A

sky.
Thank
you,
Mr
Speaker,
Mr
Speaker,
it's
human
nature
to
protect
the
things
you
love
Jay
McArthur
spent
40
years
as
a
volunteer,
protecting
Trails
parks
and
outdoor
recreation
areas
of
British
Columbia.
He
loved
the
outdoors
and
the
outdoor
life.
He
recognized
very
early.
The
preservation
needed
to
be
balanced
with
Public
Access
and
necessary
maintenance
of
trails
and
Parks
Jay
McArthur,
unfortunately
passed
away
in
October
of
2022
at
the
far
too
young
age
of
65..
A
As
the
summer
access
was
reestablished,
but
winter
access
remains
very
limited
and
I've
not
given
up
on
his
vision
of
ensuring
that
BC
parks
and
Whistler
block
home
adhere
to
the
commitments
of
the
master
development
agreement
that
commits
the
public.
The
the
the
commits
that
the
public
should
be
able
to
freely
and
safely
Transit
through
the
Whistler
black
home
ski
area
to
access
the
tens
of
thousands
of
Acres
of
Garibaldi
Park
Beyond.
A
As
a
founding
member
and
eventual
president
of
the
Southern
chill
Colton
Wilderness
Society
Jay
helped
establish
the
Southern
chilkoten
and
Big
Creek
Provincial
Park.
We
don't
all
participate
in
Back
Country
recreational
activities,
but
we
can
all
appreciate
and
applaud.
Jay
McArthur
for
his
dedication
to
preserve
and
protect
the
environment.
Working
with
Jay
was
always
a
pleasure.
Mr
Speaker
he
was
focused
collaborative,
respectful
and,
above
all
else,
incredibly
committed
to
Wild,
Spaces
and
public
access
to
the
back
country
and
I
know
he
will
be
greatly
missed.
