From YouTube: Buncombe News Update - Let's Move Buncombe
Description
Take a look at the kick-off event for the new "Let's Move Buncombe!" movement held at Emma Elementary school.
A
I'm
here
with
my
colleagues,
women
elected
officials
throughout
Buncombe
County,
and
we
are
so
excited
to
be
here-
to
launch.
Let's
move
buncombe,
it's
a
great
day.
We
appreciate
you
being
here.
This
really
tells
us
how
much
you
are
into
this
program
and
how
much
you
support
the
youth
and
the
families
and
the
children
here
in
Buncombe
County.
Thank
you
so
much
for
being
here
see.
It
is
an
exciting
day
for
the
next
few
minutes.
B
We're
going
to
highlight
solutions,
solutions
to
childhood
obesity
and
we'll
visit
them
and
we're
going
to
educate
ourselves
as
well
as
put
a
spotlight
on
things
that
are
working.
We
all
know
how
bad
the
problem
is,
and
you're
not
going
to
hear
about
a
lot
about
that
today,
you're
going
to
hear
about
a
solution
and
you're
going
to
see
a
solution,
so
I
really
think
all
these
wonderful
women
and
colleagues
for
coming
out
and
given
part
of
their
very
busy
days,
not
just
today,
but
going
forward
and
and
very
inspired
about
it.
B
C
Them
hey
as
Holly
mention.
Let's
move
highlight
several
areas
that
are
important
in
our
life:
lifestyle
for
children
to
help
with
obesity
and
the
parents.
We
picked
Emma
to
kick
off
this
movement
because
this
garden
is
unique.
It
is
unique
because,
because
it
is
shared
project
with
the
community
and
the
school,
this
garden
produces
healthy,
affordable
foods
for
members
of
the
community
and
is
also
a
place
that
students
learn
about
gardening
and
producing
healthy
foods.
B
Unless
move
buncombe
is
modeled
after
first
lady
Michelle
Obama's
national
initiative,
let's
move
who
which
will
be
promoting
healthier
foods
in
schools
and
parents,
making
better
choices
for
their
kids
and
promoting
physical
activity
with
kids
as
well
as
affordable
foods
throughout
our
community.
So
that's
kind
of
our
inspiration
for
let's
move
buncombe
so
definitely
stay
tuned
because
we're
going
to
be
traveling
all
around
the
community
and
and
showcasing
other
great
solutions
and
great
projects
that
are
happening
too.
To
make
out
help
our
kids
become
more
healthy
citizens.
D
Me
I'm,
a
Susan
Fisher
I
represent
district
114
portion
of
buncombe
county
in
the
North
Carolina
House
and
I'm.
Here
today,
at
Emma
Resource
Center.
To
celebrate
the
really
the
ongoing
work
of
some
little
little
size
gardeners
I
met,
one
whose
name
was
Mackenzie
and
I
asked
her
if
she
knew
MacGregor
as
in
mr.
McGregor's
garden,
and
she
was
familiar
with
that
farmer.
D
But
they
were
like
the
little
farmers
here
and
it's
all
about
getting
buncombe
moving,
and
it
was
a
pleasure
to
be
joined
by
other
women
leaders
in
the
area
to
kick
off
a
program
that
will
emphasize
locally
grown
foods
and
the
idea
that
this
kind
of
thinking
about
eating
locally
grown
and
eating
foods
right
from
the
garden
starts
at
a
very
early
age
and
Emma.
Resource.
Center
is
a
great
partner
in
all
of
that.
D
We
got
a
first
look
at
the
hot
off
the
presses
local
food
guide
for
kids
that
is
published
by
the
Appalachian
sustainable
agriculture
project,
and
these
folks
are
here
today
and
they
do
really
good
work.
In
fact,
they
got
an
A
in
the
newspaper
today
for
increasing
their
sales
of
locally
grown
food.
To
the
schools
in
North
Carolina
by
about
a
hundred
thousand
dollars
this
year,
so
we're
looking
forward
to
even
more
great
things
in
the
area
of
locally
grown.
The
good
news.
B
Is
that
in
our
community
we
have
so
many
things
that
are
going
right,
so
we
need
to
highlight
those
and
promote,
and
you
do
more
of
those
and
so
women
elected
officials
throughout
Buncombe
County
are
going
to
be
participating
in
this
for
the
next
few
months
to
kind
of
showcase
solutions
to
the
problem,
and
it's
an
exciting
day.
We've
had
a
great
time
out
in
here
in
Emma
with
the
kids
and
we're
we
are
kicked
off.
