Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
1st Session
42nd Parliament
A
A
This
past
year
has
been
one
of
hardship
and
refraction
on
racial
injustice
and
discrimination
for
many
racism
and
bigotry
must
be
opposed
every
day,
and
today
we
take
the
time
to
acknowledge
the
progress
that
has
been
made.
Yet
our
mission
to
eliminate
racism,
prejudice
and
hate
here
in
british
columbia
and
around
the
world
is
far
from
over.
A
The
ongoing
kuwait
19
pandemic
has
highlighted
the
disturbing
anti-asian
racism
and
discrimination
that
happens
in
every
corner
of
bc,
evidenced
by
the
troubling
717
percent
increase
in
anti-asian
hate
crimes
in
vancouver
alone.
Racial
discrimination
has
no
place
in
bc
and
we
must
ensure
our
communities
are
safe
for
all.
A
Every
citizen
of
bc
has
a
moral
obligation
and
a
civil
responsibility
to
stop
the
spread
of
racial
stereotypes.
False
information,
synophobic
fear,
mongering
and
scapegoating
that
we
have
seen
in
this
province
throughout
the
pandemic.
This
rise
in
racial
discrimination
is
unacceptable
and
we
must
all
work
towards
eliminating
bigotry
within
our
communities.
