Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
2nd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
sorry
guilford.
Thank
you
honorable
speaker.
I'm
pleased
today
to
pay
tribute
to
an
amazing
and
dedicated
community
leader
who
has
been
a
driving
force
in
surrey
for
many
years.
In
her
work
with
the
surrey
food
bank,
fisa
jaffer
has
been
the
executive
director
of
the
food
bank
since
2017,
and
during
that
time
the
bank
has
undergone
and
continues
to
undergo,
dramatic
and
remarkable
progress
and
change.
A
A
passionate
collaborator
fisa
was
responsible,
among
other
things,
for
leading
the
food
bank
into
its
next
stage
of
growth
and
a
new
building.
The
organization
under
her
leadership,
found
a
new
home,
a
block
and
a
half
west
of
king
george
boulevard
and
measuring
23
000
square
feet
three
times
the
size
of
the
former
building.
Earlier
this
year.
Fisa
was
honored
in
what
is
probably
best
described
as
at
least
slightly
ironic,
but
at
the
same
time,
very
fitting.
She
got
to
see
her
face.
A
Memorialized
on
the
front
of
a
box
of
breakfast
cereal
fisa
was
one
of
five
food
bank
workers
from
across
canada
chosen
by
general
mills
to
achieve
to
appear
on
a
cheerios
box.
Her
photo
is
on
the
trademark
yellow
box,
along
with
the
red
maple
leaf
under
the
banner
cheer
on
the
front
line
next
to
jaffer's
photo
is
her
name
in
big,
bold
letters
and
food
bank
hero.
