Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
2nd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
sorry,
white
rock,
thank
you,
mr
speaker.
For
many
of
us.
The
past
year
has
been
one
of
the
most
challenging
for
our
mental
health.
Frontline
workers
are
coping
with
burnout.
Countless
children
and
youth
are
struggling
with
isolation,
and
many
seniors
are
feeling
lonely
and
far
too
many
british
colombians
in
every
corner
of
this
province
are
suffering
in
silence.
A
A
There
is
no
member
of
this
house
that
has
not
been
touched
by
mental
health,
and
I
know
that
growing
up
in
my
family.
We
did
not
discuss
this
enough
at
our
kitchen
table,
but
I
can
assure
this
house,
like
other
members,
are
that
we
are
having
those
conversations
at
our
kitchen
tables
with
our
kids
with
grandkids
with
grandparents.
It
is
so
important
to
be
doing
this.
Every
day
mental
health
has
touched
my
family
at
numerous
levels.
A
I
I
I
lost
an
aunt
ten
years
ago
to
mental
health
and
it's
something
that
I
think
about
every
single
day
to
see
what
I
could
have
done
more.
A
What
my
family
could
have
done
more,
what
we
as
a
society
could
have
done
more
to
make
sure
that
she
was
with
us
today,
and
that
is
not
the
case,
but
it
is
a
burden
that
I
wear
my
family
wears,
and
I
know
there
are
many
other
families
in
this
house
and
outside
of
it
that
wear
that
every
single
day
it's
one
we
take
seriously
so
on
sunday
it
is
world
mental
health
day,
but
every
day
we
need
to
continue
those
conversations
and
make
sure
we
are
checking
in
on
each
other
and
keeping
everybody
safe
and
aware
when
it
comes
to
mental
health.
