Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
5th Session
41st Parliament
A
A
Tristan
is
a
2016
triple
Paralympic
medalist
and
silver
medal
winner
at
the
Peres
cycling
track
world
championships
in
February,
the
Summer
Paralympic
Games
in
Tokyo
this
year
have
been
postponed
due
to
Koba
19,
so
Tristan,
a
kramnik
resident
is
going
to
tackle
a
challenge
a
little
closer
to
home,
nor
as
a
BC
epic
1000
Tristan
is
all
too
familiar
with
the
Olympic
Oval
race
track,
but
this
epic
journey
is
something
he
has
never
seen
before.
The
BC
epic
1000
is
1066
kilometer
route.
A
That
runs
mostly
along
the
trans-canada
trail
from
ferny
through
the
back
trails
of
the
Kootenay
Xin
Okanagan
to
Mara
according
to
Tristan
the
fastest
time
the
route
has
been
ridden
before
is
three
days.
15
hours
and
22
minutes
Tristan
left
at
4
a.m.
Saturday
morning
and
hopes
to
be
done
some
time
before
Tuesday
Tuesday
at
noon.
Tristan
plans
to
break
the
record
Tristan's
motivation
to
take
on
this
challenge
is:
he
is
to
use
the
ride
to
raise
money
via
donations
for
the
Paralympic
Foundation
of
Canada.
A
It
is
a
foundation
that
he
says
has
benefited
him
greatly
as
an
athlete,
and
the
funds
will
go
toward
creating
access
to
sport
for
more
Canadians
with
a
disability.
The
Paralympic
Foundation
is
all
about
diversity
and
inclusion,
and
those
are
two
big
words
that
mean
a
lot.
Tristan
said
for
me,
it's
just
another
great
organization
that
is
helping
the
global
awareness
and
human
population
make
better
choices
when
it
comes
to
understanding
what
diversity
and
inclusion
really
looks.
A
Like
Tristan
said
he
is
mentally
prepared
for
the
BC
epic
1000
as
he
can
be,
but
it
will
be
the
terrain.
He
is
not
used
to
riding
the
route,
includes:
riding
gravel
forestry,
roads,
mountain
bike
trails
and
some
on
the
highways
and
byways.
We
all
wish
Tristan
the
best
of
luck
and
safe
travels
in
his
epic
trek
through
our
provinces,
rugged
interior,
and
we
thank
him
for
his
pursuit
and
making
BC
more
inclusive
and
diverse.
Thank
you.
