Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
2nd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
north
vancouver
seymour.
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
I
appreciate
the
opportunity
to
once
again
address
the
house
today
acknowledging
the
songhis
and
esquimant
lukongan
speaking
people
on
whose
land
we
speak
in
debate,
as
well
as
the
slaver
tooth
and
squamish
nations,
on
whose
land
I
live
and
work
today,
and
for
the
next
11
days
I
will
wear
a
poppy.
I
and
most
people
living
in
british
columbia
today
are
fortunate
in
that
we've
never
been
actively
involved
in
a
theater
of
war.
A
However,
the
poppy
reminds
us
of
those
who
have
served
on
our
behalf
and
on
the
behalf
of
all
canadians,
navy,
army
and
air
force,
regular
and
reserve
service
men
and
service
women
have
represented
canada
throughout
the
world
in
combat
peace
initiatives.
Multi-Nation
efforts
such
as
drug
interdiction
and
anti-piracy
efforts,
as
well
as
relief
missions
for
a
variety
of
natural
events
such
as
earthquakes
and
tsunamis,
and
our
veterans
have
served
honorably
over
the
past
century
and
more.
A
We
have
some
who
remember
world
war
ii,
others
who
were
in
korea
and
vietnam
and
many
who
went
to
afghanistan
a
lot
of
those
veterans,
families
of
serving
members
serving
members
and
reservists
live
in
my
community
of
north
vancouver
seymour
on
november
11th.
We
will
pause
at
the
11th
hour
of
the
11th
day
of
the
11th
month,
which
marked
the
end
of
world
war,
one
the
great
war
and
listen
to
the
words
of
the
poet
robert
lawrence
binion.
