Thank
You.
Mr.
speaker
today
marks
the
beginning
of
multiculturalism
week.
It
is
a
week
to
celebrate
the
great
diversity
of
cultures
and
backgrounds.
They
have
helped
build
this
province
and
this
country,
but
this
Columbia
is
home
to
204,
First,
Nations,
Metis
and
urban
indigenous
communities
and
residents
who
trace
their
origins
to
more
than
200
countries
or
regions.
Many
of
my
colleagues
in
this
house,
including
myself,
come
from
immigrant
families
are
immigrated
to
Canada
themselves
and
all
of
us
represent
a
wide
array
of
cultural
communities
within
our
ridings
I'm
sure.
A
While
it
is
important
to
celebrate
and
take
pride
in
our
achievements,
it
is
equally
important
that
we
recognize
and
stand
up
to
the
reason
rising
sentiments
of
racism
and
intolerance
around
the
group
and
even
here
at
home.
Let's
ensure
we
work
together
to
fight
against
these
ideas,
built
to
divide
our
province
and
nation
and
instead
build
the
province
as
opportunity
for
everyone.
A
During
this
week,
I
encourage
each
and
every
one
of
you
all
to
take
time
to
learn
about
the
history
of
multiculturalism
in
British,
Columbia
and
honor
the
vibrant
heritage,
our
communities
together
I
think
we
can
find
ways
to
protect
the
spirit
of
inclusion
and
torrance
that
build
this
province
and
continue
to
do
so.
Every
day,
Thank
You
mr.
speaker.
