The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
3rd Session
42nd Parliament
B
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
How
do
you
honor
your
ancestors
starting
today
and
in
the
coming
days,
chinese
communities
in
british
columbia
will
come
together
for
the
ching
ming
festival?
According
to
the
lunar
calendar,
chiang
ming
takes
place
on
the
15th
day
after
the
spring
equinox,
which
puts
the
festival
in
early
april
every
year.
B
During
this
time,
chinese
families
in
bc
will
gather
to
pay
respect
to
their
ancestors
in
english.
Ching
ming
is
known
as
tom
sweeping
day
over
the
past
two
years.
The
kobe
19
pandemic
has
posed
challenges
for
qingming
gatherings,
I'm
looking
forward
to
this
year's
ceremonies
when
families
can
finally
gather
together
in
person
to
reconnect
with
their
loved
ones.
I
myself
commemorate
my
late
father,
my
late
sister
and
my
late
husband
in
chiang
mai.

Thank
you
honorable
speaker
today.
I
rise
in
this
house
to
recognize
national
caregiver
day
to
honor
all
the
hard
work
and
dedication
that
caregivers
offer
around
the
clock
in
our
province,
country
and
in
the
world.
Caregivers
are
the
most
caring
people
in
this
world.
They
always
think
about
the
well-being
of
people
in
their
care
and
they
often
forget
their
own
existence
and
needs.
Caregivers
role
is
significant,
giving
over
80
percent
of
the
care
when
needed,
yet
they
often
unrecognized,
unsupported
and
underappreciated.
A
A
While
we
recognize
caregivers
today
to
honor
them,
we
also
need
to
reflect
on
and
to
create
awareness
about
caregiver
burnout.
Their
work
includes
many
sleepless
nights,
financial
strain
and
countless
unpaid
hours.
Without
a
break,
we
must
always
find
ways
to
support
them
and
their
physical
and
mental
well-being.
If
you
are
a
caregiver
or
know
a
caregiver,
please
help
support
them
and
increase
awareness
of
family
and
friends.
Caregivers.
