A
way
of
helping
people
stay
at
home
stay
independent,
maintain
good
health
through
as
we
get
older,
they
can
come
here
and
have
a
meal
that
meets
one-third
of
the
recommended
daily
allowance
for
older
adults,
which
is
important.
We
have
exercise
programs
and
we
know
from
studies
that
it
doesn't
matter
if
you're
70
to
85
or
89.
If
you
exercise
moderately
two
hours
a
week,
approximately
you
can
delay
a
disability
by
as
much
as
10
years
and
that's
been
proven.
So
we
have
regular
exercise
at
our
locations
through
a
collaboration
with
the
YWCA
and
volunteers.
B
C
Of
the
problems,
as
you
age
is
you
you
quit
moving,
and
so
with
the
exercise
program
that
they
have
here,
it
keeps
everybody
it
keeps
a
moving,
also
keeps
them
thinking
about
the
fact
that
they
need
to
move
and
I.
Think
that
Nancy
are.
Our
instructor
is
really
good
and
really
contentious
about
making
sure
that
she
reaches
all
areas
of
body
that
need
it.
She's
very
encouraging
and
I
think
she
does
an
excellent
job
they
come
here.
They
get.
B
A
Of
the
things
that
we
know
is
very
important
is
that
seniors
not
only
get
good
food
but
they're
able
to
socialize
and
they're
able
to
have
recreational
activities
too.
It's
all
part
of
our
core
services
to
our
our
citizens
here
in
Buncombe
County,
and
it's
something
that's
part
of
our
sustainability
plan
for
Buncombe
County
citizens.
A
D
I
had
a
fall
last
year
and
my
ability
to
get
around
and
interact
with
others
was
severely
limited.
I
was
had
to
have
some
physical
therapy
and
so
a
way
for
me
to
get
interaction
with
others
and
have
fun
playing
bingo
and
get
a
decent
meal.
You
know
for
affordable
price.
It
was
just
very
important
and
gave
me
something
to
look
forward
to
every
week
and
I
invite
my
neighbors.
Sometimes
we
come
together
and
we
enjoy.
You
know
talking
to
others.
Seeing
our
friends
and
just
I
would
really
hate
to
see
it
not
be
here.
D
B
B
Is
it
doesn't
matter
if
you
low-income
middle,
come
middle
income
or
higher
income
when
you
live
alone,
you're
new,
at
nutritional
risk
from
malnutrition,
because
when
people
live
alone
they
tend
to
just
snack,
eat,
sweets,
drink
coffee
or
tea
and
leave
it
at
that,
and
studies
have
also
shown
that
people
living
alone,
regardless
of
income,
do
not
eat
as
well
and
they've
shown
that
when
people
come
to
programs
like
senior
dining
and
wellness
there,
they
get
a
good
meal
and
the
risk
of
malnutrition.
Isn't.
This
is
mitigated
you.
B
E
D
Really
not
all
about
the
food,
it's
about
the
community
and
the
companionship,
the
fellowship-
and
you
know
just
just
getting
out
of
the
sunshine
and
the
lake
here
we
get
to
see
the
lake
and
sometimes,
if
you
feel
up
to
it,
you
can
walk
around
before
after
the
meal
and
get
a
little
exercise.
It's
just
a
wonderful.
What
a
wonderful
thing
that's
offered
to
us!
It's.
B
Very
cost-effective,
together
all
of
the
programming
and
the
meals
that
we
offer
here
are
at
any
of
the
five
locations
cost
the
council
on
aging
around
eight
hundred
and
forty
some
dollars
per
individual
for
a
year,
and
that
is
a
nutritious
meal.
Five
days
a
week,
that's
an
exercise
class
two
days
a
week
at
most
locations:
that's
educational
programming,
health
programming,
blood
pressure,
screenings,
all
kinds
of
recreational
opportunities
and
and
the
socialization
I.
B
Think
if
you
have
a
family
member
who's
elderly,
you
cannot
put
any
kind
of
monetary
value
on
the
opportunity
for
them
to
get
out
and
see.
People,
senior,
dining
and
wellness
lights
serve
a
number
of
educational
goals.
Along
with
we
had
project
Emma,
which
is
eat
better,
move
more
aged
well
and
that
we
teach
people
healthy
cooking.
We
have
the
exercise,
we
do
educational
program,
help
and
wellness
and
bring
people
in
for
screenings.
All
of
that
helps
people
take
what
they
learn
here
and
take
home
with
them.
B
We
we
participate
in
the
senior
Farmers
Market
nutrition
program,
North
Carolina.
We
just
started
participating
a
couple
of
years
ago
for
the
first
time
here
in
Buncombe,
County
and
people
get
vouchers.
They
can
use
if
they're
a
dining
side
participant
and
go
to
local
markets
and
get
fresh
food
and
we
bring
chefs
in
and
they
teach
them
how
to
how
to
cook
those
fresh
fruits
and
cook
for
one
person.
So
it's
it's
really
kind
of
a
a
subtle
thing:
folks,
Minh
for
communities
and
they'll,
educate
them
about
social
services
or
other
programs.
B
E
This.
This
program
just
means
so
much
to
someone
like
me,
because
I
was
healing
I
just
moved
into
this
apartment,
complex
and
met
some
wonderful
people
and
I
did
I
did
healing
this
is
very
healing
and
I
would
I
just
mean
so
much
to
me
just
to
be
able
to
get
out
and
come
and
fellowship
with
others
and
its
really
it's
a
blessing
for
people
like
me,
and
other
people
that
are
disabled,
like
I
am,
and
it's
I'd
hate
to
see
it.
Stop.
I
really
would.
B
Want
to
make
sure
that
everyone
knows
how
important
the
support
welcome,
County
government
and
the
commissioners
for
Vulcan
County
are
to
this
program
and
in
Buncombe
County
older
adult
services
are
supported
by
what
are
called
aging
supplement
dollars,
which
are
an
addition
to
federal
and
state
dollars
that
were
created
under
the
older
Americans
Act
to
provide
services
without
the
support
of
Oakland
County
and
through
the
commissioners.
We
would
have
to
close
this
site
this
year
at
least
two
days
a
month
in
our
most
recent
program
year.
That
ends
this
June.
B
We
will
observed
over
26,000
meals
around
the
county.
Without
additional
support,
we
would
had
closed
the
site
and
other
sites
at
least
two
days
a
month.
We
only
had
enough
money
to
do
20,000
minutes
of
the
year,
so
it's
been
really
really
important
to
have
that,
after
that,
additional
support
from
them,
and
it's
not
just
the
meals
they
support.
They
see
to
it
that
you
know
their
support
for
in
homemade
services
for
adult
day
services
for
Mountain
ability
that
gets
people
to
where
they
need
to
go,
and
it's
just
mental
I
know.
