A
We
are
all
very
passionate
about
raising
the
standards
of
living
in
our
community
through
the
creation
of
quality
jobs
and
we're
gathered
here
today
to
celebrate
a
valium,
valuable
member
of
our
manufacturing
cluster
who's.
Doing
just
that,
Jacob
home
industries
made
its
introduction
to
our
area.
Nearly
10
years
ago,
the
company
made
a
strong
commitment
to
Asheville
when
it
arrived,
and
it
has
grown
its
commitment
with
the
expansion
that
we're
talking
about
today.
As
a
leader
in
nonwoven
materials,
jacob
home
offers
high
quality
products
for
the
personal
care,
home,
homecare
hygiene
and
industrial
markets.
A
Currently
they
employ
82
of
our
neighbors,
and
in
October
they
announced
that
they're
going
to
increase
the
number
of
jobs
by
66
I'd
like
to
offer
the
community's
thanks
to
to
all
the
local
leadership
and
the
employees
of
Jacob
home
who
are
with
us
this
morning.
You
make
up
an
outstanding
strong
team
in
your
talent,
and
your
diligence
are
the
reasons
we're
here
to
celebrate
today
as.
B
A
member
of
the
Buncombe
County
Commission
I,
take
great
pride
and
seeing
a
project
like
this
expansion
come
to
fruition.
When
I
was
elected,
I
made
a
vow
to
support
manufacturers
throughout
our
county
and
I'm
thrilled
to
be
involved
in
the
groundbreaking
this
morning,
as
a
contributor
to
our
own
manufacturing
community
for
over
20
years,
I
have
a
deep
appreciation
for
the
work
of
Jacob
home
industries
in
Buncombe
County
and
knows
the
commitment
it
takes
to
execute
a
project
of
this
scope.
B
B
Companies
only
invest
in
communities
at
this
level,
with
the
greatest
of
confidence
that
local
workforce
and
community
partnerships
will
perform
beyond
expectation.
It
is
not
often
you
find
a
company
in
your
community
that
has
been
in
operation
for
over
200
years
globally.
That's
that's
quite
impressive!
In
itself,
we
are
so
pleased
with
the
vision
and
commitment
of
Steve
Landon,
along
with
his
local
team,
to
increase
our
buncombe
county
facility.
B
On
behalf
of
the
buncombe
county
board
of
commissioners
and
the
people
of
buncombe
county,
I
am
here
to
offer
our
gratitude
for
your
confidence
and
your
leadership
and
our
manufacturing
economy.
I
am
also
here
to
pledge
the
continued
support
of
buncombe
county
leadership
to
you.
We
are
committed
to
the
success
of
your
people
in
the
Jacob
home
industry
here
at
home
in
Buncombe
County
for
the
next
generation.
Well,.
C
North
Carolina
has
a
great
heritage
and
a
history
of
manufacturing.
We
started
certainly
with
the
furniture
industry
and
with
texels,
but
let's
just
stop
for
a
minute
and
just
think
about
what
we
manufacture
today
in
North
Carolina.
In
fact,
a
lot
of
it
manufactured
in
the
Western
North
Carolina
area.
We
manufacture
industrial
wind
turbines,
we
manufacture
laptops,
we
manufacture,
LED
lights,
we
manufacture
auto
parts,
we
manufacturer
trucks,
we
manufacture
solar
equipment,
we
manufacture
heavy
machinery,
paper
products
and
even
beer
and.
D
C
We
have
a
state-of-the-art
plant,
that's
been
going
for
several
years
and
we're
going
to
expand
it
right
here
in
candler
to
make
nonwoven
materials
for
the
world
more
than
430,000
North
Carolina
citizens
work
in
manufacturing.
It
is
still
the
largest
sector
of
our
economy
overall
and
we're
excited
that
number
is
growing
today:
66,
more
manufacturing
jobs
in
North,
Carolina
and
45
million
dollars
in
investment
and
the
great
thing
about
these
jobs
today
is
they
add
to
the
82
jobs
that
are
already
here:
sustainable
21st
century
jobs
with
great
pay
and
benefits.
C
C
A
B
Tech
has
already
been
cited
as
a
great
example
of
a
partner
that
makes
good
things
happen
right
here
in
Buncombe
County,
our
community
college
system
in
North
Carolina
is
second
to
none
and
the
57
other
campuses
partner
with
a
BTech
and
make
good
things
happen
for
employers.
Clearly,
people
are
our
greatest
asset
in
North
Carolina.
We
have
self-starters
here
hard
workers
here,
Jeff
I
know
you've
already
found
that
they
work
in
factories,
facilities
and
front
office's.
C
So
with
that
manufacturing
heritage
that
we
have
to
history
here,
it's
also
our
future
and
we're
very
excited
that
today
we're
going
to
expand
that
future
by
this
great
groundbreaking
right
here.
So
if
I
could
I'd
like
to
present
jeff
sellers
with
a
plate
on
behalf
of
governor
McCrory
and
the
state
of
North,
Carolina
Jeff
is
the
vice
president
of
operations
and
supply
chain.
D
So
good
morning,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
I'm
Jeff
sellers
I'm,
the
vice
president
of
operations
and
supply
chain
here,
Jacob
home,
on
it's
great
to
be
standing
in
front
of
you
today
and
to
announce
the
formal
kickoff
of
our
new
project
and
as
a
manufacturing,
professional
I
got
to
tell
you
this.
It's
a
great
feeling
to
being
a
business.
It's
in
full,
grown,
cold
loan
growth
mode,
I've
been
doing
manufacturing
now
for
about
25
years,
and
it's
always
been
about
cost
reductions
and
reductions
in
force.
D
And
how
do
we
take
monday
out
of
the
operation
but
to
be
involved
with
something
like?
This
is
certainly
something
special
on
the
fact
that
our
owner,
mr.
paul
Mickelson,
has
chosen
to
invest
in
this
operation
is
testament
to
our
workforce,
buncombe
county
in
the
state
of
North
Carolina
and
the
vibrant
industry
in
which
we
participate
so
we're
in
a
great
situation.
D
Now
I've
been
with
Jacob
home
for
a
full
seven
months,
Starlin
April
first,
my
wife
would
tell
you
that
was
an
appropriate
date
for
me
to
start
it's
a
long
discussion
on,
but
within
this
period
of
time,
I've
been
working
on
the
line.
6
project
we
have
another
big
capital.
Investment
is
going
on
as
we
speak
right
now,
so
we
won't
be
doing
a
plant
tour
today,
but
trust
me
there's
a
lot
of
good
stuff
behind
those
walls
that
will
show
you
down.
D
The
road
I've
moved
my
family
up
from
Mississippi
I've,
been
learning
a
new
industry
working
with
my
organization.
So
it's
been
a
pretty
stressful
time
for
myself,
my
family
and
my
organization,
but
as
we
go
through
this,
we're
all
are
extremely
excited
than
we
know
that
the
work
that
we're
doing
here
is
important.
D
You
know
we're
bringing
66
new
jobs
into
town,
it's
going
to
be
something
that
will
increase
the
long-term
viability
of
our
current
employees
and
additional
opportunities,
and
we're
going
to
be
able
to
keep
this
operation
in
Buncombe
County
for
the
foreseeable
future.
So
we're
extremely
excited
about
that.
I
want.
E
To
highlight
this
expansion
is
giving
us
all
opportunities
to
grow.
What
I
mean
by
grow
I
mean
from
a
business
point
of
view.
We
can
leverage
our
our
structure,
our
successful
footprinting
in
place
in
nashville
today
and
we
can
grow
out,
grow
our
numbers
and
that's
all
about
justifying
further
investments
and
further
growth,
66
new
jobs
and
for
the
existing
stock
opportunities
for
promotions
and
bigger
jobs,
because,
as
you
grow,
bigger
opportunities
open
for
everyone,
so
I
think
Jeff
is
I,
know
Jeff
for
many
years
at
avery.
E
E
I
think
I
want
to
recognize
that
also
like
to
thank
our
partners,
elected
officials,
because
you
do
play
a
very
important
part
you're
going
to
play
a
continued
for
us,
because
this
is
not
the
end
of
the
line
for
us
and
in
terms
of
the
hiring
of
the
people,
the
training
of
the
people.
I
know
their
representative
Sierra
will
be
active
part
of
that.
