Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
2nd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
study
white
rock-
all
right-
thank
you,
mr
speaker.
Every
great
community
is
is
made
up
by
diverse
and
unique
individuals
and
characters
that
that
they
call
home
and
in
white
rock
one
of
those
characters
was
a
friend
of
mine
called
s,
edward
west
bell.
Now
edward
was
he
was.
He
was
a
person
that
faced
some
very
unique
challenges
in
life
and
embraced
them
wholly.
Ed
was
born
in
vancouver
on
june
17th
1948
and
he
was
brought
up
in
ladner.
A
A
I
got
to
know
ed,
as
my
mother
had
a
restaurant
in
ocean
park
and
in
south
surrey
there
and
ed
would
play
most
afternoons
in
front
of
my
mom's
shop
and
quite
often
my
mom,
you
know,
as
my
mom
would
take
out
a
sandwich
and
say
this
is
on
the
house
and
he
would
he
would
eat
a
sandwich
and
he
finally
came
into
my
mom's
shop
and
said
I
I
don't
want
to
take
this
for
free
anymore.
I
I
want
to
make
sure
that
I'm
providing
you
something
in
return.
A
So
my
mother
said:
okay,
how
about
you
start
giving
my
son
some
guitar
lessons,
and
that
was
a
bond.
That
was-
and
it
wasn't
me
that
got
the
guitar
lessons,
because
those
that
know
me
know
that
I
am
musically
inept,
but
my
brother
and
his
relationship
started
then,
in
terms
of
in
terms
of
learning
how
to
use
guitar
we
lost
ed.
A
A
month
ago
we
lost
that
due
to
cancer
and
white
rock
lost
an
iconic
character
and
there
will
be
a
deep
void
in
front
of
that
whale
wall
in
the
months
ahead.
I
would
like
to
point
out
that
that
ed
donated
all
of
his
musical
instruments
and
his
guitars
to
options
community
services
society,
so
that
many
people
in
those
places
can
use
those
going
forward,
so
ed's
legacy
will
live
on.
Thank
you.
