Member for richmond north center- thank you, mr speaker. British columbia has always had a special relationship with the ocean, and richmond has a deeply rich history when it comes to boating.

The fishing and boat building industry is what attracted many people to our shores and allow us to build a thriving economy and diverse community.

A

Today I would like to honor and recognize an organization that has done so much to preserve and honor that historical relationship since 1963 the richmond york club has been a place for all those who love to sail to cruise and to learn about boating, to enjoy fabulous events and, above all, to have fun for their nearly 60 years of operation.

A

They have given so many young people the opportunity to explore the joys of sailing and boating.

A

While the pandemic has been difficult on the club, they have continued to go above and beyond, to bring the community together and celebrate their passion for sailing.

A

I was so honored to take part in the annual sail pass ceremony, the first in-person event since the pandemic, where richmond dies could honor and celebrate our rich boating history.

A

I know there are many more incredible events on the horizon, but with the house. Please join me in congratulating the richmond york club on more than five decades of success. Thank you, mr speaker.
