Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
4th Session
42nd Parliament
A
Thank
you,
the
celebration
at
the
beginning
of
the
new
year
in
the
Persian
calendar
with
commencement
of
spring
and
the
new
solar
year,
naurus
literally
means
new
day
it's
an
important
occasion
for
many
around
the
world
to
spend
time
reflecting
on
the
values
of
Peace,
Harmony
and
Reconciliation.
It
aligns
with
the
Spring
Equinox
signaling
the
return
of
sunshine
warmer
temperatures,
blooming
flowers,
birds
and
bees
for
those
of
us
in
the
northern
hemisphere.
A
Naurus
is
celebrated
by
many
in
my
riding
across
the
North
Shore
and
across
British
Columbia
for
over
30
years,
one
of
the
largest
celebrations
the
fire
Festival,
has
been
held
at
Ambleside
Park
in
west
Vancouver,
attracting
people
from
across
the
North
Shore
and
all
over
British
Columbia.
Now
ruse
is
also
a
turning
point
in
the
year
where
we
carry
the
best
of
the
past
year.
While
we
set
goals
for
a
better
New
Year
naurus
gives
Inspirations
of
love,
compassion,
peace
and
happiness,
while
prom
missing
a
new
chapter
of
Hope
for
prosperity
and
well-being.
A
Originally,
a
Persian
cultural
Feast
naurus
has
been
celebrated
for
Millennia
by
Iranians
of
all
ethnic
and
religious
groups.
The
celebration
of
nerus
has
now
spread
all
around
the
world
and
in
2010
naroo's
was
recognized
as
the
International
Day
by
the
United
Nations.
The
spirit
of
nerus
is
all-inclusive
and
singles
out
no
one,
and
we
need
it
today
more
than
ever.
So
let
us
renew
our
faith
and
care
for
one
another.
On
this
day,
may
this
nerus
and
many
neruses
to
come
lead
us
to
a
far
better
World
in
harmony,
peace
and
towards
the
light.
