
I.
Won't
let
you
down!
Thank
you.
