The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
3rd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
Langley,
thank
you,
Mr,
Speaker
and
Langley
is
a
growing
and
Vibrant
Community
and
with
SkyTrain
coming
more
and
more
young
families
are
choosing
Langley
as
their
home.
I
see
it
every
day
when
I
go
down
to
the
park
with
my
daughter
and
my
young
son
and
wife,
the
number
of
young
families
that
are
moving
and
choosing
Langley
as
their
home.
Well,
we've
got
good
news
because
Child
Care
is
more
important
than
ever
for
families
in
Langley.
A
We
relief
is
coming
for
Working
Families
on
child
care
costs,
Mr
Speaker,
starting
December,
2nd
we're
cutting
Child
Care
fees
for
families
in
BC
by
as
much
as
550
dollars
a
month.
People
are
struggling
right
now.
We
know
that
costs
are
going
up,
I
see
it
in
my
own
life
when
I
go
to
the
grocery
store,
I
fill
up
the
tank.
A
This
cut
will
put
up
to
six
thousand
and
six
hundred
dollars
back
into
the
pockets
of
parents
and
Langley
who
have
kids
in
child
care
and,
as
the
father
of
two
kids
under
five
I
know
how
incredibly
important
Child
Care
is
and
what
a
significant
benefit
it
is
to
parents.
I
know
the
stress
of
not
having
it
of
trying
to
figure
out
who
goes
to
work
and
the
positive
impact
it
has
on
children
and
the
best
part
parents
don't
have
to
do
anything
to
apply
for
the
fee
reduction
Mr
Speaker.
A
A
This
Builds
on
the
work
we're
already
doing
in
Langley
on
Child
Care,
on
the
2.3
million
that
we've
invested
renoing
the
Douglas
rec
center
to
create
74
new
child
care
spaces,
along
with
the
recreation
center,
where
I
know,
folks
in
Langley,
and
parents
in
Langley
like
to
go
for
roaming
Rascals
that
will
build
74
new
spaces,
including
before
and
after
care,
to
help
working
parents,
so
they
can
get
to
the
job
site,
and
so
they
can
come
home
and
spend
time
with
their
families.
Mr
speaker.
Thank
you.
