A
Member
for
maple
ridge
mission
well,
thank
you
very
much.
Honorable
speaker,
I
rise
today
in
the
house
to
speak
about
the
resilience
of
bc's
arts
and
creative
industries.
Individuals,
non-profits
and
businesses
working
in
these
industries
have
been
particularly
hard
hit
by
the
pandemic
and
disproportionately
affected
by
restrictions
on
gatherings.
A
Our
government
responded
swiftly
with
over
40
million
dollars
in
covet,
supports
to
arts
and
the
creative
sector
and
amplified
bc
was
renewed
for
the
music
industry
and
funding
for
the
bc.
Domestic
motion
picture
industry
has
been
launched
and
every
step
of
the
way
we've
been
there
for
live
events
and
venues
and
they've
been
eligible
for
the
more
than
half
a
billion
dollars
in
business
supports.
A
Now.
The
government
has
made
these
investments
because
arts
and
culture
and
the
creative
industries
matter,
and
we
want
them
to
know
that
our
government
stands
with
them.
They
employ
tens
of
thousands
of
british
columbians.
They
contribute
in
a
powerful
way
to
the
economic
engine
of
british
columbia
and
as
covet
19
highlighted.
Arts,
music
and
film
are
critical
to
our
mental
health
and
our
ability
to
re
for
to
maintain
strong
communities.
