From YouTube: JULY 27 2020 Statements Sheila Malcolmson
Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
5th Session
41st Parliament
A
Today
was
supposed
to
be
nanemo's
2020
tribal
journey,
landing
right
here
in
nanaimo
with
a
theme
of
honoring
the
salmon.
I
woke
up
and
saw
a
message
from
emmy
manson
on
on
facebook.
That
said,
I'm
missing
journeys
and
how
important
this
annual
event
has
played
into
my
healing
journey
for
myself
and
many
of
my
family
members,
it
truly
is
a
healing
journey.
A
You
can
imagine
it
tribal
canoes
from
alaska
from
washington
state
from
all
over
the
bc
coast
all
coming
together,
and
this
year
it
was
namo
who
had
the
honor
of
being
invited
to
host
first
time
in
30
years.
A
You
can
imagine
what
happened
with
especially
family,
coming
from
both
sides
of
the
border
chief
wise
said
quote
our
community
with
heavy
hearts
had
to
postpone.
We
did
not
want
to
take
any
risk
during
this
critical
time.
During
cobit,
we
look
into
the
future
to
propose
a
new
date
to
host
instantemo,
but
because
it
isn't
happening,
I
want
to
give
everybody
across
bc
a
picture
of
what
this
summer,
hot
summer
day,
might
have
been
like
if
we
weren't
in
the
pandemic.
Still
here's
a
friend,
tate's
description.
A
With
the
passing
of
every
day,
you
can
witness
youth-growing
connection
to
their
own
culture,
their
songs,
their
dances,
it's
they
with
the
best
energy
to
paddle
for
each
hours
each
day
and
then
share
culture
into
the
early
hours
each
morning,
we're
so
proud
of
chief,
wise
and
stenemo
for
being
willing
to
host
all
of
the
partners
they
organized
to
work
with
them,
and
we
look
forward
to
having
the
canoes
land
here
on
nanaimo's
beaches
in
another
time
in
a
better
year.
Thank
you.
