Mayor Walsh offers remarks during the raising of the Colombian Flag on City Hall Plaza.

Accompanied by traditional folk dance and song, the raising of the Colombian flag on Boston City Hall Plaza commemorates the South American country's successful fight for independence from Spanish rule on July 20th, 1810.

Excited to be here today to celebrate colombian independence day. Boston, as you know, is the birthplace of the American Revolution. We take great pride in our heritage and I know that many of the Colombian people here take great pride in your heritage as well.

Such a great honor to be here today to raise the Colombian flag we celebrate and skin with the Colombian people in celebrating both of our fights for freedom. Many convience came to Boston, looking for a better future for themselves in their family and now call this city their home.
