Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
2nd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
vernon
monashi.
Thank
you.
Honorable
speaker
october
is
breast
cancer
awareness
month.
I
want
to
highlight
the
need
to
create
more
awareness
around
early
detection
of
breast
cancer
in
memory
of
my
friend
dalvir
nahal.
Unfortunately,
in
vernon
monashi
we
have
lost
our
incredible
long
time.
A
Delveer
was
the
founder
of
one
of
her
community's
biggest
and
successful
events,
bollywood
bank,
which
raised
hundreds
and
thousands
of
dollars
for
charities
and
non-profit
organizations
in
our
community,
including
hospital
foundation
where
money
was
used
to
build
rooms
in
hospital
and
cancer
clinic
and
provide
cancer
treatment
to
patients
without
health
benefits.
This
event
also
brought
us
all
together
where
we
celebrated
our
communities,
diversity
and
generosity.
A
Delvie
received
bc
achievement
award
in
2017
for
her
work
in
community,
as
well
as
the
multiculturalism
and
anti-racism
award
in
2019,
which
was
presented
to
her
by
her
premier,
delvir,
always
encouraged
others.
One
of
her
message
to
me
last
year
was,
I
quote,
just
sending
you
positive
thoughts
on
positive
energy.
Almost
there
keep
smiling,
don't
stop
believing
and
quote.
Delvir
maintains
such
a
positive
outlook
about
life.
She
always
helped
and
inspired
others,
and
despite
her
own
battle
with
cancer,
her
smile
was
infectious.
