Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
3rd Session
42nd Parliament
A
Thank
you.
Mr
Speaker
in
August
I
had
the
opportunity
to
visit
Checkmate
one
of
the
many
award-winning
and
consecutive
hundred
point
in
this
case
wineries
in
the
Okanagan
Valley.
They
told
me
their
story
and
showed
me
in
their
Vineyard
how
their
investments
in
regenerative,
agriculture,
essentially
letting
things
grow
a
little
unruly
Under
The
Grapes
was
a
risk
they'd
taken
and
that
resulted
in
them
not
losing
nearly
as
much
product
in
the
heat
domes
of
2021.
A
people
in
their
businesses
across
BC
are
making
these
kinds
of
investments
in
environmental
and
human
capital.
They're
returning
Financial
rewards
we're
building
a
BC
economy
that
is
strong,
stable
and
sustainable.
These
past
couple
years,
we've
seen
evidence
that
a
commitment
to
investing
in
people
can
and
does
result
in
a
thriving
economy.
I'm
tired
of
the
stale,
narratives
tied
to
an
imaginary
trade-off
between
jobs
and
environment,
or
that
investing
in
the
wealthy
will
support
real
people.
Yesterday,
a
group
of
us
met
with
BC
road
builders.
A
A
But
the
passion
of
those
creative
minds
has
resulted
in
economic
energy,
coupled
with
environmental
hope
and
motivation
for
youth
building,
an
inspired
and
sustainable
economy
or
our
exciting
Mass
Timber
projects
or
the
seven
of
the
clean
tech
100
firms
that
are
based
out
of
BC
Econo
General
Fusion
ionmar,
carbon
engineering,
mindsets,
panties
Fenty.
This
is
building
a
clean
economy.
