Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
2nd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
langley
east.
Thank
you
honorable
speaker.
Thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
rise
in
the
house
today
to
speak
of
an
important
initiative
underway
in
the
community
of
the
langleys.
The
langley
municipalities
consist
of
the
township
of
langley
and
langley
city.
My
riding
of
langley
east
is
wholly
within
the
township.
The
city
and
a
smaller
portion
of
the
township
of
langley
are
represented
by
my
friend
and
colleague,
the
member
from
langley.
The
populations
of
the
langleys
have
risen
significantly
over
the
past
several
years.
A
Increasing
density
and
changing
demographics
with
the
significant
population
growth
we're
seeing
an
increase
in
those
experiencing
homelessness.
With
two
municipalities,
the
challenge
is
to
ensure
that
we're
not
competing
for
the
same
resources
and
the
resources
go
to
the
correct
places
to
service
areas
of
greatest
need.
A
To
address
this,
I
consulted
with
the
ministry
of
social
development
and
poverty
reduction
on
how
we
could
best
coordinate
and
they
suggested
a
community
action
table
and
help
me
identify
those
to
invite
I'm
fortunate
to
represent
a
generous
and
dedicated
community
where
my
call
was
answered
and
they
all
came
to
the
table.
Mr
speaker,
I
would
like
to
take
an
opportunity
to
