Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
5th Session
41st Parliament
A
Number
Richmond
South
Center.
Thank
you
very
much.
I
was
delighted
to
celebrate
a
significant
milestone
on
February
7
2020,
with
the
original
steering
committee
of
the
BC
early
hearing
program,
comprised
of
laurie
usher
anne-marie
new
rock
susan
lane,
Janet
Jameson
and
Caulfield
Fred
Kozak
and
dr.
Donna
brendensen.
The
program
announcement
that
they
made
that
day
was
that
5000
British
Columbia
newborn
babies
have
been
successively
screened.
This
world-class
program
has
done
remarkable
work.
Please
join
me
in
thanking
these
amazing
professionals
for
the
work
they
do
to
support
BC
families.
The
room
would
be
sue.
A
Children's
Hospital
was
a
sighting
place
to
recognize
this
wonderful
achievement
and
I
can
share
with
many
ministers
back
in
the
day
that
to
see
a
program
that
you
were
in
fact
responsible
for,
come
to
life
and
actually
have
a
huge
milestone
to
celebrate
warms.
My
heart,
BC
early
hearing
program
is
a
province-wide
program
for
early
hearing.
This
meeting
and
intervention
babies
start
to
learn,
speech
and
language
from
the
moment
they
are
born.
A
If
your
baby
can't
hear
well,
he
or
she
may
have
problems
learning
to
talk
and
to
develop
language
skills
about
one
of
every
300.
Babies
is
born
with
a
hearing
loss
in
one
or
both
ears.
This
number
increases
for
babies
who
require
a
special
care
at
birth.
It
is
not
easy
to
identify
that
a
young
baby
has
a
hearing
loss
by
simply
watching
his
or
her
behavior.
Without
early
screening,
many
babies
with
hearing
loss
go
undetected,
while
you're
in
the
hospital
you'll
be
offered
a
hearing.
A
Screening
for
your
baby,
a
trained
hearing
screener
conducts
the
test.
The
test
uses
quick,
simple
and
safe
methods
to
check
the
hearing
of
a
newborn
babe.
If
your
baby
is
not
screened
in
the
hospital
screening
to
be
done
at
your
closest
public
health
screening
clinic
