The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
3rd Session
42nd Parliament
A
A
Thanks
to
bc,
housing
and
the
city
of
campbell
river
quakson
place,
supportive
housing
opened
the
doors
last
year
and
welcomed
50
people
who
had
been
experiencing
homeless.
The
building
offers
around
the
clock,
on-site
support
for
residents
and
wraparound
services
like
life
skills,
training,
employment
assistance,
counseling,
physical
and
mental
health
resources,
as
well
as
addiction
to
recovery
services.
A
The
building
is
managed
by
the
vancouver
island
mental
health
society
who
work
collaboratively
with
the
community
health
services,
island,
health,
mental
health
and
substance
abuse
and
the
public
health
team
for
people
who
live
on
house.
It's
difficult
to
have
a
regular,
consistent
access
to
physical
and
mental
health
supports
these
residents
now
have
a
place,
a
place
that
every
day
an
ongoing
access
to
services
they
need,
which
is
instrumental.
Mr
speaker,
to
their
journey
for
wellness.
A
The
space
is
lovely.
It's
bright,
beautifully.
Appointed
rooms
include
several
designed
for
people
with
accessibility
issues.
Each
unit
has
a
kitchen,
but
there's
also
a
commercial
grade
kitchen,
where
hot
meals
are
prepared
and
served
twice
daily,
wonderful,
designed
communal
space,
where
residents
can
watch
tv
socialize
and
a
beautiful
outdoor
space
complete
with
an
indigenous
designed
healing
garden
and
vegetable
garden.
That,
mr
speaker,
the
tenants
take
very
very
seriously
for
residents.
Kwoksen
place
is
a
home,
a
place
where
they
can
have
privacy
live
safely
and
independently.
