From YouTube: City of Brandon Council Meeting - May 2, 2022
Description
No description was provided for this meeting.
If this is YOUR meeting, an easy way to fix this is to add a description to your video, wherever mtngs.io found it (probably YouTube).
A
Are
exercising
a
lot
of
covered
precautions,
but
certainly
quite
a
sense
of
more
normalcy.
A
A
A
Shortly
so
without
further
ado,
we'll
get
on
to
the
first
item
of
business.
Madam
acting
clerk.
A
B
C
Hello
good
evening,
on
behalf
of
the
brandon
urban
aboriginal,
people's
council
or.
C
So,
first
order
of
business
I'd
like
to
express
bupac's
gratitude
for
providing.
C
Ron
bowles,
I
put
together
two
nominations
for
awards
that
would
recognize
the
city.
C
C
In
terms
of
funding,
so
of
course
the
city
of
brandon
has
provided
the
twenty
thousand.
C
C
C
So,
that's
it
that's
an
enormous
gift,
but
that
contribution
surely
led
to
more.
We
have
an.
C
C
C
Be
within
that
week
and
also
the
brandon
police
service
has
an
initiative
that
they're
working
on.
C
Sharing
circle
section
of
our
programming,
also
the
national
center
for
truth
and
reconciliation.
C
C
C
So
one
of
them
is
community
and
bupac
in
the
past
has
done
stewart
ups
as
they
call
them.
C
At
princess
park
on
may
26th,
two
bupac
members
and
city
staff
will
host
from
11
30
a.m.
To
about.
C
C
Be
held
at
the
manitoba
metis
federation
bingo
hall.
That
date
is
to
be
determined
but
it'll
be.
C
Assiniboine
community
college
brandon
university,
the
brandon
school
division
and
after
he
does.
C
Those
four
presentations,
specifically
with
these
groups
and
the
city
of
brandon,
sorry.
C
At
205
college
avenue
and
it's
a
75-minute
presentation.
C
Where
tim
presents
videos
from
the
witnessing
that
occurred
during
the.
C
Truth
and
reconciliation
commit
commission
and
his
own
experiences
he's
also
a
veteran,
and
he.
C
C
C
They
look
at
the
meaning
of
land,
you
know
what
is
the
what
is
metis
in
numerous
numerous.
C
Themes
like
that,
where
people
engage
in
conversations
in
a
circle
of
ten
people,
so.
C
C
In
terms
of
truth
and
reconciliation
week,
we
put
together
guidelines
so
that
we
would
eventually.
C
April
27th,
there
are
quite
a
few
people
on
that
committee.
I'm
just
going
to
go
through
the
list.
C
In
terms
of
the
naming
efforts,
my
plan
was
to,
or
our
plan
was
to
recall,
the
riverbank.
C
Discovery
naming
group
together
in
april,
but
they
had
stipulated,
they
wanted
to
meet.
C
A
Council
cameron,
thank
you,
worship
through
you
to
the
presenter.
Thank
you
very
much
once
again.
D
The
yearly
funding
with
regards
to
the
truth
and
reconciliation
week
and
sort
of
cobbling
all.
D
D
The
planning
for
activities
and
and
involvement
and
ultimately
the
learning
that
can
happen
there.
C
C
C
D
Mentioned
that
the
naming
and
that
and
honorary
street
names
and
and
that
process
and
and
that's.
D
Great
to
hear
absolutely,
you
know,
obviously
if
the
group
is
able
to
get
together
in
the
the.
D
D
Or
even
sort
of
a
path
forward
that
we
can,
we
can
adopt
and
hopefully
move
forward
with.
C
That's
a
hard
question
to
answer:
we've
done
preliminary
work,
so
I
have
full
confidence.
C
Not
like
not
forcing
a
deadline
but
really
asking
them
how?
How
do
you
see
us.
C
C
A
I'll,
maybe
jump
in
if
I
can,
on
the
national
truth
and
reconciliation
day
celebrations,
so.
A
Last
year,
the
very
first
one
you
turned
it
into
a
whole
week
long
and
I
wasn't
quite
sure
in.
A
If
tighten
it
up
to
more
just
on
the
weekend,
which
is
kind
of
I
did
hear
you
talk
about.
A
Bookending
but
right
so
the
way
it's
looking
right
now
is.
We
will
begin
again
on
september
27th.
C
From
there
just
involve
as
many
people
as
possible-
that's
the
tuesday
on
wednesday.
It
will
be.
C
Creating
a
new
legacy
folks,
who
will
have
that
entire
day?
So
that's
a
it's
kind
of
separate,
but.
C
The
sacred
fire
will
will
will
continue
to
burn
we'll
do
something
so
on
thursday,
amanda.
A
As
all
the
events
get
kind
of
penciled
in
there,
so
good
thanks
for
that.
Any
other
questions.
A
A
To
be
an
exciting
and
very,
very
meaningful
event
and
well,
a
number
of
events
got
many
things.
A
E
E
And
you
know
we
could
have
easily
lost
steam
and
energy,
but
we
were
lucky
enough
to
to.
E
Tap
michelle
for
the
position
of
the
urban
aboriginal
people's
coordinator
and
and.
E
Came
out
of
the
pandemic
and
we
put
on
truth
and
reconciliation
week
last
week
and
I
feel
like.
A
Great
thanks
for
adding
that
important
any
other
comments
before
we
call
the
question.
A
F
First
is
because
it
is
so
cute,
you
could
have
one
too,
but
the
second
is
because
I
am
with
b
city.
F
Brandon,
I'm
also
with
westman
gardeners
club,
which
is
the
smaller
of
the
two
garden
clubs.
F
Recreation
and
we
have
members
from
the
brandon
garden
club
there
from
the
green
spot
and.
F
F
Together
to
put
together
plans
for
year
of
the
garden,
I
just
feel,
though,
that
I
just
have
to.
F
Pause
here
a
moment
because
I'm
here
with
this
frivolity
and
talking
about
gardens
and
gardening.
F
F
F
So
last
month
the
mayor
proclaimed
municipality
participating
in
year
of.
F
National
sort
of
level
it's
been
seen
as
an
opportunity
for
canadians
to
get
outdoors.
F
F
F
So
it's
a
national
celebration
centered
on
national
garden
day,
which
is
june
18th
saturday.
F
June
18th,
but
each
community
can
decide
what
they
take
on
board
from
the
the
sort
of.
F
The
national
program-
and
we
can
build
our
own
plan
around
that
and
in
brandon
this
is
so
far.
F
So
I
expect
more
to
be
added
to
this
list,
but
you
can
see
that
there's
all
sorts.
F
Of
organizations
that
are
coming
together
and
being
involved,
our
garden
heroes,
is.
F
A
national
program,
but
on
a
local
level,
we
are
also
nominating
brandon's
garden
heroes.
F
F
So
there
are
other
events
that
are
happening
around
the
year.
That
and-
and
there
are
some.
F
Being
listed
there
again,
things
are
being
added
each
week
as
we
as
we
meet
and
communities
in.
F
F
F
F
F
Lots
of
seed
packets
and
so
have
lindenburg
seeds,
and
it
allows
us
to.
F
Sew
the
seats
and
with
the
packets
of
seeds
we'll
be
giving
them
out
in
events.
F
F
Year
of
the
garden,
so
thank
you.
Thank
you
very
much,
jane
you're,
a
very
active,
inspiring.
A
A
A
Very
timely
and
very
exciting:
what's
planned,
coming
up
and
and
it's
fun
also
very
symbolic.
A
On
on
many
counts,
with
the
the
planting
of
rent
to
recognize,
you
know
pandemic.
A
A
A
Going
to
pull
this
in
so
I
do
have,
I
do
have
a
sunflower
and
jane
made
it
so
this
has.
A
Been
adorning
brightening
up
my
office
until
tonight,
and
I
thought
I
would
bring
it
along.
A
And
try
to
help
out
so
we'll
open
the
floor
to
questions.
If
there
are
any
I'm
serious
early.
E
E
D
Thank
you
so
much
for
the
presentation
this
evening.
One
of
the
questions
I
had
around.
D
F
Of
the
classrooms
have
already
started
to
talk
about
how
to
grow
sunflowers
in
in
the
classroom.
F
Sunflowers,
but
so
yes,
we
do
and
and
now
that
I've
got
seeds
and
seed
packets,
then
I
can
start.
F
Events
on
activities
with
kids,
but
that
would
be
mostly
sort
of
drawing
sunflowers.
D
Good
quick
follow-up,
if
I
may
that
that's
excellent
to
hear
my.
My
second
question
is.
D
For
somebody
like
myself,
who
isn't
a
green
thumb
by
any
means,
is
there
a
resource
within.
D
Not
able
to
sort
of
get
over
that
the
hump
so
to
speak
in
in
growings.
Yes,
so
one
of
the
things.
F
F
F
F
F
You
and
jane
has
provided
little
packets
of
sunflower
seeds
to
all
accounts
and
those
are
to.
A
F
F
G
G
Up
in
your
organization,
so
again
I
just
wanted
to
thank
you
and
if
there's
any
time
that.
G
G
A
And
I
didn't
see
any
other
hands
so
again
we
have
a
covered
lot
again
coming
up
and
going
on.
A
And
again,
people
are
just
really
anxious
for
all
of
this
stuff
in
the
summer.
Over
the
last.
A
A
F
A
A
Know
that
we
have
that
many
this
evening,
that
wants
to
come
forward
and
provide
any
comments.
A
Or
feedback
on
any
item,
that's
on
tonight's
agenda
and
the
total
of
15
minutes
is
allowed.
A
And
now
that
our
presenters
have
completed,
I
don't
think
we've
got
too
many
other
other
than.
A
A
B
B
Development
corporation
and
very
good
counselor,
charlie
yeah,
thank
you
for
your
worship.
E
Pamela
smith,
to
bddc,
we
said
goodbye
to
john
zeke
and
thanked
him
for
his
service
and
we.
E
And
also
looked
at
or
some
other
projects
that
are
in
the
queue.
E
That
we're
not
allowed
to
discuss,
but
some
optimism
there
coming
to
the
downtown
and.
A
Been
up
was
the
board
chair
mike
mandel.
Thank
you,
okay,
thanks
for
that,
any
questions
of
from.
A
Any
member
of
council
to
councillor
charlie
about
the
downtown
development
corporation
report.
B
H
H
H
H
A
Okay,
thank
you
very
much
any
questions
of
counselor
lucky
on
the
poverty
committee
report.
A
B
Western
manitoba
centennial
auditorium
and
council
cameron.
Thank
your
worship,
just
an
update
from.
D
The
western
manitoba
centennial
auditorium
the
auditorium
board,
met
on
april
20th.
D
D
D
D
D
Take
a
look
at
you
know
an
important
building,
that's
part
of
part
of
his
portfolio,
so
we're.
D
D
That
was
coming
to
the
auditorium
due
to
some
concerns
that
were
outside
of
our
our
our.
D
Which
is
actually
really
well
received
thus
far
and
and
we're
looking
at.
D
Christmas
day
of
earlier
holiday
events,
so
a
lot
of
stuff
happening
at
the
auditorium
and.
G
G
Kind
of
things
is
that
something
that
might
be
considered
in
the
future
or
part
of
the
new
sound.
G
System
through
your
worship
to
counselor
colin,
definitely
something
that
would
be
considered
in.
D
And-
and
you
know
make
it
welcoming
to
everybody
in
the
community.
Okay,
thank
you.
A
A
Think
that's
been
widely
publicized.
I'd
cancel
the
whole
tour,
so
hopefully
that
does
come
back.
A
A
Has
been
owed
already,
so
that's
very
positive
to
hear
and
the
next
one
please
there's
a.
I
Yeah,
thank
you
through
your
worship.
Just
a
quick
update
task
force
continues
to
meet
on
a.
I
Chair
tim
silversize
is
going
to
be
presenting
11
solutions
to
council
on
may
16th.
Thanks
for.
A
That
so
the
task
force
did
want
to
provide
as
much
but
a
bigger
presentation,
certainly
coming.
E
Like
right
away,
quick
thinking
of
graffiti
and
knowing
that
it's
it's
still
like
it's
an.
E
Ever-Present
problem
in
the
downtown
I'm
getting
calls
from
business
owners
that
are,
you
know.
E
I
A
That
so
with
the
notion
that
once
it's
come
back
to
council
that
we'll
move
quickly
on
any.
A
A
A
H
H
H
Do
it,
I
suppose,
without
the
drive-through
portion
now,
but
our
community
has
really.
H
D
Your
worship,
I
think
I
just
want
to
take
a
moment
on
behalf
of
council,
to
congratulate
the.
D
In
an
exciting
triple
overtime
fashion,
but
just
wanted
to
congratulate
coach
don
mcgilvary.
D
I'm
having
a
tough
time
with
names
tonight,
but
coach,
don
mcgilvery
and
his
team
on
you
know.
D
Battling
through
a
difficult
season,
with
a
couple
of
stops
with
regards
to
pandemic
restrictions,.
D
And
and
just
wanted
to
wish
everyone
with
that
organization,
the
best
and
and
on
behalf
of
council.
D
Just
congratulate
them
on
on
completing
the
season,
obviously
not
the
result
they
wanted,
but.
D
A
We
thinks
are
one
of
brannon's
famous
calling
cards
so
we're
well
known
for
that.
A
And
again
they
had
a
good
battle
to
the
end,
but
aren't
gonna
get
to
move
on
any.
A
E
Attention
to
two
important
events
coming
up
nationally
may
5th
is
red
dress
day
and
so.
E
So
maybe
check
out
the
french
friendship
center.
The
other
important
day
is
the.
E
And
that's
again
to
collectively
act
to
end
violence
toward
women
and
children.
E
The
moosai
campaign
day
is
on
may
12th.
You
can
check
out
their
website
at
moosaidcampaign.ca.
E
E
One
of
the
most
incredible
websites
I've
ever
been
on,
if
you
need,
if
you
have
any
questions.
I
Your
door,
all
the
time
that
you
know
we
have
a
2022
election
in
the
fall
registration.
I
For
the
mayor
opened
today,
so
people
can
come
in
anytime.
Now
it's
an
open
seat
as
his
worship
is.
I
A
A
If
nobody
else
had,
but
thanks
councillor
fawcett
because
I'll
sound
like
a
broken
record,.
A
But
school
division
also
coming
up
in
that
election.
So
again
we
really
need
our
community.
A
To
rally
around
and
and
think
about
all
these
three
elections-
school
board,
city,
councilors.
A
Board
councillors
and
mayor's
seat
and
consider
running,
consider
getting
involved
in.
A
Helping
somebody's
campaign,
if
you're
not
running
and
very
least
of
all,
just
be
engaged
in
the.
A
Any
other
announcements
and
not
seeing
any
we
can
move
on
to
the
next
item.
Please.
B
18Th
street
north.
Thank
you
very
much
just
before
we
start
I,
I
will
recuse
myself.
A
From
this
item,
as
the
applicant
is
a
competitor
of
of
a
business,
I'm.
A
Involved
in
and
although
there's
not
really
any
specific
conflict
of
interest,
this
could
be.
A
Councillor
bruce
lupke
very
much.
Thank
you,
your
worship,
I
believe
ryan
nicol.
J
Thank
you,
worship,
so
not
a
big
presentation,
but
certainly
do
want
to
walk
counsel
through
the.
J
Fairly
basic,
the
site
was
formerly
pat
moore's
nurseries
for
greenhouse.
J
J
J
J
In
the
city-
and
there
were
a
few
recommendations,
the
one
recommendation
was
regarding
braycrest.
J
J
Improvements
at
bray,
crest
and
18th,
and
one
of
the
more
interim
ones
to
help.
I
guess.
J
J
J
J
J
J
J
J
J
J
J
H
Open
for
questions
go
ahead:
counselor,
fawcett
yeah!
Thank
you
through
your
worship,
mr
nichol.
I
The
the
question
I
have
on
this
is
the
the
road
that
we
were
looking
at
there.
It
was
the.
I
What
we
were
kind
of
presenting
to
everybody
up
there,
so
if
it
was
to
change
it
would
be.
I
I
I
J
J
I
Yeah
and
again,
thank
you
for
your
worship.
The
follow-up,
too,
is.
I
So
this
is
something
that
we
did
fairly
similar
