The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
3rd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
study
white
rock-
thank
you,
mr
speaker.
Throughout
the
pandemic,
many
of
us
have
felt
the
increased
toll
on
our
mental
health,
some
due
to
the
isolation,
financial
impacts
and
loss
of
loved
ones.
Now,
more
than
ever,
we
understand
just
how
widespread
mental
health
challenges
are
and
how
they
can
affect
any
of
us.
The
stigma
around
mental
health,
however,
continues
to
be
a
barrier.
It's
time
we
break
down
that
barrier.
A
All
good
this
week
is
mental
health
week,
and
this
year's
theme
suggests
it's
an
opportunity
to
get
real
about
mental
health.
There
are
many
things
we
can
do
to
support
our
loved
ones,
and
it
starts
with
empathy
and
choosing
to
listen
without
judgment.
Just
a
simple
act
of
tuning
into
another
person's
feelings
and
trying
to
see
where
they're
coming
from
can
allow
the
other
person
to
feel
seen
and
be
heard
when
a
loved
one
is
facing
a
mental
health
challenge.
A
A
To
practice
empathy,
you
can
explore
the
many
resources
offered
by
the
canadian
mental
health
association
to
learn
more
or
take
the
time
to
reach
out
to
loved
ones
and
show
that
you
are
here
for
them.
We
can
all
be
champions
for
empathy
in
our
workplaces,
our
schools
and
our
communities,
and
a
good
piece
of
advice
is
before
you
weigh
in
tune
in.
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,.
