From YouTube: Three Kings Celebration 2019
Description
Mayor Walsh celebrates "El Dia de los Reyes" or "Three Kings Day" at Boston City Hall. Three Kings Day celebrates the arrival of the three wise men to Bethlehem to gift unto baby Jesus gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

First

Everyone,
so
much
for
being
with
us
here
today
and
celebrating
our
annual
three

celebration
that
we
do.

So
we
want
to
share
this
special
holiday
that
is
so
special
to
all
Latinos
in
the
Latin
world.
B
This
is
celebrated
from
the
beginning
of
time,
our
calendar
now
and
as
we
celebrate
all
the
holidays
of
all
the
people
that
make
this
wonderful
city,
what
it
is,
the
hub
of
the
universe
and
celebrates
the
pluribus

well
to
all
Latinos
three
kings
day
is
a
very
special
day
it
commemorates.
It
is
the
12
days
of
Christmas
is
the
Epiphany.
B
There
were
the
three
kings
very
diverse
group
by
the
way,
which
is
why
we
celebrate
they
represented
that
rich
diversity,
that
makes
humanity
a
sisterhood
and
a
brotherhood
and
they
came
in
brought
presents,
and
so
that's
what
we
replicate
and
the
three
kings
as
a
mentor,
Gaspard
and
Balthazar
and,
as
I
said,
they
reflected
the
very
diversity
of
humankind
at
that
time
and
it
was
to
receive
the
light
onto
the
world.
They
will
give
hope
and
that
light
in
every
all.
Every
way
that
you
are
rejoice
and
celebrate
special
days
as
we
go.
It's
about.
B
A
Which
is
gracias
one.
Thank
you
so
much
one
for
doing
this.
Now
this
year
last
year
you
guys
we're
a
party.
You
saw
that,
along
with
the
Latin
exit,
the
high
resource
group,
we
were
able
to
do
an
amazing
toy
drive
for
the
kids
of
porto
rico
and
this
year,
and
we
decided
to
keep
the
tradition
going
and
we
decided
to
work
where
they
lock
the
local
nonprofit,
the
states,
both
in
Jamaica
Plain
in
and
in
in
Roxbury.
A
Some
of
you
might
know
casanova
Vita,
it's
a
homeless
shelter
that
not
only
empowers
women
that
also
helps
them
pave
the
way
into
a
better
life.
So
this
year
we
have
decided
to
partner,
along
with
Casa
la
Vida,
and
bring
a
little
joy
to
all
children
that
currently
assist
there.
So
it
is
my
pleasure
to
invite
to
the
podium
Manuel,
Duda
and
CEO
Casa
Maria.
C
Thank
You
Alexander.
Thank
you
very
much
indeed,
is
a
pleasure
being
here
today
and
words
are
not
enough
to
express
our
thanks
and
appreciation
on
behalf
of
the
children,
the
Board
of
Directors
and
the
staff
of
cats,
our
Aviva
for
this
opportunity
to
be
here
today.
We
also
like
to
thank
their
honorable
mayor,
Marty
Walsh
in
Boston,
his
staff
and
the
city.
Employees
is
making
this
possible
today
and
the
collaboration
to
give
gifts
to
the
children
of
casanova,
Vida
and
so
appropriate
and
three
kings
day,
which
is
for
the
Latinos.
It's
a
very
special
day.
C
I
was
just
laughing
a
little
bit
because
when
I
was
a
child
and
relief
waited
for
the
three
kings
day,
once
I
feel
my
whole
group
with
grass
and
I
saw
all
the
adults
sort
of
laughing.
You
know
is
it
you
don't
have
to
do.
That's
enough.
No
more
than
now
I
know
why
they
were
laughing.
You
know,
but
it's
a
very
special
time
for
children
who
wait
for
the
three
kings
day
and
for
us
is
a
very
special
day.
It's
an
honorable
really
indeed
to
be
here
under
the
leadership
of
mayor
Marty
Walsh.
C
The
city
of
Boston
continues
to
be
a
city
that
second
to
none
when
it
comes
to
helping
those
who
are
homeless
and
those
who
are
in
need
and
I'm
proud
to
be
a
resident
of
the
city
of
Boston
and
the
network
of
communities
that
so
generally
is
helping.
Those
who
are
in
need
of
assistance,
so
I
do
believe.
C
Under
the
city
mayor
mayor
Walsh,
the
city
is
going
to
be
consistently
be
moving
forward
towards
one
of
the
best
cities,
second
to
none
when
it
comes
to
leadership
and
when
it
come
to
a
national
level
and
international
level.
So
casa,
móvil
de
as
I
mentioned,
is
a
homeless
shelter
that
was
established
in
1988.
C
Last
year,
our
30th
anniversary,
we
started
with
four
families.
We
are
now
up
to
156
family,
serving
both
in
the
city
of
Boston
and
the
Lawrence,
and
up
to
now
we
have
managed
to
place
families
in
affordable
housing
over
3,000
families
who
have
gone
on
to
a
better
life
and
what
they
should
be
transitional,
living
and
affordable
living
and
for
all
the
families.
Thank
you
very
much.
A
Thank
you
so
much
Manuel
and
just
to
expand,
or
not
only
what
custom
mi
vida
does,
but
also
what
the
city
of
Boston
does.
Now
we
like
to
call
up
to
the
podium,
Kyra
Fox,
director
of
outreach
and
service
for
the
civic
engagement
cabinet
who's,
going
to
talk
to
us
a
little
bit
more
about
the
other
partnership
that
we're
doing
with
custom
mi
vida
in
the
spring.
D
Thank
you
Alex
good
afternoon,
everyone.
This
is
our
first
year
partnering
for
three
kings
day
and
we
want
to
thank
Manuel
in
Casa
Nova
Vita,
for
giving
us
this
opportunity.
As
director
of
outreach
and
service
I
sit
under
the
cabinet
of
civic
engagement
for
mayor
Walsh
and
I
oversee
a
program
called
love.
Your
block
love.
D
Your
block
is
all
about
volunteerism
and
community
beautification,
and
with
that
we
put
together
this
partnership
alongside
Alex,
and
we
will
be
working
with
the
teens
and
the
young
children
in
the
spring
to
make
sure
that
they
come
together
and
choose
a
project
that
is
near
and
dear
to
them,
and
we
are
going
to
help
bring
them
the
resources
and
the
skills
and
all
of
the
supplies
that
they
need
to
bring
that
product
to
life,
whatever
it
may
be.
In
the
past
we
have
done
projects
such
as
murals.
D
We
have
built
community
gardens,
etc,
etc,
but
I
want
to
keep
it
short
and
sweet
I
want
to
just
let
you
guys
know
about
our
partnership
and
how
we
are
so
happy
to
again
be
our
first
year
partners
here
for
three
teams
day
and
with
Casanova
Vita
and
now
I
will
be
calling
up.
Our
chief
of
civic
engagement,
Jerome
Smith.
E
Thank
You
Kara
good
afternoon,
everybody
how's
everybody
doing
yeah,
welcome
to
the
Mayor
Walsh's
three
kings
celebration.
I
know
that
I'm
very
happy
to
be
here
and
thank
you
very
much
for
allowing
me
to
take
a
few
minutes
to
just
be
very
brief,
because
I
know
that
I'm
really
looking
forward
to
what's
on
that
back
table
back
there
I've
already
looked
at
it
three
times,
I've
made
it
round
and
I
keep
getting
slapped,
but
I
am
honored
to
be
mayor.
Walsh
achieve
a
civic
engagement.
E
You
know.
The
purpose
of
the
cabinet
that
he
had
created
was
is
to
kind
of
bring
agencies
residence
together.
The
problem
solved
to
that
things,
but
ultimately
to
improve
our
communities
but
to
do
with
different
ways.
Instead
of
just
you
know,
cleaning
streets
and
trimming
trees,
but
actually
building
community
and
finding
little
things
and
helpers
like
the
organization
are
partnering
with
and
supporting
them
a
little
bit
more
and
focusing
in
on
Warren.
E
So
I
think
it's
great
that
we
have
the
opportunity
to
kind
of
do
some
of
the
work
that
we're
doing
here
today
and
I'm
really
looking
forward
to
working
with
casting
Evita
this
spring
with
the
youth
that
could
get
them
more
involved
in
our
city.
I
want
to
do
a
big
shout
out
and
thank
you
to
Alex
from
Neighborhood
Services
and
all
the
volunteers
who
are
here
in
the
back.
They
took
time
out
of
their
day.
They
collected
over
200
sorry
over
100
toys
that
will
be
giving
to
Casa.
E
And
again,
this
is
this
is
a
great
day.
You
know
this.
This
is
a
celebration,
that's
all
about
family
and
community,
and
nothing
could
be
more
important
than
coming
together
and
honoring
traditions
and
celebrating
traditions,
and
we
have
a
very
strong,
vibrant
Latino
community
in
city
of
Boston,
in
with
our
city,
employees,
here
and
city
of
Boston,
so
I
think
it's
a
great
day
and
again.
Thank
you
so
much
for
having
me
here
today,
I
appreciate
a
lot
of
me
to
speak
and
hope
you
enjoy
the
rest
of
the
celebration.
A
I'm
not
that
tall,
so
I
have
to
bring
it
down
a
little.
Thank
you
so
much
you're,
oh
man,
thank
you.
Kyra
for
everything
you
guys
to
behalf
of
the
city
under
the
mayor's
leadership
and
also,
like
Jill,
mentioned
huge,
shout
out
to
OH&S
huge
shout-out
to
the
lionex
jar
for
all
the
help
that
you
guys
have
done
throughout
this
whole
process,
and
also
all
of
the
volunteers
and
other
organizations
that
were
partnering
with
and
also
I
want
to
say
huge.
Thank
you
to
the
Mexican
Consulate,
who
every
single
year
siempre
Lisa
%.
A
F
F
All
of
the
Latin
Xers,
you
know
when
I
think
about
when
you
started
here
and
a
lot
of
people
sighs
in
this
job.
Four
years
ago,
five
years
ago,
four
years
ago,
three
years
ago,
two
years
ago
and
just
you're,
the
leaders
of
our
city
today
you're
the
people
that
are
leading
initiatives,
making
connections
bringing
services
to
the
city.
Many
of
you,
a
lot
of
some
people,
started
in
OH&S
and
have
gone
on
to
two
other
offices.
Here
some
people
have
left
the
building.
F
Some
people
leaving
the
building
I
just
want
to
say
thank
you
because
we
do
have
a
great
city
and
we
have
a
diversity,
and
we
have
a
great,
diverse
group
of
people
that
work
for
the
city
that
always
doesn't
get
recognized
and
I
know.
That's
not
the
intention
of
me
speaking
here
today,
but
I
was
just
sitting
there
watching
those
two
women
and
I
remember
vote
when
they
saw
it.
F
Caracara
was
a
really
quiet,
shy
person.
She
was
my
Roxbury
liaison
and
she
was
kind
of
you
know,
didn't
really
I,
don't
think
she
I
think
she
said
she
didn't
want
to
talk
in
front
of
people
and
she
didn't
want
to
say
anything.
It's
a
stew,
giving
a
speech
without
any
notes
by
the
way
and
Alex
came
in
a
little
less
shy,
but
but,
but
still
you
know
being
able
to
run
run
this
event,
and
so
many
other
things
and
so
many
other
people.
So
thank
you.
I
didn't
I
want
to
kind
of
I
know.
F
Also
I
also
want
to
thank.
We
have
an
incredible
partnership
with
the
City
Council
who
work
with
us.
We
obviously
work
on
issues
and
things
like
that,
but
when
it
comes
to
celebrations
and
traditions
and
honoring
the
people
of
our
city,
they're
here
and
I
want
to
introduce
some
of
them.
We
have
city
council,
Eddie
Flynn
with
us
today,
Thank
You,
councillor,
Flynn.
F
F
I
want
to
thank
our
friends
at
caching
wherever
for
your
great
work,
the
Mexican
consul
general
and
the
Mexican
Consulate,
and
who
has
been
a
very
close
partnership
with
with
me
and
with
with
our
administration
over
the
last
five
years,
but
in
particular
over
the
last
two,
where
we've
had
some
real
serious
issues
to
deal
with
in
what's
happening
in
our
national
government,
but
working
making
sure
that
Boston
remains
an
open,
inclusive
City
for
all
and
I
want
to
thank
them
for
that.
I
want
to
say
Happy
Tree
Kings
day
to
everyone.
F
I
know
that
today
is
not
three
kings
day
is
actually
Sunday
was
on
something
I
should
say,
but
it's
an
important.
This
is
an
important
tradition
for
us
in
the
city
to
continue
the
tradition
and
it's
an
important
for
us
to
continue
to
celebrate.
We
say
this
all
the
time
you
know
in
my
house:
it's
called
little
Christmas
and
we
celebrate
little
Christmas
in
in
different
different
cultures
and
different
different
cultures
around
our
city.
In
our
on
our
country.
F
We
celebrate
different
times
of
the
year
for
different
traditions
and
it's
important
for
us
to
not
to
forget
that
and
keep
that
moving
forward.
It's
a
great
tradition
here
in
the
city
I
want
to
thank
everyone
who
helped
made
it
happen,
including
our
volunteers
and
our
sponsors.
I
want
to
thank
the
office
of
naval
services
who
came
on
today.
I
know
I
noticed
that
you,
you
clap
for
your
colleagues
when
they
were
introduced,
but
when
Jerome
Smith
and
clapped,
you
gave
a
little
lot
of
one.
So
thank
you
for
that
make
it
feel
good.
F
So
I
appreciate
that,
but
Boston
is
strong
in
a
vibrant
city,
because
many
cultures
have
found
their
home
here
and
we're
preparing
I'm
preparing
from
my
state
of
the
city
address
and
we're
putting
different
things
in
there,
and
you
really
think
about
you
can't
get
away
from
talking
about
a
diversity
of
our
city
with
the
different
cultural
backgrounds,
everything
we
talk
about.
Coming
back
to
that,
and
it's
so
important
that
that
we
continue
to
recognize
that
for
decades
the
Latino
community
has
contributed
more
to
Boston's
growth
than
any
on
the
other
any
other
community.
F
And
if
you
know
I'm
not
going
to
go
through
all
the
numbers
right
now,
but
if
you
look
at
the
numbers
and
seeing
the
growth
Latino
community,
whether
it's
in
our
population
in
our
streets,
in
our
education
in
our
schools,
you're
looking
at
people
working
in
city,
government,
people
working
in
state
government,
people
working
in
private
sector,
people
working
in
businesses,
communities,
all
those
numbers
are
getting
bigger
and
bigger
and
bigger.
So
I
want
to
thank
you
for
that.
People
recruit
from
Mexico
Central,
America,
Spain,
South
America
and
the
Caribbean
have
contributed
to
our
city.
F
I,
can't
overstate
the
importance
of
the
impact
the
communities
have
made
in
document
in
our
cities,
from
arts
and
culture
to
business,
to
economic
development
of
food
to
all
the
different
areas
that
are
really
important
and
in
our
administration
here
in
the
city,
Latinos
and
Latinas
are
leading
some
of
our
most
important
work.
Help
Newman
service
is
the
largest
cabinet
in
the
city,
with
the
most
amount
of
departments
under
that
cabinet,
our
Boston
Center
for
youth
and
families,
our
veteran
services,
our
office
of
women's
advancement,
our
Public
Health
Commission,
a
food
access.
F
That's
the
name
a
few
not
to
mention
on
all
the
boards
that
we
have,
whether
it's
the
Boston
Redevelopment
or
the
Boston
plan,
without
an
agency,
our
school
committee
and
other
boards,
that
we
have
in
our
police
departments
and
I
fire
departments
on
EMS
all
the
different
areas.
We
get
people
that
that
are
in
very
important
positions
here
at
City,
Hall
and
in
all
of
our
neighborhoods.
We
stand
with
the
Latino
community.
F
We
stand
and
I
think
we
have
to
continue
to
say
this,
even
though
I
shouldn't
have
to
say
this,
but
we
have
to
we
stand
for
inclusion
and
representation.
We
stand
with
immigrants
here
in
City
Hall.
We
will
always
see
in
United
and
share
the
belief
of
endless
potential
in
our
city
and
that's
the
spirit
that
three
kings
day
brings
and
that's
the
spirit
that
we
bring
to
three
kings
days.
I'm
proud
of
of
the
great
conquering,
that's
happening
this
year,
look
Nueva.
F
They
do
incredible
work
for
women
and
children
tomorrow,
we're
gonna
be
helping
them
out
by
making
sure
every
child
they
serve,
gets
a
special
holiday
gift.
We're
gonna
work
in
the
areas
as
well
with
love
you
Blanc
and
focusing
on
strengthening
the
family.
We
just
finished
the
Christmas
holiday
season.
Will
we
often
think
about
during
those
times
we
try
to
do
something
special
in
the
middle
of
January.
It's
also
important
for
us
to
continue
doing
something
special,
not
just
when
it's
Christmas
or
Thanksgiving
Day
and
making
sure
that
we
get
back.
F
That's
what
the
city
is
all
about,
and
that's
what
the
people
that
I
am
looking
at
right
now,
we're
all
about
you're
about
making
sure
that
the
holidays
good
for
everybody
you're
about
making
sure
that
you
give
back
not
just
the
city
employees,
but
as
citizens
of
our
city,
which
is
important
following
from
by
empowering
our
Boston
Latino
community
and
by
believing
in
our
city.
So
to
all
of
you
on
behalf
of
myself
and
it
comes
to
Flynn
and
councillors.
A
common
cultural,
Maryland,
Council,
County
and
the
other
council
couldn't
be
here
today.
A
Thank
you
so
much
Mary
off.
That
was
amazing
and
thank
you
so
much
for
your
leadership
and
everything
you
do
for
our
city
yeah.
What
is
momentum
get
those
almost
random?
No
coming!
No,
no
yeah!
Oh
it's
almost
time
for
the
food,
but
before
we
get
to
the
food
I
know,
that's
the
part
that
everyone
is
waiting
for.
I
want
to
make
sure
that
we
understand
a
little
bit
learn
a
little
bit
about
the
tradition
of
what
three
kings
day
is
in
Mexico,
specifically
laughter,
Oscar,
I
didn't
know
anything
about
it.
A
The
last
year
my
coworker,
his
sous
he's
our
use.
Boston
coordinator,
had
the
chance
to
teach
me
and
explain
to
me
a
little
bit
more
what
the
tradition
was
in
Mexico
of
lateral
scatter
days.
So
it's
with
great
pleasure
that
I
want
to
introduce
to
everyone
here,
Concilio
Nardo
Livadia,
who
is
going
to
explain
to
us
a
little
bit
more
voilá
Rose
Kennedy,
is
from
the
Mexican
Consulate.
G
Thank
You
Alexandra
and
thank
you
mayor
Walsh,
so
dear
mayor,
mayor,
Marty,
Walsh
you're.
All
thank
you
very
much
for
being
with
us
today.
It
is
an
honor
to
be
with
you
in
this
special
celebration
gathering.
All
of
us
I
want
to
thank
the
government
of
the
city
of
Boston
and
particularly
Mayor
Mary
Walsh
and
the
mayor's
office
for
bringing
the
community
together.
G
So
building
a
Don
on
one
explanation:
every
general,
six
Mexico
regions
with
the
tradition
that
registers
its
origin
in
France
and
is
deeply
religious
rasca,
a
radius
or
kings
cake
symbolizes,
a
biblical
passage
known
as
the
Epiphany
in
which
the
three
wise
men
visited
the
infant
Jesus
on
the
night
of
his
birth
according
to
Christian,
believes
it's
oval
shape,
represents
the
infinite
love
that
the
labors
professed
to
God
during
that
night.
That
ratings
brought
presents
to
the
newborn
God
welker
Brad
Gold
symbolizes
virtue,
Casper
brought
instant
symbolizes.
G
The
holy
spirit
and
Balthazar
Brad
mere
express
in
suffering
the
tration
in
Mexico,
represented
by
the
rasca
Reyes,
includes
one
or
more
dolls
elusive
to
Jesus
Christ
during
crust
in
the
bread
which
symbolizes
that
the
channel
has
to
be
hidden
and
protected
in
the
days
of
a
history
to
save
him
from
King
Herod.
The
person
who,
upon
splitting
his
piece
of
bread,
finds
that
all
commit
himself
or
herself
to
give
a
party
and
prepare
tamales
for
all
those
present
during
Candlemas
day
on
February
2nd,
a
celebration
in
which
tamales
and
atole
our
customary
offer.
G
A
Thank
you
so
much
for
that.
I
know
everyone
are
sweet,
so
let's
go
ahead
and
eat.
If
you
do
find
the
baby
Jesus
inside
of
those
kind
of
ages.
Just
remember
you
are
throwing
the
party
and
bringing
with
them
others.
So
just
fine!
Thank
you,
everyone!
So
much
for
coming.
Thank
you
very
much
and
everyone
who
made
this
possible.
