From YouTube: Chinatown Lion Dance Parade 2/13/2022
Description
In Chinese culture, the performance of the lion dance in celebration of the New Year signifies the bringing of prosperity and good fortune, and the driving away of evil spirits. After being canceled in 2021 due to the pandemic, Mayor Wu joins with Chinatown community leaders and residents to celebrate the annual Lion Dance Parade, and welcome the good luck and fortune of the New Year.

We
wish
everyone
good
health
and
fortune
for
the
year
of
the
tiger.
According
to
the
chinese
zodiac
this
year
will
be
the
year
of
resistance
and
strength.
It
will
be
great
year
for
achieving
your
goal
and
pursuing
your
passion.

A
C
Thank
you
so
much,
I'm
so
honored
to
represent
this
community
and
the
city
of
boston.
We
are
here
celebrating
the
the
snow
as
it
comes
down
on
a
prosperous
year.
Little
little
snowflakes
of
luck
coming
down
on
all
of
us
for
2022.
In
the
year
of
the
tiger,
I
wanted
to
introduce
also
our
new
chinatown
liaison
chulang
huang.
You
want
to
say
hi
to.
C
A
B
E
Is
very
important
in
our
culture,
so
I
want
to
thank
ccba
for
keeping
the
good
tradition
by
organizing
this
very
meaningful
event.
My
office,
taiwan's
representative
in
new
england,
is
also
very
proud
to
sponsor
and
we
are
committed
to
working
closely
with
ccba
and
the
chinatown
community
for
many
years
to
come
since
we're
still
celebrating
the
lunar
new
year.
I
want
to
take
this
opportunity
on
behalf
of
the
people
in
the
government
of
the
republic
of
china,
taiwan.
I
want
to
wish
everyone
phoning
and
hong
kong.
A
F
It
thank
thank
you,
hong
and
to
our
friends
at
the
ccba
chinese,
consolidated
benevolent
association,
proud
to
be
here.
Thank
you
to
the
city
workers
that
are
making
this
possible
as
well,
including
our
police
and
fire
public
works,
glad
to
be
proud
to
be
here
with
the
mayor
mayor,
wu,
our
elected
officials
that
are
on
stage
aaron
and
aaron
as
well.
I
also
want
to
acknowledge
state
senator
nick
collins
and
state
senator
lydia
edwards,
who
also
represent
the
area.
F
I
don't
think
they're
able
to
be
here
at
this
time,
but
they'll
be
here
later,
just
want
to
say
thank
you
to
them
as
well
hung
mentioned
the
year
of
the
tiger,
the
resiliency
of
the
aapi
community,
but
we
also
have
to
acknowledge
the
the
anti-asian
racism
that
we've
seen
in
this
community
and
across
the
country
over
the
last
two
years.
Over
the
last
several
years,
we
have
more
work
to
do
in
making
sure
the
the
voices
of
immigrants
are
heard
across
our
country.
Thank
you
and
I'm
honored
to
represent
this
community.
A
A
G
A
Aaron
and
donald's
another
brother
from
another
mother,
I'm
big
family
tonight.
H
Thank
you,
hey
fat
choi.
I
want
to
wish
everyone
a
happy
new
year,
the
year
of
the
tiger
and
and
and
thank
everyone
for
their
support
of
chinatown
and
the
chinatown
local
businesses.
You
know,
I
think
I've
been
doing
this
now
for
13
years,
believe
it
or
not.
As
as
the
representative
from
chinatown.
I
think
this
is
the
first
year
that
we've
had
snow
in
the
middle
of
the
lion
dance.
So
I
think
that
that's
good
luck
for
our
new
mayor
and
good
luck
for
chinatown
going
forward.
H
So
I
thank
you
all
for
your
support
and
for
your
help
in
in
helping
chinatown
survive.
Obviously
the
last
couple
years
of
covid,
but
we
have
a
lot
more
work
to
do,
and
I'm
thankful
for
the
opportunity
to
do
that
work.
So
I'm
going
to
pass
it
over
to
my
colleague,
donald
wong.
Thank
you.
I
