Recreation station I'm emilia and I'm lucy and we're your hosts.

Hi everyone today we're here with two competitive figure: skaters named cassidy and reagan.

A

Okay, so we have some questions first, one. um What do you do and who are you uh my.

B

Name is cassidy miller and my name is ryden miller and we are competitive figure. Skaters.

A

How long have you been a competitor.

C

I have been skating for the past 13 years, and this past year was my last year.

B

I competed for about 13 years as well, and now I have been coaching figure skating for about.

B

Five years now, why did you start yeah? Why did you start thinking.

B

I started I started in the cansky program at the keystone and all of the coaches. There were figure.

B

Skaters and I kind of just went off from there, and I also started with the transgate program.

C

And I was just put in figure skates from the start, so I'm kind of stuck with it.

A

What is one of your hardest tricks.

B

um One of my hardest tricks- probably the double jumps.

C

And one of my hardest was always the axle: um what's your favorite trick.

C

My favorite trick is any variation of sit spin. That is funny, and I I love any field grouping so.

B

Those would be spirals, drapes shoot the dots. Those are my favorite. What is anything like that? You'd.

Wish other people knew about skating? I wish people knew how difficult it actually is. You know you're.

B

um Trying to look graceful while you're, jumping or spinning super fast in the air and.

B

Losing your breath, um I wish people knew that it wasn't it's not all just about like the jumps and.

Spins, like there's other aspects of the score too okay, what is your favorite skating memory.

My favorite memory is when I competed at the winter games. um My favorite memory was a couple.

Years ago I skated to music from the movie singing rain and I had a dress that was made.

C

To look like a raincoat, so that was definitely one of my favorites, so my spiral sequence is a.

C

Sequence of two or more field movements that goes from one end of the ice to the other.

C

And it often has very minimal steps in between each move. It is a requirement in most programs.

Well, we can teach you about some spins now with spins. There are three different types you have.

B

Your upright, which is, whenever you're in this sort of position, you have a six spin, which is when your.

B

Knees are at a 90 degree angle. Then you have a fit which is similar to the spirals we just did, but.

B

That's when you're spinning your leg up and you're sitting around yeah how about we demonstrate.

What do you think it's fine yeah.

We've challenged them to do a freestyle dance-off on the ice.

A

And we're picking their songs and then we are going to pick our songs.
