Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
5th Session
41st Parliament
A
Remember
for
Kamloops
nor
thumbs,
Thank
You.
Mr.
speaker,
mr.
speaker,
when
master
Rob
McDermott
announced
his
retirement
from
the
Supreme
Court
seat
in
Kamloops.
The
legal
community
in
Kamloops
had
a
couple
of
concerns.
Who
would
fill
Master
McDermott's
considerable
shoes,
and
would
the
new
master
still
be
located
in
the
Caliph's
law
courts,
the
ability
for
local
people
and
their
lawyers
representing
them
to
access
the
court
without
added
cost
sometime
with
trying
to
get
to
Vancouver,
is
very
important
for
equitable
access
to
the
judicial
system.
A
Fortunately,
the
decision
was
made
to
keep
the
position
in
Kamloops
and
in
early
December
master.
Jennifer
Kim
was
introduced
to
the
community
with
an
official
ceremony
in
Kamloops.
This
fall
of
her
assuming
the
position
in
late
fall.
Master
crime
previously
had
in
almost
20
year,
career
and
family,
along
with
Fulton
and
company
in
Kamloops,
before
switching
to
a
more
corporate
law
focus
and
ultimately
becoming
the
general
counsel
for
BC
lotteries.
A
longtime,
countless
resident
with
deep
roots
in
the
community
has
made
her
a
great
choice
to
fill
the
role.
A
Master
Kim
has
a
long
and
varied
list
of
groups
that
she
has
found
time
to
volunteer
with
from
her
church
to
her
kids
sports
organizations
to
groups
helping
the
vulnerable
in
our
community.
Master
Kim
is
always
willing
to
lend
a
hand.
The
legal
community
and
Kamloops
was
understandably
estatic
when
they
discovered
that
not
only
would
the
position
stay
in
Kamloops
law
courts,
but
it
was
to
be
filled
with
someone
already
well
ingrained
in
the
Kamloops
community.
I
think
everyone
agrees
that
she
was
a
great
choice
and
thanks
to
the
Attorney
General,
for
making
the
appointment.
