From YouTube: Scoops and Hoops Family Day
Description
Mayor Walsh tipped off the annual Scoops and Hoops basketball tournament at the Mildred Avenue Community Center in Mattapan! This Family Day is an event that promotes non-violence, community-building, and unity through basketball, fellowship, and food.
A
Let
me
just
this
is
my
fourth
straight
year
coming
to
this
tournament.
I
came
here
as
a
candidate
for
mayor
for
three
years
four
years
ago
and
I
haven't
miss
one
sense
and
the
work
that
we're
doing
out
in
the
neighborhood
and
as
I
look
around
I,
see
I,
see
a
lot
of
people.
I
see,
will
Morales
from
the
from
the
b
c
YF.
I
see
chris
by
'no
whisker,
its
from
b
c
YF.
Chris
is
here
some
occurs
right
here.
We
see
the
street
workers
that
are
here
to
care
about
our
kids.
A
We
see
the
coaches
that
care
about
our
kids.
We
see
the
police
department,
the
kids
about
our
kids,
so
many
people
are
here
today
for
safety
and
for
showing
positive
examples,
and
this
is
one
of
the
best,
if
not
the
best
tournament
in
the
country
that
happens
every
year
right
here
on
this
court
in
Mattapan.
A
Today's
constantly
comes
from
state
representative,
Daley,
colonnade
I
didn't
mean
to
give
you
a
demotion,
sorry
I'm,
sorry
city,
councilor,
Nisa,
savvy
judge
and
Thomas
I'm,
a
hot
at
state
guy,
I
mistake
I
at
hot,
but
I
do
want
to
thank
everyone.
I
want
to
the
coaches.
I
want
to
thank
the
parents.
I
want
to
thank
the
volunteers.
I
want
to
take
mounted
piano.
Wheels
is
over
there.
Setting
up
I
want
to
thank
MBTA
police
steps
here
with
us
today.
Thank
you,
everybody
for
being
here
today,
because
it's
about
sending
positive.
A
We
hear
too
much
on
negative,
and
you
know
I
talk
about
this
a
lot
when
we
have
an
event
like
this
I
know.
We
have
BN
in
cable
here,
let
us
say
thank
you
being
in.
We
don't
see
all
the
cameras,
but
if
something
happened
on
the
street
or
in
the
park
later
tonight,
we
load
our
cameras,
and
this
is
the
positive
stuff
that's
happening
in
our
neighborhood.
So
for
the
little
guys
here
have
a
good
game
today:
have
fun
I'm
awful
in
basketball,
so
I'm
just
going
to
watch
you
on
the
side.
B
A
Get
committee
for
mental
ease
please
I,
want
to
present
at
least
a
certificate
in
honor
of
your
commitment
and
engagement
and
appreciation
of
your
unwavering
dedication,
leadership
for
our
youth
and
families,
and
everything
that
you
do
on
behalf
of
the
city
of
Boston
and
the
Ennis
and
the
Commonwealth
of
Massachusetts.
Thank
you
for
supporting
this
tournament
and
best
wishes
continued
success
in
all
your
endeavors
and
thank
you
for
being
with
us
today.
A
We'll
take
one
we'll
take
one
big
picture
afterwards:
I
just
want
to
give
a
shout
to
Deanie
Mulhern
who's
here
from
our
Office
of
Public
Safety,
Thank,
You
Danny
for
being
here
and
also
I,
know.
I
already
mentioned
that
Street
workers-
they
don't
get
enough
credit
for
the
work
they
do
on
our
street.
They
do
incredible
stuff.
These
guys
work
all
the
time.
Thank
you.
Street
workers
put
your
hands
up.
A
Thank
you
very
much
for
everything
you
do
for
us
because,
well
view
the
other
go
to
guys
and
they
betray
appreciate
it
and
I
love
you
it's
race
here,
race,
right
behind
me,
Rory
skip
get
over
here
Roseville
in
autumn.
You
commitment,
education,
appreciates
your
unwavering
dedication,
leadership
to
the
youth
and
families.
Thank
you
for
everything
you
do
on
behalf
of
the
city
of
Boston,
the
Commonwealth.
Thank
you
for
supporting
this
tournament
and
without
without
you,
and
at
least
people
like
you,
we
don't
have
a
tenure.
A
C
Okay,
first,
these
these
guys
help
me
in
the
trenches
they're
here
now,
every
time
I
call
them
they're
there,
their
Street
workers
as
well,
but
when
we
do
civic
engagement,
these
are
my
dues.
Daddy.
Can
you
come
over
here
too,
because
without
you
dead,
you
don't
know
saying
this
is
what
it's
all
about.
I
just
need.
My
team
over
here
Chris
miners
around
with
Chris
Chris.
Can
you
come
over
here?
These
are
the
people
right
here.
Come
on
my
well,
you
know
with
your
you're
the
team
part
of
the
team.
C
E
Good
afternoon
everybody
good
morning
actually-
and
now
thank
you
for
coming
out
and
I'm
excited
to
be
here.
I've
been
involved
in
this
from
its
inception
with
Tony.
It
allows
me
to
come
out
and
have
a
little
bit
of
fun
with
you
to
the
young
people
go
out
and
have
some
fun
today,
make
some
new
friends
and
enjoy
yourselves
and
Tony.
Congratulations
again
on
the
12th
is
the
12th
right
rock.
C
B
The
Carpenters
Union
will
always
support
anything
going
on
in
the
communities
for
the
kids.
Now
we
know
these
kids
are
not
ready
to
be
Union
carpenters
yet,
but
the
parents
may
qualify
for
some
of
the
jobs
that
we
have
to
offer
here
in
the
city
would
all
be
the
building.
That's
going
on
Boston's
in
the
biggest
building
boom
in
Boston
history,
and
we
provide
opportunity
for
careers
for
people
that
meet
the
minimum
requirements
to
come
into
our
program.
Eileen.
