A
As
you
know,
Hispanic
Heritage
Month
has
ran
from
September
15
to
October
15th,
and
this
is
the
first
opportunity
we
have
had
as
a
board
in
public
to
honor
some
community
members,
students,
teachers,
staff
and
so
we're
very
excited.
Our
first
honoree
this
evening
is
Mr
candido
Crespo,
who
is
the
president
of
the
Puerto
Rican
Coalition
for
a
better
community
and
the
certificate
reads
as
this
in
recognition
of
your
continued
and
tireless
work
to
uplift
and
unite
the
Latino
community.
Through
Your
good
work
as
a
community
leader,
Mr
Crespo.
A
Foreign
we'll
take
a
group
picture
after
we
give
out
all
the
awards
and
I
might
add
that
Mr
Crespo
is
also
a
graduate
of
Brentwood
High
School.
All.
D
A
A
D
Okay,
welcome
everyone
this
evening.
It
is
just
wonderful
to
see
this
large
of
a
crowd.
It
has
been
a
while.
It
has
been
a
long
time
since
we've
packed
the
house
out.
So
so.
Thank
you.
Thank
you
for
coming.
Congratulations,
Dorothy
and
candida
you
just
two
terrific
people,
wonderful
people
that
do
so
much
for
the
community.
Thank
you
so
much.
This
next
person
is
a
very,
very
special
person
to
the
school
community
and
I
am
going
to
introduce
our
assistant,
superintendent
and
child,
develop
I'm.
E
Good
evening,
so
during
Hispanic
Heritage
Month
we
honor
and
celebrate
the
contributions
of
Hispanics
who
have
impacted
their
communities
and
life
of
others.
Our
district
is
very
fortunate
to
have
many
Hispanic
Latino
members
who
service
and
love
our
children.
Tonight
we
want
to
recognize
Sonia
Argueta.
C
E
Was
born
in
Colombia
and
at
the
age
of
one
moved
to
Venezuela,
she
obtained
a
bachelor's
degree
in
Business
Administration,
with
a
concentration
on
tourism
from
the
University
of
avierta
Venezuela.
In
pursuit
of
the
American
dream,
she
moved
to
New
York
state
in
1999.
After
learning
English,
she
started
working
as
a
teaching
assistant
in
2001.
E
I
had
the
honor
to
work
with
Miss
argeta
in
2002.
When
we
worked
together
at
Southwest
Elementary,
she
used
to
refer
to
our
kids
as
esto
muchachitos
these
little
kids.
During
that
time,
I
witnessed
the
determination
and
motivation
to
pursue
education,
higher
education
when
she
enrolled
at
Five
Town
College
to
pursue
a
teaching
career.
She
once
mentioned
how
grateful
she
is
to
the
Brentwood
School
District,
for
offering
the
opportunity
to
become
a
teacher
when
the
district
affiliated
with
the
five-ton
College
started
her
teaching
career
at
Laurel
Park
as
a
first
grade
teacher
in
2005..
E
Since
then,
she
has
devoted
her
time
to
teach
and
Inspire
our
wonderful
students.
She
serves
as
a
plaza
Community
liaison,
translates
at
many
events,
including
the
waterbed
meetings
and
at
the
district
bilingual
hotline.
She
is
the
Lead
Teacher
to
our
title
3
summer
programs.
She
serves
as
a
judge
for
the
Spanish
spelling
bee
and
now
began
a
bilingual
theater
after
school
program
for
Grace
one
to
five,
as
you
can
see,
Miss
argeta
never
says
no
Miss
argeta.
Tonight.
F
F
D
Okay,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
we're
actually
just
getting
started.
Congratulations.
Sonia
I
would
like
to
say
that
this
has
obviously
been
Hispanic
Heritage
Month
month.
As
you
all
know,
it
begins
on
September
15th,
September
15th,
as,
as
you
all
know,
it's
a
very
special
day.
That's
when
six
Central
American
countries
actually
gained
their
freedom
from
from
Spain
and
then
on.
D
Obviously,
September
16th
Mexico
actually
received
their
independence
from
Spain,
so
the
beginning
of
the
month
has
been
very
important
and,
as
you
know,
it
began,
and
it
actually
was
recognized
as
Hispanic
week
in
1968
and
actually
later
on
became
a
Hispanic
Heritage
Month
I
want
to
say
here
in
Brentwood.
I
am
very
proud
of
how
the
schools
every
single
School,
puts
on
multiple
events
during
the
month,
and
they
do
it
in
such
a
way.
D
That
is,
is
it's:
it's
wonderful
celebration
of
the
Hispanic
heritage
and
this
Hispanic
culture
and
the
influences
that
it's
had
on
the
United
States
and
obviously
in
a
district
that
has
almost
90
percent
Hispanics.
It
is
something
that
we
should
do
and
we
should
honor
and
I
get
to
see
every
single
day
how
the
Hispanic
culture
has
influenced
this
school
community
in
such
a
beautiful,
wonderful
way,
so
I
see
lots
of
Administrators
and
teachers
out
there.
I
want
to
personally.
Thank
them.
D
D
D
I
also
would
be
remiss
if
we
didn't
recognize
our
own
board
president,
who
was
most
recently
recognized
by
Sammy
Gonzalez
for
her
impact
on
the
Brentwood
School
community.
D
I
have
a
great
story
here
we
have
with
us
Mr
gangler
from
North,
Middle,
School
and
he's
here
this
evening.
Are
you
going
to
show
the
two-minute
clip.
G
G
I
have
with
us
here
Kayla
Puentes,
but
we
discovered
had
a
wonderful
voice,
not
because
he's
informed.
G
We
asked
if
he
would
help
celebrate
our
Hispanic
heritage
event
to
which
he
and
our
assistant
principal
Mr
Christi,
so
Mr
Cecil
played
the
guitar
and
it
looks
out.
We
invited
mom
was
not
able
to
make
it
that
night
because
the
ocean
it
came.
We
had
a
wonderful
celebration
and
she
unfortunately
had
to
go
to
the
hospital
she
didn't
see
because
we
coordinated
with
our
float
for
our
homecoming
Caleb,
got
to
sing
those
songs
25
times
doing
the
root
for
our
homework.
Daddy's
good
job.
G
Said
listen.
Would
it
be
okay
to
have
him
saying?
Well,
he
said
that
would
be
great.
Now
we
told
him
we'll
see
you
at
eight
o'clock
at
Central
and
we
may
have
confused
them,
because
we
came
here
at
eight
o'clock
this
morning,
yeah,
unfortunately,
that
car
was
struck
from
behind
sending
both
of
them
to
the
hospital.
It's
amazing
that
they're
alive
and
that
they're
even
here
and
they
decided
to
make
sure
they
got
here,
Mr
mastiso.
Unfortunately,
we
could
talk
later.
G
Structural
support
coach
from
North
Middle
School,
who
has
helped
us,
coordinate
our
activities
and
he's
been
doing
this
over
20
years
from
our
days
of
Multicultural
celebration
to
really
anchoring
the
efforts
at
our
school,
with
our
kids
with
our
faculty
and
really
making
the
experience,
something
that
touches
close
to
home.
And
so
what
we
like
to
be
able
to
do
is
share
a
little
bit
of
that.
As
Mr
Shanley
presents
foreign.
I
H
Thank
you
board,
so
one
of
the
things
up
there
that
that
really
to
me
is
the
is
the
most
important
thing
and
it's
kind
of
been
my
guide
for
all
the
years.
That
I've
taught
is
that
Hispanic
heritage
just
is
not.
It
is
the
month,
but
it
is
not
just
the
month.
It's
really
who
we
are
as
as
a
school
as
a
school
community
and
just
as
Brentwood
all
together.
H
So
with
that
we
like
to
plan
activities
throughout
the
month
that
that
demonstrate
there
we
go
first,
we
have
multiple,
so
many
different
teachers
doing
so
many
different
projects.
Thankfully
they've
shared
things
with
me
and
I'm,
able
to
I've,
been
able
to
kind
of
highlight
some
of
the
things
that
we
have
from
biographies.
H
Apologize
there
we
go
no,
so
there
we
go
essays.
Mrs,
Kemps
and
Miss
Kemp's
essays
were
the
students
were
writing
essays
about
people
in
their
lives
that
were
important
to
them
and
they're.
Wonderful.
If
you
ever
get
a
chance,
you
can
actually
click
on
them
and
they'll
be
there.
We
have
more
biographies.
H
Ms
Marsha
sixth
grade
teacher
Korea
had
the
students
create
videos
about
what
it
means
to
be
Hispanic
and
the
links
there
as
well.
H
Each
morning,
during
Hispanic
heritage
we
ran
read
morning
biographies
and
the
idea
is
to
was
again
to
to
go
deeper
and
not
just
say:
hey
here
are
the
singers
and
the
and
the
and
the
and
artists
things
of
that.
We
really
tried
to
get
into
a
multitude
of
where
people
came
from
Men
Women,
everybody.
H
The
last
several
years,
we've
also
had
a
Hispanic
Heritage
film
festival
and
focusing
on
video
on
movies
that
represent
the
students
that
represent,
who
you
know
the
our
backgrounds.
H
Liz
Mr
gangler
said
we
had
at
for
homecoming.
We
were
fortunate
enough
to
get
Disney
Pixar's
Coco
and
now
what
a
wonderful
event
and
again
Caleb
was
able
to
to
sing,
sing
and
sing.
We
did
hold
a
Hispanic
heritage
celebration
on
the
13th.
Thank
you
again
to
Mr
lotion
for
attending
it
was.
It
was
really
an
enjoyable
evening
or
afternoon.
I
should
say
we
awarded
prizes
to
our
Hispanic
heritage.
Poster
contest
winners.
H
Oh
this
is
the
video
of
Mr,
mestizo
and
well,
and
Caleb
Singh,
but
I
think
we're
going
to
get
that
from
Caleb.
In
a
moment,
one
of
my
favorite
things
of
that
night
and
again
it
just
show,
goes
to
show
who
we
are
as
a
school.
All
right
go
back.
H
One
of
my
favorite
favorite
parts
of
the
whole
entire
day
is
Miss,
Cavanaugh
assistant,
principal
dancing,
dancing
the
night
away
the
afternoon
away
and
Miss
intregularly
I,
don't
know
if
you're
familiar
with
some
regularly
she's
our
email
teacher
there
with
the
little
curly
hair
on
the
left.
She
she
got
lost
in
the
middle
dancing
with
all
the
students.
So
just
again,
wonderful
memories
made
for
staff
and
students.
H
Foreign
North
Middle
School,
it's,
you
know
we
are
a
school
Community,
but
we
see
ourselves
as
a
family.
There
are
so
many
people
that
came
out
I
believe
it
was
about.
25
of
the
staff
participated
in
this
event
alone,
so
I
I
was
nothing
but
thankful.
H
That's
more
photos.
We
have
our
Awards
or
certificates.
Given
out.
We
were
fortunate.
We
were
able
to
play
some
Lotteria,
so
I
got
to
be
the
Loteria
caller
I,
don't
know
who
is
more
excited
me
calling
or
the
kids
screaming
when
they
got
there
when
they
got
their
Awards
and
then,
of
course
we
couldn't.
You
know
end
it
without
having
a
pinata
that
little
poor
cow
lasted
about
three
seconds,
and
then
that
was
it
so,
like
I
said
there
were
so
many
different
people
who
were
a
part
of
the
event.
H
D
Now
Mr
gang
look
before
Caleb
sings,
I
I
do
want
to
say:
I
actually
invited
Caleb
here
and
Elias
to
actually
perform
this
evening,
and
it's
really
not
just
for
Hispanic
Heritage
Month.
It's
also
a
tribute
to
the
Board
of
Education,
because
you
see
this
is
a
Board
of
Education
Month.
It
kind
of
coincides
in
October
with
Hispanic
Heritage
Month,
so
I
since
I
lack
talent,
I
have
zero
talent.
I
shamelessly
am
using
Caleb
to
honor
the
Board
of
Education
as
well
as
Hispanic
Heritage
Month.
D
J
J
J
J
D
That
was
spectacular.
Thank
you,
Caleb
all
right,
ladies
and
gentlemen.
We
still
have
three
more
wonderful
students
to
recognize
this
evening.
They
were
recognized
I,
guess
about
two
weeks
ago
by
the
Brentwood
Chamber
of
Commerce,
so
we
wanted
to
bring
them
here
this
evening
and
I'm
going
to
introduce
Miss
Callan
the
high
school
principal
and
Sergeant
Hannah.
He
is
in
charge
of
the
afjrotc,
so
Mr
Callen.
K
So
I
want
to
thank
Mr,
Lozier
and
Miss
Felix
and
the
board.
We
have
some
students
here
that
we're
honoring
they
were
honored.
Recently
at
the
chamber,
the
chamber
had
a
dinner
and
we
were
made
aware
that
these
students
were
nominated.
They
were
nominated
by
Miss
Longo.
Who
is
our
librarian
here
at
the
Ross
library
at
the
high
school?
She
is
our
interact
advisor
and
she
nominated
the
three
students
and
I
asked
them
to
come
up.
K
They
were
honored,
they
were
honored
to
for
their
dedication
to
the
community
and
Miss
Longo
sent
me
something
that
I'm
going
to
read
on
her
behalf.
She
nominated
them-
and
she
couldn't
be
here
this
evening,
but
I'm
going
to
read
this
on
her
behalf.
So
the
modern
motto
of
the
rotary
and
the
interact
is
cell
service
above
self
Raquel,
David
and
Jennifer
have
demonstrated
that
they
are
champions
of
this
motto.
K
Diane
has
had
the
absolute
pleasure
of
working
with
them
over
the
past
few
years
on
several
service
projects,
including
the
annual
holiday
food
drive,
the
annual
Christmas
tree
lighting
ceremony,
Valentine's
for
veterans
Valentines
for
seniors
souls
for
Souls,
Shoe,
Drive,
blankets
for
hope,
letters
to
Rose
and
especially
Habitat
for
Humanity.
During
this
time,
I
have
witnessed
their
resilience,
determination,
kindness,
gratitude,
grit,
respect
appreciation
and
some
of
the
greatest
examples
of
humanity
are
embodied
in
these
students.
K
When
the
chamber
contacted
her,
that
is
Diane
to
let
her
know
that
the
chamber
was
looking
to
honor
some
high
school
students
and
she
was
faced
with
a
dilemma.
Who
would
she
nominate?
They
were
asking
for
one
student
and
she
honestly
says
that
she
could
not
choose
one.
So
she's
admitted
all
three
names,
although
they
have
all
participated
in
many
service
projects
together,
they
each
bring
their
own.
Something
special
to
everything
they
do.
Raquel
is
an
artist
she
colors
the
world
with
her
amazing
art
and
Compassionate
Heart
David
is
an
executive.
K
Not
only
is
he
the
interact
Treasurer,
but
he
also
puts
extra
attention
and
detail
into
everything
he
does.
Jennifer
is
a
Dynamo.
No
project
is
too
small
or
too
large
for
her.
She
tackles
multiple
projects
simultaneously
and
never
breaks
and
sweat.
It
is
a
great
honor
to
work
alongside
these
amazing
students
and
I
would
second
that
they
truly
embody
the
best
of
this
community
and
the
best
of
Brentwood
High
School.
So
all
right.
L
So
normally
I
don't
use
the
mic.
The
cadets
well
Jennifer
knows,
and
everybody
knows:
I
don't
use
a
mic.
I'd
rather
talk
out
loud.
It
wouldn't
be
sold
in
a
CMS
on
Adam.
If
it
wasn't
I
did
it
this
way.
L
I
Echo
first
I
want
to
thank
Mr
loshna
and
the
administrative
staff
Miss
Felix
and
the
board
for
honoring
everybody
tonight,
but
especially
these
three
Cadets,
but
we
definitely
have
to
honor
where
it
started
and
that's
their
family,
the
Acosta
family,
the
Alvarado
family
and
the
Ramirez
family.
So
thank
you.
L
Thank
you
because,
as
Jennifer
will
tell
you
I
said
it
starts
at
the
kitchen
table
and
that's
where
it
starts.
They
were
recognized
as
youth
members
of
the
Year
okay
and
it
wasn't
just
that
it
was
at
senator's
boil
and
wike.
It
was
legislator,
Ninth,
District,
Gonzalez
and
the
town
boy,
and
now
it's
time
for
your
home
to
do
it
for
you.
So
congratulations
to
each
of
you.
L
Rock
Hill
is,
as
Mr
Callen
said,
a
little
bit
behind
the
scenes,
she's
going
to
go
on
to
college
for
pre-med
and
then
medical
school
and
hopefully
be
orthopedic
doctor.
Hopefully
I
will
never
see
you
all
right.
So
thank
you
for
doing
that,
David.
Besides
everything
else
volunteers
at
the

of

department.
L
So
thanks
for
doing
that,
he's
going
to
follow
on
with
college
and
hopefully
be
a
software
engineer,
but
I
understand
also
businesses,
so
maybe
he's
the
next
Bill
Gates,
so
that
and
Jennifer
I
know
the
longest
I've
known
her
for
two
years
we're
going
on
our
third
years.
She
is
the
number
two
in
command
of
the
ROTC
program,
which
has
over
160
Cadets,
which
is
an
amazing
young.
Lady
I
can
spend
hours
talking
about
each
and
every
one
of
them,
but
Jennifer
is
going
to
go
into
accounting
and
again.
A
A
Before
we
conclude
giving
out
the
awards,
I'd
be
remiss
if
I
didn't
read:
Mr
Crespo
and
Miss
Santana's
bio,
because
it's
quite
impressive,
so
candido
Crespo
was
born
in
Brooklyn
New
York
to
parents
who
moved
there
from
Puerto
Rico.
His
father
was
from
the
town
of
Aguadilla
and
his
mother
from
Cabo
Rojo.
His
parents
relocated
the
family
to
Long
Island
in
1978,
but
candido
had
already
been
familiar
with
the
area
because
his
grandparents
had
moved
there
earlier,
cantito
retired
from
Pilgrim
Psychiatric
Center.
After
working
there
for
38
wonderful
years
there.
A
He
helped
individuals
with
mental
illnesses
to
become
vital
members
of
the
community.
In
addition
to
expected
duties,
candido
made
sure
to
Center
relationships
to
Foster
relationships.
Candido
has
been
the
president
of
the
Puerto
Rican
Coalition
for
a
better
Community
for
the
past
three
years,
but
has
been
involved
in
the
organization
for
18
years.
Holding
a
variety
of
titles.
Candido
got
involved
in
the
prcbc
after
his
daughter,
Jessenia
was
the
first
recipient
of
the
now
annual
college
scholarship.
A
In
addition,
he
was
impressed
by
the
positive
impact
the
prcbc
had
on
our
community
and
the
betterment
of
not
only
Latinos
but
of
all
people.
They
have
helped
and
donated
to
countries
faced
with
disaster,
including
Puerto,
Rico,
Guatemala,
Bahamas
and
Haiti.
The
organization
also
co-hosts
annual
parandas
Puerto
Rican
caroling,
and
three
kings,
Tori
Drive
Mr,
candido
Crespo.
Everyone.
A
My
apologies
for
the
delay:

M
D
D
As
I
mentioned
earlier,
this
is
this
is
the
Board
of
Education
appreciation
month
and
I
do
have
a
proclamation
sent
To
Us
by
the
governor
of
New
York
State
I
would
like
to
read
the
proclamation
and
also
I
I.
Just
want
to
extend
my
personal
gratitude
to
the
Board
of
Education.
I
will
say
that
a
board
of
education
really
is
required
to
have
good
open
lines
of
communication
with
the
superintendent
with
the
cabinet,
with
administrators
and
I
want
to
say
that
this
board
is
exceptional
at
that
they're
also
a
positive
force.
D
What
I
love
about
this
board
is
that
they
think
the
world
of
the
Brentwood
School
Community,
they
believe
in
our
students
they
believe
in
the
staff
they
believe
in
the
administration,
and
it
shows
their
their
positive
leaders
and
I
enjoy
immensely
working
with
them.
I
think
that
they
have
variety
of
ideas
that
are
creative,
I
think
that
they
are
always
thinking
of
ways
to
improve
the
district
and
I'm
really
grateful
for
their
their
leadership
and
their
support.
I
think
that
we
are
very
very
blessed
as
a
school
Community
to
have
a
board
of
education.
D
Who
cares
so
deeply
about
the
the
school
Community
but,
more
importantly,
they
care
really
about
the
success
of
each
and
every
student.
They
do
spend
a
considerable
amount
of
their
own
free
time.
Thinking
of
ways
how
best
to
help
every
student
and
I
have
to
tell
you
I've
been
involved,
obviously
with
other
school
districts
and
I've,
never
seen
a
board
of
education
who
attends
events
whenever
possible.
D
Last
night
there
were
several
board
members
there
and
I'm
talking
in
the
daytime
in
the
evening
on
the
weekends
they'll
do
anything
to
be
a
part
of
a
celebration
that
is
taking
place
because
they
feel
it's
impor
important
as
Leaders
to
be
out
there
for
their
students
and
their
staff
and
I
really
do
want
to
thank
them.
I
think
we
have
a
terrific
board.
Can
we
give
them
a
round
of
applause?
D
D
School
boards
have
worked
with
school
administrators
and
educate
Educators
to
help
them
navigate
students
full
return
to
the
classroom
within
a
learning
environment
that
is
safe,
healthy
and
ensures
Optimum
opportunities
for
intellectual
and
personal
growth.
Certainly,
our
board
has
done
that
exceptionally.
Well,
whereas
members
of
school
members
of
local
school
boards
are
dedicated
to
Children,
Learning
and
community
and
devote
many
hours
of
service
to
Elementary
and
secondary
public
education,
as
they
continually
strive
for
improvement,
excellence
and
progress
in
education,
recognizing
that
all
children
can
be
successful
learners,
whereas
local
school
board.
D
A
C
C
C
N
A
Should
I
move
ahead
with
you
know
and
Jose.
C
A
I
We
would
like
to
start
by
thanking
the
Board
of
Education
in
the
I.T
department
for
fixing
the
issues
on
teams
before
students
couldn't
communicate
better
with
their
teachers
because
they
were
automatically
locked
out
of
their
accounts
every
24
hours.
So,
thanks
to
that
issue
being
fixed
students
have
been
able
to
improve
the
communication
between
their
teachers
and
now
be
able
to
see
their
assignments,
so
we
have
received
positive
feedback
from
both
the
teachers
and
students.
So
we
would
like
to
thank
you
for
that.
I
In
addition
to
this,
it
was
also
about.
I
In
addition
to
this,
it
was
also
brought
to
our
attention
that
there
were
some
issues
with
Outlook
students
haven't
been
able
to
use
their
school
emails,
so
we
were
wondering
if
there
has
been
any
updates
on
the
out
on
the
Outlook,
so
that
students
can
use
their
District
email
to
reach
or
contact
their
teachers.
It's
important
that
students
are
used
to
using
a
professional
email
platform
to
contact
their
Educators
as
they
will
in
college.
D
I
appreciate
that
very
much
I'm
going
to
just
comment
on
a
few
items
that
you
just
said:
first
Miss
Chang,
obviously
in
charge
of
the
I.T
Department.
She
did.
You
know,
take
your
question
to
heart.
She
actually
rewrote
a
code
herself
and
actually,
what
was
happening
was
every
evening
they
were
resetting
the
passwords,
the
login
and
passwords.
Obviously
it
was
the
same
password,
but
they
reset
that
every
evening
she
wrote
some
code,
so
that
wouldn't
happen
and
I'm
glad
to
hear
you
guys.
D
You
know
recognize
that
in
terms
of
Outlook
there's
something
that
you
should
know
that
every
student
actually
does
have
access
to
Outlook
and
can
email
their
teachers.
They
cannot
email
other
students,
okay,
so
that
that's
something
that
I
I
just
want
you
to
know
that
the
way
it's
configured
at
this
point
that
Outlook
students
can
log
into
Outlook,
obviously,
and
they
can
email
their
teacher,
their
teacher
can
email
them
back
now.
D
P
Yeah,
so
we
were,
we
weren't
made
aware
that
it
was
if
the
issue
was
being
fixed
because
we
did
bring
it
up
at
the
last
Board
of
meeting
but
yeah.
As
far
as
we
know
that
we
can't
contact
other
students,
but
we
didn't
know
that
the
teacher
contacting
assist.
So
thank
you
very
much
for.
P
Okay,
so
moving
forward,
we
wanted
to
ask
if
there
were
any
updates
with
the
new
computer
towers
for
the
high
school.
We
were
made
aware
that
there
was
orders
put
in
for
new
towers,
because
in
a
lot
of
the
computer
labs
and
the
libraries
at
school
there's
a
different
amount
of
like
computers
that
either
randomly
shut
off.
They
log
us
off
in
the
middle
of
our
work,
or
they
simply
don't
turn
on,
but
we
did
hear
that
Miss
Ortiz
is
getting
new
Towers.
P
Yeah,
so
this
was
brought
up
to
some
like
the
other
students
that
like
how
they
feel
about
getting
new
computers
and
from
the
spoon
student
perspective,
we're
all
really
thankful
because
we'll
be
like
working
in
our
computer
classes
and
it's
like
we're
working
in
the
middle
of
a
code
and
it's
just
boom.
It's
gone
so.
D
Understood
no
and
I
really
again
I
appreciate
that
first
I
appreciate
Miss,
Ortiz
being
Santa
Claus.
That's
really
really
wonderful
of
you.
Miss
Ortiz,
but
I
I
I
will
say
there
are
some
things
that
and
I
met
with
Miss
Chang
and
Miss
O'connor
today
about
a
whole
bunch
of
related
issues.
D
One
of
the
things
that
we
have
to
keep
keep
in
mind
that
that
to
remind
your
your
teacher
as
well
that
if
there
is
a
concern
about
a
computer,
there's
something
happening
in
the
classroom
that
is
going
down
it's
turning
off
whatever
the
issue
may
be,
please
make
sure
that
a
ticket-
and
you
know
a
ticket-
is
actually
put
in
because
very
frequently
you
know
when
I
was
again
speaking
to
miss
Chang
today
lots
of
these
concerns
she
actually
is
not
aware
of,
nor
is
the
I.T
Department.
D
We
don't
want
people
to
operate
in
frustration.
Okay,
if
something
happens,
you
have
to
put
a
ticket
in
so
that
way
the
IT
department
does
know
about
it.
So
a
lot
of
these
concerns
I
think
we
only
recently
found
out
particularly
the
AP
Computer
class
that
that's
probably
what
you're
referring
to
correct.
P
D
P
You
so
some
updates
with
the
flood
drive
for
Pakistan,
so
it
just
it
went
really
well,
we
had
a
very
high
level
of
participation.
All
the
honor
Societies
or
most
of
the
honest
Societies
in
the
high
school
and
many
of
the
clubs
did
get
involved.
P
The
Honor
Society
set
up
a
credit
system
so
that
the
people
who
donate
within
the
Honor
Society
they
would
get
credit
for
donations
and
clubs
even
donated
personally
money
or
items
so
that
their
officers
or
members
could
go
out
and
buy
stuff
to
donate
a
pickup.
A
date
hasn't
been
officially
set
as
far
as
I
know.
So
that's
to
be
to
be
determined,
some
updates
about
the
high
school.
We
have
our
senior
trip
coming
up,
so
we
know
I
think
about
seven
buses
have
been
filled
out,
so
we're
all
I
know.
P
Definitely
the
senior
class
is
very
excited
to
go
to
Dorney,
so
we're
looking
forward
to
that
and
safe
Halloween
is
also
coming
up.
That
will
be
on
I
think
next
Thursday
the
27th.
So
if
there's
any
children
or
any
kids,
you
know
that
would
be
interested,
definitely
bring
them
by
the
high
school
we'd.
Love
to
entertain
them
scare
them.
P
So
one
last
thing
we
were
wondering
if
there's
been
any
updates
with
the
taste
testing,
it
was
supposed
to
be
set
up
to
improve
or
yes
ask
about,
like
any
lunch
menu
options.
Yeah
hi.
A
D
Actually
were
there
were
taste
tests?
Okay,
there
actually
were
several
taste
tests
that
actually
occurred
up
at
the
high
school
Unfortunately
they
weren't
advertised
as
well
as
I'd
like,
but
so
we
are
going
to
change
the
advertisement
of
them,
but
we
did
have
taste
tests.
What
what
cafeterias
were
they
in.
G
A
Okay,
because,
as
I
previously
stated
at
the
last
meeting,
that
the
academic
Advisory
Board
was
going
to
usurp
this
event,
so
we're
going
to
have
a
meeting,
probably
in
the
next
three
weeks
and
we'll
get
with
at
Administration
and
Food
Services
to
make
sure
that
comes
to
fruition.
So
my
apologies,
not
that
I
dropped
the
ball,
but
maybe
I
did
drop
the
ball
on
this
and
I'll
take
the
responsibility
for
that.
So
my
apologies.
It's.
P
D
A
R
Good
evening
Board
of
Education
School
administration,
my
name,
is
Bill
Moss
I
am
a
resident
of
the
Brentwood
Community.
I
am
also
here
tonight
as
the
Director
of
the
rising
star
summer
Leadership
program
that
took
place
here
in
Loretta
Park
Elementary
School
this
summer.
It
was
a
collaborative
effort
on
behalf
of
the
NAACP
and
local
non-profit
organizations
from
the
community
and
as
well
as
Nationwide,
and
so
we're
here
tonight
to
say.
Thank
you
I'm
here
with
Sophie
Blanco,
who
was
our
teacher
of
the
year
or
the
summer
or
whatever?
R
We
also
had
a
host
of
teachers
and
teachers,
assistants
really
from
the
Brentwood
CI
in
Bayshore
area,
so
for
the
students
in
the
program
it
felt
like
home,
and
we
had
a
lot
of
positive
feedback
from
our
parents
as
well
as
the
students
we
had
at
the
end
of
the
summer,
106
students
in
the
program
amongst
six
different
classes,
with
students
ranging
from
first
grade
to
11th
grade
and
the
curriculum,
was
mathematics,
Ela
character,
education,
each
for
an
hour
and
a
half
every
day.
We
also
had
speakers
coming
in.
R
The
hero.
In
this
regard,
we
applied
for
the
grant
in
May
of
this
year
and
ended
up
getting
it
in
June
of
this
year
for
a
program
that
needed
to
start
in
July
of
this
year,
so
we
certainly
were
under
the
wire
to
get
the
program
up
and
going
once
we
we
found
out
that
we
had
the
funding
and
you
were
responsive,
and
we
are
very
thankful
about
that.
R
The
Brentwood,
School
District
really
went
above
and
beyond
to
make
sure
that
we
had
everything
we
needed
to
serve
the
students
in
need
in
this
community.
As
you
know,
covid-19
left
a
lot
of
our
young
people
with
deficits,
educational
deficits
and
the
hackathorne
foundation.
They
will
hackathon
family.
They
felt
it
not
robbery
to
put
a
hundred
thousand
dollars
into
this
community
to
make
sure
that
our
students
were
able
to
catch
up
like
the
Joneses
okay.
So
you
guys
were
a
big
part
of
that.
R
We
thank
the
Brentwood
School
District
for
coming
on
board
and
being
our
our
venue
for
the
program
at
Loretta.
Park
and
again,
you
gave
us
all
the
amenities
that
we
could
ever
need
and
ask
for
to
to
make
a
difference
for
our
young
people
and
they
had
a
great
summer.
So
thank
you
in
that
regard,
special
thanks.
Well,
we
have
our
certificates
here
for,
of
course,
the
Board
of
Education.
R
R
R
The
park
principal
Mr
McCarthy,
he
was
amazing
and
as
a
as
a
Loretta
Park
Alum,
it
was
great
to
be
back
in
the
in
the
building
that
that
I
spent
seven
years
of
my
life
in
here
in
Brentwood,
so
the
students
had
a
wonderful
job
had
a
wonderful
time
in
the
district
did
a
wonderful
job
helping
us.
So
thank
you
very
much
on
behalf
of
the
program.
Thank
you.
Thank.
A
Thank
you,
Mr
Moss,
for
that
recognition,
as
I
have
said
before,
and
I'll
continue
to
say,
this
is
a
collaborative
board
and
we
truly
do
want
to
collaborate
with
the
community
organizations,
individuals,
students,
staff,
administrators,
I'm,
going
to
say
this,
every
chance
and
opportunity
I
get.
We
mean
it,
so
this
is
very
special
to
receive
a
recognition
for
something
we've
done
well.
So
thank
you.
D
Thank
you,
Mr
Moss.
That
really
was,
it
was
a
terrific
program.
I
enjoy
stopping
in,
it
was
run
so
well,
and
you
know
they
were
so
dedicated
the
the
teachers,
the
students
that
you
had
in
to
help
out.
It
really
was
a
wonderful
program.
So,
as
Miss
Felix
said,
look
you
know
anytime,
you
have
something
like
that.
It
was
so
easy.
You
called
up.
You
asked
and
I
said
you
know.
Of
course
we
just
had
to
call
around
and
find
some
empty
space
and
I
think
it
was
terrific.

Q
A
D
Okay,
folks,
this
is
where
I
obviously
read
many
of
the
happy
happenings
as
we
like
to
call
it
up
on
the
third
floor.
The
happy
happenings
across
the
district
I
would
like
to
say
if
I
can
just
for
a
moment,
I
want
to
say
something
to
bipso,
led
by
Dr
Jackson,
Mr,
Morris,
the
entire
executive
board
and
really
the
entire
bipso
organization.
D
You
know
they
were
without
a
contract
for
well
over
a
year
and
I
will
say
that
I
appreciate
how
classy
you
are
during
that
entire
time.
It's
not
it's
not
often
that
a
unit
of
your
importance
really
just
allows
the
process
to
take
place
without
being
contentious
without
you
know,
without
maybe
not
even
doing
your
job,
but
you
did
it.
D
D
We
want
to
be
in
where
a
contract
is
that
far
out,
but
I
do
want
to
say
you
know
how
classy
and
how
respectful
and
how
you
know
how
you
just
felt
about
this
community
that
no
matter
what
no
matter,
what
was
going
on
behind
the
scenes
you
were
giving
it
a
thousand
percent
at
all
of
the
time
and
I
really
do
appreciate
that.
So
thank
you
very
much.
D
You,
yes,
no,
they
they.
They
were
terrific
during
the
whole
process,
and
it
that
does
mean
a
lot.
It
means
a
lot
to
the
district.
I
would
suspect
that
I
would
suspect
that
99
of
this
school
community
did
not
even
know
the
administrators
were
operating
without
a
contract,
and
what
does
that
say
about
the
people
who
are
working
without
a
contract?
It
says
a
whole
heck
of
a
lot
about
how
classy
they
are.
So.
Thank
you.
D
Okay,
let
me
see
here
we
kicked
off
the
month
on
Saturday
October
1st,
with
the
green
machine
home
show.
It
was
terrific
and
last
Saturday
again
the
community
celebrated
the
High
School
homecoming
with
a
parade
and
a
football
game
against
Sachem
East.
Both
events
were
spectacular
and
a
strong
indication
of
the
Jubilation.
We
are
all
feeling
to
be
back
again
together.
D
D
So
West
West
Middle
School
rested
away
from
who
who
did
I
thought
so?
Okay,
all
right,
so
many
schools
have
hosted
Hispanic
heritage
events
during
the
day
and
evening
to
recognize
the
contributions
made
and
the
important
presence
presence
of
Hispanic
and
Latino
Americans
to
the
United
States
Pine
Park
kicked
off
their
celebration
on
October
4th
with
music
and
food
and
games
and
a
tribute
to
the
families
from
Latino
descent
from
all
over
the
world.
D
Oak
Park
Twin,
Pines,
North,
Middle,
South,
Middle
East
Middle
also
had
held
events
in
the
evening
for
family
celebrations:
Oak
Park
honored,
our
assistant
superintendent,
Miss
Ortiz,
for
a
steadfast
support
of
the
bilingual
community
and
last
night,
as
I
mentioned
earlier,
South
Middle
paid
tribute
to
our
very
own
Maria
Rodriguez
for
her
dedication
and
commitment.
And
oh
that's
right.
We
all
learned
how
to
do
the
samba.
It
was
a
lot
of
fun.
God
I
hope
they
didn't
get
that
on
tape.
D
That
is
what
I
hope
so,
and
you
know
what
there
might
have
been
other
schools
in
here
too
I
know
the
high
school
had
lots
of
things
going
on
really
all
day
long.
All
month
long,
the
high
school
held
a
financial
aid
information
night
on
October
19th
to
help
parents
get
ahead
of
the
college
application
process.
This
is
always
well
received
by
our
students
and
families
and
I
do
want
to
thank
Mr
Bennis
and
the
entire
guidance
Department
really
top
to
bottom
in
the
district.
D
They
do
a
wonderful
job,
and
this
is
only
the
first
of
many
financial
aid.
Informational
evenings
I
also
want
to
con.
You
know
thank
the
high
school
guidance
Department
because
they
also
spend
a
great
deal
of
time
for
helping
families
fill
out
the
FAFSA
form.
As
you
know,
if
anybody's
gone
through
the
process,
it
is
very
confusing
and
difficult
to
fill
out
and
we
really
do
it
throughout
the
year
and
I
think
that's
pretty
unique
to
the
Brentwood
School
Districts
I
am
not
certain
that
all
school
districts
do
that
for
their
school
community.
D
So
it
really
is
terrific
Laurel
Park
held
family
movie
night,
which
was
which
was
a
tremendous
success
and
West
Middle
School
is
primed
to
host
their
Horror
Night
from
6
to
8
P.M
on
October
27th
also
fall
is
in
the
air
and
pumpkins
are
on
the
ground.
Our
elementary
schools
are
I'm
laughing
because
you
know
Miss
Palmer
does
write
a
lot
of
this
stuff,
so
not
that
I
have
to
tell
you
I
think
you
guys
all
suspected
that
foreign.
D
Oh
man
fall
is
in
the
air
and
pumpkins
are
on
the
ground.
Our
elementary
schools
are
taking
taking
students
on
trips
to
the
pumpkin
patch
or
having
the
pumpkins
brought
in,
so
so
children
can
take
the
time
and
choose
their
very
own
to
decorate
and
bring
home
to
their
families.
Southeast
held
their
event
yesterday
in
East
kindergarten
had
a
wonderful
display
with
games
and
prizes
that
happened
today.
D
The
National
Honor
Society
at
the
high
school
is
also
holding
their
annual
safe
Halloween
on
Thursday
October
27th.
This
event
is
for
children
10
years
and
younger.
Our
students
are
also
collecting
hygiene
products
such
as
shampoo
conditioner,
deodorant
toothpaste,
toothbrushes,
razors
and
shaving,
cream
for
the
homeless
and
our
troops.
D
And
finally,
the
district
is
hosting
Saturday
Academy
again
for
students
in
grades.
Four
and
five
got
really
excited
about
this.
This
has
been
super
successful.
So
please
take
note
of
this.
This
is
the
district
Saturday
Academy
for
grades.
Four
and
five
parents
can
sign
up
on
the
link
on
parent
square
or
ask
their
teacher
for
assistance.
The
full
day
program
starts
on
Saturday
November
5th,
from
9
00
a.m
to
2
p.m.
Children
will
be
engaged
in
reading
math,
science,
arts
and
crafts,
team,
sports
and
Science
and
steam
related
activities.
D
A
So
so
your
tongue
tied
and
I'm
cottonmouth,
so
we're
there
all
right
moving
along
our
public
comment.
Section
members
of
the
public
who
would
like
to
address
the
Board
of
Education
may
do
so
by
completing
a
comment
form
provided
on
the
night
of
the
meeting.
A
total
of
three
minutes
shall
be
allotted
per
comment.
The
public
must
conduct
themselves
in
a
respectful
manner.
S
Good
evening
my
name
is
Joe
Fritz
I'm,
a
Brentwood
resident
and
I
can't
say
that
this
being
the
Hispanic
culture
month,
I
remember
when
I
was
a
student
at
the
Saint
Anne's
Elementary
School
in
the
1950s
and
one
of
the
students
had
come
over
from
Puerto
Rico
and
knew
nothing
about
the
English
language
and
I
could
just
imagine
the
the
frustration
he
must
have
had
and
I
want
to
say,
I'm
very,
very
proud
that
we
have
understanding
teachers,
administrators
and
people
who
live
in
the
in
the
village
of
Brentwood.
S
Without
them
we
would
be
not
as
culturally
diverse
as
other
community
with
that's
culturally
diverse
than
compared
to
other
communities
throughout
Long
Island,
but
I
want
to
speak
about
something
and
I
want
to
congratulate.
I
appreciate
your
your
comments,
because
I
gotta
chuckle
out
of
seeing
Mr
lotion
read
and
knowing
that
there's
a
feminine
vibe
to
it.
S
You
know-
and
he
finally
recognized
it,
but
in
any
case
it's
time
for
the
Brentwood
School
system
to
restore
an
important
program
that
I
took
when
I
was
a
student.
It's
time
to
reinstitute
the
driver's
education
program
to
the
high
school
as
a
student
at
Brentwood,
I
was
able
to
take
driver's
education
obtained.
My
senior
license
earlier,
so
I
could
find
employment
and
obtain
an
insurance
reduction
when
a
car
was
purchased.
S
This
course
was
shelved
when
there
was
an
economic
downturn
in
our
economy.
Now
Brentwood
is
flush
with
money,
and
it's
time
a
portion
of
it
is
used
to
help
the
Brentwood
School
District
have
its
students
to
be
able
to
take
driver's
education
lessons
without
paying
an
exorbitant
fee
to
the
driver.
Education,
schools
located
in
Islip
town,
the
drivers,
the
Brentwood
resident
Bears,
its
their
share
of
the
tax
dollar
to
support
education.
I.
Think
driver's
education
should
be
a
program
that
should
also
be
offered
Patrick.
S
Medford
has
the
program
why
stacler
pads
driver
said
Sable
has
drivers
in
connectquat
has
driver's
ed
Smithtown
schools
have
driver's
ed
hunting
in
schools
offer
drivers
education.
This
is
just
a
small
sample
of
some
schools
in
our
area
which
have
this
program.
I
asked
the
superintendent
I
asked
the
board:
do
you
think
the
Brentwood
School
District
residents
deserved
to
be
middle
class
and,
in
doing
so
offer
a
middle-class
program
such
as
driver's
education?
S
Why
should
Brentwood
students
pay
exorbitant
fees,
as
I
said
a
moment
ago
that
other
school
districts
do
not
it's
time
our
school
district
raises
its
opportunities
and
offers
the
students
of
Brentwood
this
opportunity,
like
my
mother,
said
to
me,
if
you
don't
ask,
if
you
do
not
ask,
the
answer
is
always
no
I
urge
you
to
consider
this
program
as
as
soon
as
it's
able
to
be
set
up
for
the
schools.
Thank
you
very
much.
A
A
D
We
we
do
post
them
online
every
day.
You
know
they
are
available,
obviously
through
a
computer
as
well
as
on
your
cell
phone
I.
We
have
lots
of
principles
here,
I
don't
know,
do
any
of
the
elementary
schools
send
the
menu
home?
No
okay,
I,
just
I
didn't
want
to
miss,
speak
I,
I
think
everybody
is
has
been
doing
it
online
for
the
last
number
of
years.
I
certainly
can
have
a
conversation
about
that.
I
mean
obviously
one
of
the
things
that
we
are
trying
to
do
as
a
district
is
to
go
paperless.
D
Also
we're
trying
to
encourage
parents.
You
know
to
sign
into
parent
Square,
to
sign
into
the
parent
portable
portal
a.
D
Plans,
well,
that's,
okay!
So
that's
why
something
we
can
discuss
sure
that
is
something
we
can
certainly
discuss,
and
we
can
talk
as
a
district.
If
that's
something
that
we
want
to
go
back
to
is
to
backpack
at
home.
We
have
like
I
said
we
have
lots
of
principles
here.
They
might
be
able
to
tell
me
how
exactly
they
sent
the
the
menus
home
in
the
old
days
prior
to
us,
keeping
it
online.
If.
Q
M
M
N
N
You
know
we
might
want
to
keep
it
on
social
media
and
Japan
Square.
Well,.
M
D
Can
certainly
look
into
different
ways.
We
can
look
into
some
ways,
I
think
what
Hassan
said
is.
Actually
you
know
something
you
know
worthy
to
look
into
and
that's
where
maybe
certain
parents
who
need
it
in
hard
copy
can
you
know
request
it?
Maybe
we
can
devise
a
way
to
send
it
home,
but
as
Miss
O'connor
said
that
you
know
we're
still
experiencing
the
supply
chain
issues.
D
So
if
people
are
paying
attention
lots
of
times
the
menu
changes
dramatically
as
the
month
progresses,
that's
number
one
number
two
is
something
that
is
on
the
menu
for
Wednesday.
Let's
say,
may
not
be
able
to
actually
be
produced
because
we
didn't
get
the
supplies
necessary
for
that
meal,
so
it
does
change
quite
a
bit,
but
as
long
as
we
qualify,
you
know
two
people
that
if
you
do
get
a
menu
in
heart,
hard
copy
that
it
does,
there
is
a
possibility.
It
would
change.
A
I
have
two
two
levers
good
evening
as
a
as
a
community
member
and
a
parent
of
a
special
needs
student
in
the
district
I
am
hoping
for
a
clearer
understanding
on
an
issue
that
was
brought
up
at
last
month's
board
meeting
regarding
CSE
meetings
being
in
person.
Can
it
be
explained
exactly
how
moving
forward
this
year
and
Beyond
what
exactly
is
considered
an
in-person
meeting
and
how
CSE
meetings
are
planned
to
be
held?
A
It
is
my
hope
that
any
plans,
the
district
has
will
include
that
any
and
all
members
of
the
CSE
committee
be
present
in
the
same
building
and
meet
together
in
the
same
room.
This
should
include
the
parent,
a
translator,
if
needed,
and
an
advocate,
if
the
parent
chooses
to
have
one
present,
to
have
the
committee
and
parents
in
multiple
different
locations
all
having
to
take
talk
over
the
phone,
the
same
phone
line
or
not
being
able
to
share
copies
of
documents.
A
D
D
B
Good
evening,
everyone
good
evening,
I
think
I
I
want
to
be
clear
that
we
have
different
types
of
CSE
meetings.
We
have
District
CSE
meetings
that
take
place
at
special
services.
We've
been
under
considerable
Construction
in
that
building,
so
we
kind
of
you
know
still
do
some
of
those
meetings
virtually.
We
were
able,
though,
to
locate
a
space
in
the
building,
and
we
were
told
that
they're
going
to
remove
the
trailer
off
last
so
we'll
be
able
to
use
that
space
to
do
in-person
meetings.
B
I
will
tell
you,
though,
all
annual
review
meetings
will
be
in
the
buildings
this
year
and
I
already.
Let
the
principals
know
that
we
were
going
back
to
in-person
meetings,
but
I
also
will
tell
you
that
we
got
an
increase
of
Parental
involvement
with
online
meetings.
More
parents
participate
in
online
meetings
than
we
ever
had
because
it's
easier
for
parents.
B
This
is
a
working
Community
but
I
like
the
in-person
meetings
more
for
the
staff,
because
you're
working
together
but
I
do
think
it
always
has
to
be
a
choice
for
our
parents,
because
many
of
our
parents
have
to
work
and
it's
very
convenient
for
them
to
take
a
lunch
break
or
to
go
outside
sign
into
a
meeting.
And
you
ask
how
the
meetings
happen.
We
do
online
meetings.
If
a
parent
has
a
computer,
they
could
go
online
and
we
could
bring
them.
B
They
could
join
online
on
a
team's
meeting
and
so
the
parents
on
there-
and
so
are
the
committee
members
when
we
do
an
online
meeting.
If
the
parent
doesn't
have
the
availability
availability
to
do
an
online
team's
meeting,
then
obviously
they
do
a
phone
conference,
but
parents
always
can
request
an
in-person
meeting.
Even
when
we
were
going
through
covet.
We
always
made
it
possible
if
a
parent
wanted
an
in-person
meeting
that
they
could
come
in,
but
they
would
come
in
with
just
the
chairperson,
because
we
were
under
social
distancing.
B
The
staff
will
be
in
the
building
wherever
that.
You
know
in
the
conference
room
with
Emmy,
so
the
staff
will
always
meet
together.
Okay,
but
the
parent
has
an
option.
You
know
when
we
do
the
the
what
is
it
the
annual
review
meetings,
the
staff
will
always
meet
together,
I
think
it's
better
for
processing
the
paperwork.
B
Having
the
conversation
I
think
it's
very
difficult
and
I
want
to
make
sure
that
everyone's
focused
on
the
meeting
and
paying
attention
and
I
think
my
entire
staff
agrees
that
having
the
staff
in
person
is
very,
very
important.
Although
we
want
the
parents,
but,
like
I,
said
many
of
the
parents
work-
and
this
is
a
working
community,
so
I
also
believe
that
parents
should
have
an
option.
B
B
A
Sorry,
thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
be
able
to
voice
my
concerns,
as
I
am
unable
to
attend
tonight's
meeting
in
person.
I
would
like
to
address
my
concerns
toward
both
the
board
and
Ms
Rhonda
young.
My
concern
is
regarding
the
teacher
assistants
and
their
availability
in
the
special
classes
to
support
the
teachers.
It
was
stated
that
the
goal
of
special
services
department
was
to
have
Tas
available
in
special
classes.
However,
the
IEPs
for
students
in
CWC
or
self-contained
classes
do
not
include
this
provision.
A
Can
I
in
the
community
be
made
aware
of
why
the
extra
support
of
a
TA
in
these
types
of
special
education
classrooms
has
been
taken
off
of
their
IEPs,
with
students
in
these
type
of
classes
being
anywhere
from
12
to
15
in
each
class?
Wouldn't
it
be
to
the
advantage
of
the
student
and
support
to
the
teacher
to
have
an
assistant
available
throughout
the
entire
school
day
to
help
strengthen
the
individuality
of
each
student's.
Iep
I
appreciate
your
feedback
on
this
matter.
B
All
right,
so
there's
a
lot
of
things
in
there.
One
thing
that
I'd
like
to
express
is
that
I
don't
set
the
ratios
for
a
special
class
or
self-contained
classes
that
is
set
by
New
York
state.
So
we
have
a
15
one.
We
have
12
1
Ones
for
only
kindergarten,
C
integrated
co-teaching
classes,
all
other
integrated
co-teaching
classes
in
the
district
are
12-1.
So
that
means
that
there
are
12
special
education
students
and
one
teacher
if
it
is
a
12-1-1
setting.
B
That
means
that
there
are
12
students,
one
teacher
and
one
teacher
assistant,
all
of
our
15
one
special
classes
is
really
just
according
to
New
York
State,
15
students
and
one
special
education
teacher.
What
happened
in
Brentwood
for
years
is
that
we've
been
very
generous
and
we
and
and
I
hope
that
we
get
back
there
relatively
soon.
B
I
did
get
good
news
from
Nicole
Valente
over
in
our
human
resources
department,
and
she
did
tell
me
that
she
finally
heard
back
from
civil
service
and
she's
hopeful
that
we'll
get
a
letter
of
approval
to
hire
on
the
new
positions
that
I'm
grateful,
that
the
board
approved
relatively
recently.
A
couple
of
months
ago,
as
you're
aware,
Civil
Service
had
you
know
they
were
hacked,
so
things
were
moving
relatively
slowly,
so
we
weren't
able
to
hire
in
those
new
positions.
B
One
of
the
things
that
has
happened
in
Brentwood
is
we
hired
only
teacher
assistants
in
the
past
teacher
assistants
are
instructional
support
assistance,
so
they
provide
instructional
support
in
the
class
teacher
aides
and
special
education,
Aid
States.
They
address
more
physical
needs
of
students.
That's
why
we
created
the
two
positions:
I
have
an
abundance
of
teacher
assistance,
but
I
have
several
kids
within
the
district
that
are
in
Pampers
and
wheelchairs
that
need
their
physical
needs
to
be
addressed.
B
I
still
want
to
use
the
teacher
assistance
and
I
would
love
to
support
all
of
our
special
education
classrooms.
But
right
now
there's
a
need
for
special
education
AIDS.
Once
we're
able
to
hire
the
aides,
then
we
can
move
the
teacher
assistance
into
those
positions
where
they'll
they're
needed
for
instructional
support
to
assist
the
classrooms.
D
It's
also
important
to
note
that
the
committee
makes
these
determinations.
It's
not
it's
not
Miss
Young.
You
know
when
they
sit
in
committee.
The
recommendations
are
made
by
the
committee
they're
documented
by
the
committee
chairperson
and
they're,
agreed
to
by
everyone
there.
So
it's
not
Miss
Young
who's,
removing
or
adding
services
or
or
instructional
staff.
D
A
We
have
another
question
from
Community
member
hello.
What
is
going
on
with
the
fields
at
the
Brentwood
High
School?
Our
kids
deserve
nice.
Sports
feels
thank
you
so
much
for
that
question.
We
actually
had
a
workshop
on
October
13th,
with
a
presentation
by
Miss
Stacy
O'connor,
which
gave
great
detail
as
to
the
various
phases
of
the
new
construction
of
fields.
A
We
are
scheduled
to
begin
phase
one
and
spring,
and
if
you
want
to
elaborate
a
little
bit,
Ms
O'connor
I'd
appreciate
it.
Yeah.
Q
It's
our
plan
to
to
break
ground
on
the
new
turf
fields
in
the
spring.
That
will
be
the
first
field,
the
soccer
field,
which
is
right
alongside
Third
Avenue.
So
we're
really
excited
about
that.
And
if
you
go
back
to
that
presentation,
because
it's
online,
you
can
see
it
on
YouTube,
we
had
like
a
rendition
like
a
little
movie
type
thing
of
the
Pavilion,
that's
going
to
be
in
between
this,
the
soccer
field
and
the
current
football
field,
which
will
will
eventually
be
doing
as
well.
Q
It's
really
a
very
impressive
structure,
it'll
be
a
Culinary
Kitchen
for
our
students.
During
the
week
we
could
run
another
BOCES
type
program
there,
and
you
could
really
see
that
building
how
it's
going
to
look
in
detail,
but
first
field
again.
We
should
start
in
the
spring
yeah.
D
D
You
can
take
a
look
at
the
board
meeting
and,
as
Miss
O'connor
said,
there's
actually
a
rendition
of
what
the
3D
rendition
of
what
the
fields
will
look
like
and
that
field
house
I
think
is
just
going
to
be
exceptional,
but
we
hope
our
hope
and
again
lots
of
factors
can
impact
this.
The
supply
chain,
which
we
mentioned
earlier,
might
be
a
factor.
However,
we
do
hope
that
next
fall,
our
soccer
teams
will
be
playing
on
a
turf
field
with
a
stadium
you
know
set
up
for
visitors
and
for
home.
D
O
I
just
want
to
note
that
that
rendition
was
quite
a
rendition
I
believe
some
of
us
Ood
and
odd
at
that
rendition.
I
just
I.
