Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
5th Session
41st Parliament
A
Remember,
Richmond
North
Center
on
Saturday,
June
27
communities
across
Canada
will
celebrate
multicultural
Sunday
a
day
to
celebrate
the
vast
cultural
diversity
of
our
country
and
how
enriches
our
everyday
lives.
Multiculturalism
Day
is
about
more
than
celebrating
our
cultural
diversity.
It
is
about
affirming
our
province
commitment
to
making
British
Columbia
a
place
that
is
welcome
to
people
of
all
cultures,
identities,
religions
and
backgrounds.
Earlier
this
week,
I
stood
in
this
house,
so
we
affirm
our
commitment
to
fighting
against
rising
racism
and
hate
crimes
in
our
province.
A
Soe
done
by
the
race
relations
in
Canada
in
2019
found
that
majorities
of
black
indigenous
Canadians
reported
experiencing
racism
or
discrimination
due
to
race
or
ethnicity.
A
new
poll
from
Angus
Reid
and
the
University
of
Alberta
suggest
a
large
percentage
of
people
who
identify
a
Chinese
Canadians
have
experienced
some
type
of
reason.
Since
the
Corollas
pandemic
began
of
the
more
than
500
Canadians
of
Chinese
ethnicity,
surveyed,
half
reported
being
called
names
or
insulted
as
a
direct
result
of
ko
at
19,
nearly
80
percent
of
the
respondents
said
they
felt
strongly.
A
The
Canadians
plain
people
of
Chinese
ethnicity,
for
covert
19
multiculturalism
is
something
we
must
embrace
every
day
and
the
events
surrounding
both
within
our
own
apartment
show
us
that
it
is
more
important
than
ever
for
us
to
promote
inclusion
and
acceptance
in
BC.
So
please
take
a
moment
this
weekend
to
refresh
on
and
celebrate
the
culture
and
heritage
of
our
families,
our
friends,
our
neighbors
and
our
colleagues
with
actions
and
gesture.
There
celebrate
our
diversity
and
this
beautiful,
diverse
Portland's.
We
all
are
so
lucky
to
call
home.
A
Finally,
Mr
Speaker
I
would
like
to
take
this
opportunity
to
congratulate
the
trendy
trendy,
great
so
Burnett
secondary
school
in
my
riding
of
Richmond
nerve
center.
My
warmest
horse
and
hyssop
are
with
you
as
you
celebrate
your
graduation,
always
remember:
there's
no
limit
to
what
you
can
achieve.
Thank
You
mr.
speaker,.
