Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
3rd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
victoria
beacon
hill.
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
I
too
am
so
thrilled
to
rise
today
to
use
my
two
minutes
to
celebrate
international
women's
day,
so
a
very
happy
international
women's
day
to
everyone
in
this
house
to
all
37
women
who
sit
in
this
legislature,
the
most
ever
to
our
incredible
clerk,
the
first
woman
to
hold
this
position
in
bc.
History.
A
Leaders
of
today
and
tomorrow
happy
international
women's
day,
mr
speaker,
I'm
so
proud
of
our
government's
fundamental
commitment
to
improving
the
lives
of
all
women
and
girls.
And
yes,
this
includes
trans
women
and
girls.
Today,
we're
holding
our
first
round
table
to
create
a
gender-based
violence
action
plan,
a
plan
grounded
in
community
and
centered
around
survivors
right
to
safety
and
equality,
and
this
spring
mr
speaker,
I'm
so
thrilled
to
say,
consultations
to
create
a
made
in
bc,
pay,
transparency,
legislation,
transparency
and
accountability
as
a
step
to
address
the
pay
gap
in
bc.
A
A
gap
that
is
not
just
about
gender
but
is
also
racialized,
is
bigger
for
indigenous
women
and
girls.
Those
living
with
disabilities
and
newcomers
will
connect
with
community
with
business
and
stakeholders,
build
work,
build
to
legislation
that
will
help
us
lead
the
way
not
just
catch
up.
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
I
can't
wait
happy
international
women's
day.
