Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
3rd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
Langley,
thank
you.
Mr
Speaker
November
is
apprenticeship
recognition
month
and
it
is
a
time
to
celebrate
this
province's
37
000
registered
apprentices
over
8
000,
including
over
8
000
participants
in
Industry
training,
Authority,
youth
programs.
There
has
never
been
a
better
time
to
get
an
apprenticeship
to
join
the
skilled
trades
than
right
now.
Mr
Speaker.
We
have
85
000
job
openings
happening
in
the
skilled
trades
over
the
next
nine
years
and
as
much
as
that
is
a
difficulty
for
employers.
It
is
a
world
of
opportunity
for
young
people.
A
We
are
going
to
need
18
and
a
half
thousand
people
in
The
Culinary
in
this
culinary
skill
trades
in
the
next
nine
years,
and
it
was
so
great
to
see
the
top
three
participants
where
all
women,
including
Danae
De,
Young,
a
Walnut
Grove
secondary
grad,
who
graduated
in
2020
from
a
youth
train,
And
Trades
program
and
who
now
works
at
Pier
seven.
So
there
is
so
much
opportunity
in
being
there.
The
other
night,
the
day
after
eight
Michelin
stars,
were
voted
to
Vancouver.
A
It
was
easy
to
see
where
the
next
Michelin
stars
are
going
to
come
from
Mr
Speaker.
So
you
know,
if
you
have
a
young
person
in
your
life,
this
is
the
time
to
encourage
them
into
apprenticeship.
Thank
you.
