Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
1st Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
chelbach
kent.
Thank
you.
Honorable
speaker.
I
rise
today
speaking
from
the
unseated
traditional
territories
of
the
stalo
people,
to
recognize
one
of
many
examples
of
resilience
and
community
spirit
in
chile.
Kent
on
february
21st,
the
graduating
class
of
agassi
elementary
secondary
school
had
a
bottle
drive
to
raise
funds
for
their
graduation
activities,
like
so
many
grads
this
year
and
last.
The
traditional
activities
surrounding
this
important
milestone
will
look
different
due
to
covid19.
A
The
grad
committee
at
aess
went
around
the
community
collecting
return
plastics
from
the
community.
However,
on
march
9th,
a
large
portion
of
what
was
collected
was
stolen
from
the
private
property,
where
the
kansan
bottles
were
being
stored.
It
is
estimated
that
roughly
a
thousand
dollars
was
lost
to
this
theft.
I
had
the
chance
to
connect
with
two
soon-to-be
graduates:
grad
committee,
member
nicole
poole
and
student
council,
president
mackenzie
bavaria,
and
they
shared
their
disappointment
with
me
on
march,
11,
nicole,
shared
the
news
of
the
theft
on
facebook
and
her
disappointment.
