Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
3rd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Besides,
the
warmth
I
felt
during
during
an
evening
of
celebration
of
a
language
with
which
I
grew
up,
I
came
to
realize
the
beauty
of
our
province,
that
has,
with
a
generosity
of
the
First
Peoples,
became
richer
in
languages
from
all
over
the
globe.
I
say
Richard
because
our
province
has
been
home
to
a
plethora
of
First
Nation
languages,
even
before
the
first
settler
set
foot
on
these
Shores,
and
it
was
heartening
to
see
one
such
language.
The
muskium
be
highlighted
at
the
premier
swearing
in
ceremony
last
week.
A
Language
is
a
breathing
living
organism,
Mr
speaker,
and
it
is
one
of
the
strongest
threads
that
weaves
through
its
cultures
and
evokes
in
us
a
sense
of
belonging,
a
sense
of
unity.
It
gives
us
more
than
just
the
sounds
of
its
letters
and
words.
It
gives
us
the
stories
of
its
people
and
sitting
at
the
prize
ceremony
and
the
swearing
in
last
week,
I
smiled
at
the
thought
of
the
beautiful
Mosaic
of
languages
we
have
living
in
our
province,
I
Rise,
to
acknowledge
this
Mosaic
Mr,
Speaker
and
I
hope.
