The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
5th Session
41st Parliament
A
Member
north
coast,
if
you're
from
prince
rupert,
laqualam's,
metlakatla
or
any
number
of
simshan
or
haida
communities,
you
likely
know
mary
wesley
and,
quite
frankly,
mary
wesley
probably
knows
you
with
a
quiet
disposition,
but
a
giant
smile
and
presence
in
our
lives.
We
celebrate
mary
mary
wesley
has
recently
retired
from
more
than
30
years
of
committed
service
to
northern
health
and
aboriginal
communities
across
the
northwest.
A
Twelve
of
those
years
she
served
as
the
aboriginal
patient
liaison
at
the
prince
rupert
regional
hospital.
She
was
the
first
aboriginal
patient
liaison
in
the
north
and
helped
shape
the
program
that
has
now
been
established
throughout
the
province
as
an
early
innovator.
She
also
served
as
a
mentor
to
other
apls,
and
for
that
we
are
so
grateful.
A
A
Her
presence
in
the
raven
room
also
facilitated
wellness
checks
for
many
visiting
first
nations,
who
may
have
limited
access
to
health
care
in
their
home
communities,
mary's
dedication
to
cultural
competency,
dignity,
respect
and
trust,
while
ensuring
deliver
delivery
of
high
quality
medical
care
will
be
missed
by
not
only
those
in
the
northern
health
authority,
but
by
all
of
us,
whose
lives
have
been
touched
by
mary
mary
could
recently
be
seen
riding
off
into
the
sunset
of
retirement
on
a
harley
davidson.
So
with
much
gratitude.
We
wish
her
all
the
best
in
her
future
endeavors.
