Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
2nd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
vernon
monashi-
thank
you,
mr
speaker.
On
may
6.
My
heart
was
filled
with
joy.
As
I
read
our
in
our
local
paper
about
the
incredible
generosity
of
one
of
vernon
monash's
beloved
constituents.
Former
school
teacher
98
year,
young
helen
sydney
of
vernon
donated
100
000
dollars
to
a
local
elementary
school.
The
money
will
be
used
to
help
transform
the
school's
library
into
modern
learning
commons.
This
comes
as
the
school
itself
is
about
to
celebrate
its
100th
anniversary.
A
A
This
wonderful
human
being
is
a
fixture
in
our
community
every
morning
for
the
past
30
years,
rain
shines
no
hail
helen
walks
along
a
road
in
our
community
called
bella
vista
picking
up
the
trash
in
her
highways
west
and
bonnet
helen
waves
to
all
the
motorized
drive
by
on
their
way
to
work,
school
or
daily
routines.
Mr
speaker,
helen
is
what
is
at
the
heart
of
my
riding
of
vernon
monashi,
kindness,
compassion,
generosity
and
pride.
A
I
wanted
to
take
the
time
to
acknowledge
helen
and
her
contributions
to
our
community
as
we
find
ourselves
transitioning
out
of
difficult
year
to
a
new
and
hopeful
days
ahead.
Helen
serves
as
a
constant
daily
reminder
for
many
people
in
vernon
monashi.
Every
day
we
have
a
choice
we
can
choose
to
give
freely,
we
can
choose
to
be
kind
and
considerate.
We
can
choose
to
bring
smiles
to
those
around
us
like
helen.
We
can
choose
to
make
the
world
a
little
bit
brighter
and
better.
Thank
you.
