Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
4th Session
42nd Parliament
A
Member
for
father
Nicola,
thank
you.
Mr
Speaker
BC
is
crisis
in
mental
health
and
addictions,
and
we
need
to
be
talking
about
it
more.
That
is
why
my
colleague,
the
member
for
Surrey,
South
and
I,
will
be
hosting
Community
conversations
this
week
to
share
experiences
and
ideas
for
change
in
the
communities
of
Hope
and
Merit,
no
matter
where
you
live
in
BC
in
a
big
city
center
or
a
smaller,
more
rural
community.
It's
likely
that
you
or
someone
you
know
has
been
touched
by
this
issue.
A
Many
people
have
also
been
touched
by
the
great
work
of
our
local
social
service
agencies,
who
are
doing
the
best
they
can
to
keep
up
with
the
high
demand
for
help.
I
want
to
highlight
two
of
these
organizations
wanting
hope
and
one
in
Merit
the
whole
pan
area,
transition,
Society
or
hats,
provides
substance,
use
services
for
adults
and
youth,
as
well
as
other
Youth
and
Family
Services,
and
supports
for
those
looking
for
housing
through
a
trauma-informed
approach.
A
Their
vision
is,
and
I
quote,
work
towards
a
society
that
recognizes
the
value
and
potential
for
each
individual
recovery
is
possible
and
it's
my
sincere
hope
that
people
in
the
communities
of
Hope
and
Merit
will
stop
by
for
one
of
our
community
conversations
wherein
Hope
on
this
Friday
April
28th
at
6
30
and
in
Merit
on
Saturday,
at
1
30
in
the
afternoon
I'm.
Looking
forward
to
the
discussion
and
I
thank
my
colleague
for
joining
me,
because
these
are
conversations
that
need
to
happen
in
every
Community.
Thank
you.
