Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
2nd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
richmond
north
center.
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
The
third
week
of
november
is
known
as
multiculturalism
week
a
week
to
celebrate
the
many
contributions
our
multicultural
communities
have
made
to
build
bc
and
honor
the
incredible
cultural
diversity
that
drives
our
province,
success
and
identity.
A
As
an
immigrant
myself,
I
share
similar
experiences
with
many
of
our
colleagues
in
this
house
and
counters
british
columbians
across
our
province.
Whether
we
are
first
nations
first
generation
of
first
generation
british
colombians,
we
must
embrace
our
diverse
cultural
backgrounds
and
celebrate
our
common
identity,
as
british
colombians
being
a
british
colombian
is
not
determined
by
the
soil
we
are
born
on.
A
A
It's
about
recognizing
the
many
challenges
our
cultural
minorities
have
and
continue
to
face
from
the
rise
in
race
incidents
perpetrated
against
asian
canadians
and
other
cultural
minorities
to
the
horrific
discovery
of
unmarked
graves
at
residential
school
sites.
We
are
reminded
every
day
that
we
still
have
far
to
go
to
truly
eliminate
racism,
advanced
truth
and
reconciliation
and
build
a
province
where
cultural
identity
and
background
is
never
a
barrier
in
life.
