4th Session
41st Parliament
NOVEMBER 25 2019 Statements Anne Kang
A
Remember
for
Burnaby
dearly,
Thank
You
honorable
speaker
last
week
in
the
BC
legislature
was
BC
multiculturalism
week,
which
celebrates
an
incredible
diversity.
We
are
lucky
to
have
here
in
our
province.
It
was
an
opportunity
for
us
to
think
about
how
we
can
all
contribute
to
the
greater
understanding,
respect
and
appreciation
for
everyone
in
BC
and
for
me,
that
starts
with
connection
connection
to
the
history
of
BC,
our
individual
Heritage's
and,
with
each
other
I'm
grateful
to
live
and
work
on
the
territories
of
indigenous
peoples
who
have
lived
on
these
lands
for
thousands
of
years.
A
I
acknowledge
and
respect
their
diverse
culture
and
deep
connections
to
the
land
and
together
with
indigenous
peoples.
Our
government
continues
the
journey
forward
on
reconciliation
to
make
life
better
for
everyone
in
BC.
It
is
also
amazing
to
be
part
of
a
cultural
mosaic
that
is
home
to
people
who
trace
their
origins
to
all
corners
of
the
world
as
a
first-generation
Canadian
I
realized
it
takes
courage.
It
takes
courage
for
people
to
leave
their
homeland
behind
it
to
search
for
new
opportunities
and
a
better
life
for
their
families.
A
This
year
for
multiculturalism
week,
I
encouraged
everyone
in
BC
to
find
ways
to
learn
about
and
build
connections
with,
people
from
cultures
and
backgrounds
different
from
their
own
and
personally
I,
find
it
fascinating
to
learn
about
histories,
traditions,
perspectives
and
ways
of
life
that
are
different
from
my
own,
a
species
newly
appointed
parliamentary
secretary
for
multiculturalism
I'm
committed
to
doing
everything
that
I
can
to
uphold
and
protect
bc's
cultural
diversity
when
I
think
about
the
future,
I'm
filled
with
hope
that
our
children
will
grow
up
in
a
world
where
everyone
feels
valued
and
respected.
I.
