Good
evening
to
our
audience,
who
are
here
with
us
today
and
also
those
on
the
live
stream,
welcome
to
the
2023
Byram
Hills
High
School
commencement,
it's
an
occasion
that
has
been
13
years
in
the
making
And
We
Gather
here
to
celebrate
the
graduation
of
these
157
extraordinary
students
before
we
dive
into
the
main
event.
Let's
address
some
important
matters,
that'll
improve
the
experience
for
you
this
tonight
for
your
bathroom
needs.
E
You
can
choose
between
The
Rustic
charm,
of
our
concession
stand
over
at
the
far
end
of
the
field,
or
you
can
choose
to
use
the
locker
rooms
or
the
upper
gym
facilities
for
those
who
might
need
a
little
bit
of
TLC
medically
or
some
hydration.
We
have
a
convenient
setup
over
there
by
that
tent
and
we
can
assist
you
as
you
need.
So
thank
you
to
everyone
who
has
sent
Positive
Vibes
to
deliver
the
weather
that
we
need
for
this
event.
E
E
E
13
years
of
curiosity,
learning
and
the
growth
of
knowledge
have
brought
them
to
the
point
where
they
are
now
ready
to
engage
the
world
on
their
own
terms.
In
just
a
few
moments,
these
graduates
will
join
the
prestigious
ranks
of
the
54
classes
that
came
before
them
becoming
proud
alumni
of
Byram
Hills
High
School.
It's
a
ceremony
brimming
with
emotions,
but
the
one
that
always
fills
my
heart.
The
most
is
Hope.
Every
graduation
reminds
us
that
each
of
them
are
about
to
head
out
into
the
world
with
Limitless
potential,
endless
possibilities
and
nothing
but
enthusiasm.
E
We
have
the
incredible
privilege
of
being
here
to
witness
this
momentous
Milestone
and
there
aren't
many
in
life
that
are
as
significant
as
this
now.
Let's
take
a
moment
to
appreciate
the
army
of
family
that
surrounds
all
of
our
graduates
here
this
evening,
you've
been
their
support
system,
their
cheerleaders,
their
reality
Checkers
throughout
the
years
so
graduates.
Please
stand.
E
For
the
grandparents
who
are
here,
we
know
that
you
could
not
be
more
proud
of
these
graduates.
Thank
you
for
always
seeing
the
best
in
them
offering
advice
and
guidance,
imparting
your
wisdom,
passing
on
your
family
traditions
and
for
loving
them
unconditionally
to
the
siblings
out
there.
Thank
you
for
standing
side
by
side
with
them
through
thick
or
thin.
You
have
helped
them
to
learn
about
perspectives,
competition
and
teamwork.
E
You
have
shared
experiences
that
nobody
else
could
ever
understand
and
your
bonds
can
never
be
broken.
Thank
you
for
always
having
their
backs
to
the
aunts
and
uncles
out
there.
Our
graduates
will
always
appreciate
your
great
Stories,
the
visits
with
you
on
holidays,
the
belly,
laughs,
your
advice
and
knowing
that
you
appreciate
them
for
who
they
are
and
to
all
the
parents.
We
know
that
for
every
waking
minute
of
the
last
17
or
18
years,
your
world
has
been
focused
on
making
sure
our
graduates
had
everything
they
needed
to
succeed.
E
We
know
that
every
birthday
and
Milestone
brought
more
complicated
issues
to
deal
with
and
all
of
their
Shenanigans
meltdowns
bad
haircuts
and
questionable
fashion
choices
has
worn
on
you
in
ways
that
our
graduates
just
can't
imagine
through
it
all
your
love
has
given
them
the
ability
to
spread
their
wings
and
fly.
This
event
is
as
much
of
a
celebration
of
your
love
and
support
for
them
as
it
is
about
them
receiving
their
diplomas.
So
thank
you.
E
Graduation
is
not
just
a
celebration.
It's
also
a
time
for
us
to
reflect
on
the
mission
of
our
district
and
the
responsibilities
that
it
brings
in
an
environment
of
mutual
respect.
The
Byram
Hills
School
District
and
its
Community
will
provide
students
with
the
means,
the
knowledge
and
the
opportunity
to
excel
in
order
to
become
productive
and
responsible
citizens
and
leaders
of
the
21st
Century
Tonight
We
Gather
on
this
field,
with
157,
productive
and
responsible
citizens
and
leaders
who
are
ready
to
take
that
next
step
towards
reaching
their
true
potential.
E
And
there
are
so
many
incredible
faculty
staff
building,
District
administrators
who
have
played
a
role
in
supporting
our
graduates
along
the
way,
as
well
as
our
fantastic
Board
of
Education
and
I,
want
to
express
my
sincere
gratitude
for
all
they
have
done
to
make
this
possible
for
our
graduates
to
be
here
this
evening.
Please
join
me
in
giving
them
a
round
of
applause
for
their
unwavering
dedication
to
our
District's
mission.
E
E
I
also
did
want
to
thank
very
quickly
our
PTSA
and
our
bhef
for
all
that
they
have
done
to
support
our
seniors
through
their
years
in
the
district
and
they've
sprinkled
some
extra
magic
here
today.
So
you
can
pick
up
their
signs
that
they
have
senior
signs
that
were
there
coming
down
trip.
Lane
they'll
be
over
here
at
the
upper
gym
entrance
for
you
to
take
when
you
leave
and
then
I
also
wanted
you
to
invite
you
to
the
PTSA
step
and
repeat
so
once
again.
F
G
F
F
F
After
hours
of
painting
I
looked
on
my
paper
to
find
nothing
that
even
remotely
resembled
an
apple.
It
was
just
a
mere
collection
of
messy
scribbled
lines.
However,
when
I
looked
at
my
painting
from
across
the
room,
I
was
stunned
to
see
a
beautifully
rendered
painting
of
a
ripe
Apple,
its
sharp
colors,
woven
together
with
quiet,
speckled,
brush
Strokes.
It
was
only
after
taking
a
step
back
that
I
was
able
to
see
how
the
painting
came
together
to
create
the
Apple
that
laid
before
me.
F
F
We
shall
enter
the
next
chapter
of
our
lives
with
Incredible
memories,
knowing
that
we
each
left
a
unique
Arc
behind
not
just
on
our
class
but
also
on
our
school
and
whole
community.
I.
Remember
that,
while
celebrating
on
the
bus
after
winning
the
Tennessee
Championship
my
junior
year
coach,
rockinelli
famously
remarked
with
conviction
that
we'd
be
back
fast
forward.
One
year
later
to
us
sitting
on
the
bus
again
biting
into
our
gold
medals.
F
Coach
rockinelli
proceeded
to
say,
I
told
you
so
so
people
often
ask
me
why
I
think
the
tennis
team
was
able
to
become
so
successful
and
to
me
the
answer
is
very
simple:
typically,
tennis
is
an
individual
sport
where
players
only
care
about
their
own
matches
and
results,
but
at
our
school
tennis
is
a
team
sport.
More
than
anything
else,
as
the
captain
and
first
singles
player
on
the
team,
I
lost
my
match
in
the
state
finals,
but
the
second
I
stepped
off
the
court.
F
My
point
in
sharing
this
anecdote
is
that,
even
though
each
player
contributed
to
the
win
in
her
own
way
serving
as
an
independent
breaststroke,
when
you
take
a
step
back,
it
becomes
clear
that
the
reason
why
we
won
was
not
due
to
any
one
particular
person.
Rather,
it
was
the
collection
of
brush
Strokes
that
came
together
to
form
the
final
painting,
our
glorious
supportive
team.
F
So,
yes,
it's
important
to
take
a
step
back
and
see
where
we
fit
in
within
a
larger
context
and
group,
but
I
want
to
remind
everyone
of
one
really
important
thing,
and
that
is
to
never
forget
your
individual
importance
and
significance.
Never
forget
that
you
have
a
voice
and
never
forget
their
voice
is
meant
to
be
heard.
That's
quite
the
literal
example
of
a
voice
being
heard.
I
want
to
take
everyone
back
to
sixth
grade
when
I
single-handedly
ruined
the
course's
rendition
of
hot
cup
of
Coco
I
was
certain.
F
I
was
perfectly
harmonizing
with
the
rest
of
the
choir
during
class.
That
was
until
Mrs
Smith
actually
pulled
me
aside
and
expressed
a
genuine
concern
for
my
vocal
cords
and
even
urged
me
to
see
a
doctor.
She
was
so
worried
about
my
inability
to
match
pitch
my
my
voice
stood
out
in
way
too
much
amongst
the
crowd
in
a
very
bad
way.
So
I
eventually
learned
how
to
harmonize,
but
more
importantly,
I
learned
that
each
person
and
each
individual
brushstroke
has
the
power
to
make
their
own
Mark
For,
Better
or
For
Worse.
F
So
to
all
my
classmates,
who
are
ready
to
become
brushstrokes
on
infinitely
larger
canvases
I,
encourage
you
all
to
take
a
step
back,
I
hope,
you'll,
remember
the
big
picture,
while
never
forgetting
your
place
and
importance
in
the
world,
and
if
life
ever
only
seems
like
a
mere
collection
of
messy
scribbled
lines,
maybe
all
it
will
take
is
a
shift
in
perspective
to
see
a
beautiful
Apple,
woven
together
with
quiet,
speckled
brush
Strokes.
Thank
you.
E
H
H
Wow
we're
in
person
it's
not
raining,
and
the
air
quality
is
good.
Who
would
have
thought
given
the
last
two
and
a
half
years
when
first
tasked
with
writing
this
speech
three
weeks
ago,
I
vowed
to
change
my
procrastination
habits
and
start
earlier.
However,
I
found
myself
in
the
same
situation
as
always
and
well
1am
this
morning.
H
H
To
the
last
day
of
classes,
where
we
were
unsuccessful
with
that
slip
and
slide
here,
we
are
now
as
I
reflect
on
the
year.
I.
Think
back
to
the
many
struggles
last
July
I
returned
home
to
find
my
house
flooded
and
the
artifacts
of
my
upbringing
destroyed,
leprechaun
Catcher
from
kindergarten
sponge
babies
from
seventh
grade
and
every
single
piece
of
paper
ever
distributed
by
a
teacher
destroyed
that
is
until
Virtual
School
in
this
fall.
H
Some
of
us
face
rejections
and
deferrals
from
gym
schools
how
we
juggled
the
load
of
schoolwork
the
struggle
with
uncertainty
continued
throughout
the
year.
Where
would
we
end
up
for
college?
What
would
our
lives
look
like
next
year
and
some
less
pressing
issues?
When
would
we
finally
get
a
snow
day?
H
I've
won
awards
built
strong
relationships
with
friends
and
teachers
and
have
the
honor
of
giving
this
speech,
and
you
all
my
peers,
produce
several
amazing,
please
dominated
in
sports
and
accepted
to
top
colleges.
I
saw
these
struggles
and
successes
intertwined
and
I
wondered
how
it
was
we
got
here
today.
H
To
the
encouragement
we've
received
from
teachers,
administrators
and
support
staff,
since
then,
our
success
is
also
a
product
of
our
support
outside
the
classroom.
Thank
you
to
each
parent,
sibling,
teacher
or
friend,
family
member
and
Coach,
who
has
been
instrumental
in
this
journey.
But
it
also
goes
beyond
that.
Perhaps
I've
leaned
into
this
reflection
advice
a
bit
too
much
but
I
believe
that
getting
where
we
are
today
predates
even
our
Byram
days.
It
goes
to
our
multi-generational
roots.
H
My
grandma
imagined
her
future
family
and
all
the
food
she
would
spoil
them
with
which
she
eventually
made
a
reality
and
something
my
family
can
definitely
attest
to
dreams
of
a
life
outside
the
camp
were
what
got
them
through.
After
Liberation,
my
grandparents
moved
to
the
U.S
with
little
to
restart
life.
H
In
my
grandma's
words,
the
Germans
took
everything
from
them,
their
family,
their
relatives
and
their
belongings,
but
the
one
thing
that
they
could
not
take
away
was
the
upbringing
her
parents
gave
her
her
Kinder
stupid
and
when
raising
their
children,
she
passed.
These
values
on
education
was
near
the
most
important
thing,
as
it
was
my
grandparents
own
Early
Education,
that
enabled
them
to
run
successful
businesses
and
fulfill
their
dreams
of
providing
the
best
opportunities
and
happiness
for
their
family.
H
What
is
instilled
up
here
is
what
allows
us
to
succeed
passed
down
through
my
parents
are
the
values
of
Education
the
will
to
persist
and
the
pursuit
of
happiness,
and
though
this
set
of
values
may
differ
among
us.
It's
this
compass
that
has
guided
us
to
overcome
obstacles
and
achieve
the
successes
that
have
filled
our
time
at
Byram
Hills,
while
future
things
in
life
may
not
be
as
simple
as
navigating
the
hallways
converted
to
covid
one
ways:
okay,
maybe
it
wasn't
that
simple!
H
Thank
you
to
all
the
teachers,
administrators
and
friends
who
have
nurtured
me
throughout
my
time
here
my
extended
family
for
their
continuous
support,
my
parents
for
their
vote
of
confidence
and
for
providing
me
with
countless
opportunities,
my
sister
for
always
being
my
cheerleader,
my
brother
for
always
making
time.
For
me,
the
four
of
you
are
the
reason
for
my
hard
work,
determination
and
continued
success
and
I
love.
You
more
I
think
I
finally
figured
out
what
the
23
at
the
end
of
our
usernames
meant.
Congratulations
to
the
class
of
2023.
I
A
A
K
It's
safe
to
say
that
us
seniors
have
had
a
very
unique
High
School
experience
to
begin
the
pandemic
sentence
into
lockdown
during
March
of
her
freshman
year.
In
the
start
of
our
high
school
Journey,
leading
to
a
hybrid
learning
environment,
our
sophomore
year
masks
could
be
seen
on
every
member
of
the
community
for
more
than
half
of
our
junior
year
and
finally,
we
were
able
to
celebrate
a
completely
normal
senior
year,
though
all
these
through
all
these
bumps
in
the
road.
K
Every
student
shares
a
calm
experience
hurrying
to
make
it
to
class
before
the
A-10
Bell,
and
in
doing
so
this
year
running
from
the
far
student
a
lot
many
of
us
students
were
continuously
drawn
to
adult
empty
space
above
the
entrance
to
Bobcat
Hall,
which
we
enter
through
almost
every
day.
We
knew
we
needed
to
add
something
welcoming
to
be
a
reminder
for
a
positive
day
ahead.
G
With
that,
the
class
of
2023
is
pleased
to
announce
that
we
will
be
gifting
a
sign
above
the
above
cat
Hall
entrance
that
Wiki
reads:
Welcome
To,
The
Hills
to
remind
all
our
students
that
no
matter
what
happened
at
home
that
morning,
or
whatever
stress
they
may
have
for
the
day
ahead,
the
building
is
always
a
safe
and
welcoming
environment.
We
hope
that
this
will
brighten
all
mood
to
be
in
constant
memory
of
the
class
of
2023..
Once
again,
thank
you
for
joining
us
today
in
honoring,
this
year's
graduating
class.
C
E
E
E
But
maybe
it's
because
I
grew
up
watching
movies
like
Terminator
The,
Matrix,
War,
Games,
2001,
Space
Odyssey,
but
I
have
a
very
healthy
skepticism
when
it
comes
to
the
role
of
artificial
intelligence
and
its
potential
implications
for
our
Human
Experience.
So
even
the
adorable
Wally
couldn't
change
my
perspectives
on
the
dangers
that
come
with,
enabling
machines
to
co-opt
The
Human
Experience.
E
Vast
knowledge
and
impress
impressive,
computational
abilities.
It
cannot
fully
understand
the
depth
of
our
emotions.
Yet
Mr
August
tells
me
that
it
will
one
day,
though
so
the
nuances
of
our
experiences
or
the
relationships
that
Define
Our
Lives
cannot
be
put
into
any
sort
of
program
to
be
understood.
E
It
cannot
comprehend
the
rawness
of
our
human
connections
or
capture
the
true
essence
of
our
shared
Humanity.
It
can
never
take
away
the
things
in
your
heart,
which
you
know
are
true,
and
it
is
only
by
allowing
yourself
to
be
open
to
the
full
spectrum
of
emotions
that
come
your
way
that
you
can
truly
be
human.
L
L
L
L
L
Come
when
we'll
see
it's
time
that
we
move
on
our
years
have
come
and
gone
no
more
time
to
stop
and
think,
and
it's
gone
in
just
one
blink
might
have
other
friends
next
year,
but
I'll
always
keep
you
near
the
we
leave.
This
is
just
the
star
and
you'll
always
have
a
place
in
my
heart,
whoa
a
place
in
my
heart,
whoa.
L
Oh
it's
been
so
long,
but
oh,
the
time
has
come
when
we
say
it's
time
that
we
move
on
our
years
have
come
and
gone
one
more
time
to
stop
and
think,
and
it's
gone
in
just
one
blink
might
have
other
friends
next
year,
but
I'll
always
leave.
This
is
just
the
start
and
you'll
always
have
a
place
in
my
heart.
L
E
Nikki
and
Jolie:
let's
get
that
up
on
Tick
Tock
as
quick
as
we
can.
Please
and
graduates
always
remember
the
place
you
hold
in
each
other's
hearts
and
the
lasting
connections
you
have
forged
here
at
Byram,
Hills,
High
School.
Remember
that
the
experiences
feelings
and
connections
you
have
cultivated
here
will
always
have
a
special
place
in
your
heart
and
know
that
you
will
always
have
a
place
in
the
hearts
of
the
Byram
Hills
Community.
A
A
E
H
M
You
it's
not
a
regulation
size
step
and
for
some
reason,
between
all
of
our
master's
degrees
and
doctorates,
we
can't
figure
out
how
to
position
the
tent
so
we're
in
the
shade.
All
that
said,
we're
so
happy
to
be
here.
I
want
to
first
thank
our
musicians,
our
singers,
who
came
here
today
to
share
the
joy
of
song
and
music
with
our
graduates.
Thank
you
so
much.
This
means
the
world
to
us.
M
Thank
you
to
our
faculty
staff
and
administrators,
who
are
on
both
sides
of
this
Podium
tonight,
also
here
for
the
love
and
care
of
our
graduating
class
good
evening,
Byram
Hills
class
of
2023,
our
esteemed
graduating
class,
and
welcome
everyone
graduates.
Today,
we
crowd
around
you
for
one
celebration
of
many
to
come
and
I
am
honored
to
have
been
your
superintendent
through
this
part
of
your
life's
journey.
M
M
M
My
message
to
you
is
not
about
overcoming
adversity,
developing
friendships,
surviving
or
thriving
it's
about
time
and
savoring
it
today.
I
want
to
leave
you
with
advice
about
what
to
do
with
your
time.
People
try
to
capture
time
through
pictures
and
events
such
as
this
one
and
speeches,
but
the
capturing
were
sometimes
missing
from
the
event
itself.
M
M
M
M
Tonight,
graduates
walk
away
with
a
felt
experience,
take
a
quiet
moment
to
look
around.
You
feel
what
others
are
feeling
for.
You
capture
those
moments
of
Parental,
Pride,
celebratory
hugs
and
Friends,
but
slow
it
down,
don't
race
to
the
end.
This
advice
is
not
just
feel
good
advice
from
some
middle-aged
woman.
Having
a
mid-life
moment.
M
There
was
one
study
entitled
seeking
causality
and
the
links
between
time
perspectives
and
savoring
the
moment
dot
dot.
The
abstract
read
something
like
this.
We
provide
an
initial
empirical
test
of
three
conceptual
models
reflecting
possible
patterns
of
causality
effects
in
the
relationships
you
get
it
in
another
peer-reviewed
study
from
2023
called
be
here
now.
Perceptions
of
uncertainty
enhance
savoring.
The
authors
indicated
that
savoring
in
the
present
moment
draws
from
life
history,
Theory,
effective
and
developmental
science
and
social
psychology.
Frameworks
They
concluded
that
times
of
uncertainty
enable
people
to
savor
the
positives
of
the
present.
M
So
what
does
that
mean
for
you
right
now
we're
in
the
midst
of
an
uncertain
moment
in
your
lives,
when
you're
not
perfectly
clear
about
your
future?
What
lies
After,
High
School,
who
you
will
meet
where
you
will
go
after
your
next
experience
and
who
you
will
inevitably
become
this
uncertain
moment,
is
actually
when
you're
best
able
to
savor
the
positives
of
your
present
life
and
accordingly,
your
ability
to
savor
the
present
will
positively
impact
your
well-being
in
that
unknown.
Future.
M
You've
probably
heard
by
now
that
Harvard
has
an
online
class
called
managing
happiness
and
that
Yale
also
had
a
happiness
class.
It
was
one
of
the
most
popular
classes
to
be
offered
in
the
University's
320
year.
History
now
they've
turned
it
into
a
10-week
version
on
Coursera
called
the
science
of
well-being
two
years
after
that
online
course
opened.
The
enrollment
was
over
3.3
million
people.
M
M
E
N
N
As
Board
of
Education
president,
it
is
my
great
honor
to
congratulate
our
extraordinary
graduates
on
behalf
of
the
entire
board.
I
stand.
You
I
stand
before
you
today
with
a
myriad
of
emotions.
I
will
do
my
best
to
get
through
the
speech
without
crying,
because
I've
already
cried
a
lot
because
of
Lily
and
everyone
else.
N
Okay,
I've
had
the
distinct
privilege
of
knowing
most
of
you
some
from
your
time
here
at
high
school,
some
since
your
Elementary
years,
and
quite
a
few
of
you,
since
you
are
in
diapers
one
of
you
nine
months
prior
to
your
birth.
Yes,
I
have
a
graduate
sitting
among
you
today,
hi
Emily
figure,
I'm
going
to
embarrass
you
at
some
point
during
the
speech
so
might
as
well
get
it
out
of
the
way
now,
just
like
all
the
other
immensely
proud
family
members
here
to
support
you,
I
kind
of
can't
believe
it.
N
We
look
at
you
and
simultaneously
see
the
adorable
children.
You
once
were
the
accomplished
students
you
have
become,
and
the
spectacular
adults
you
will
be
given
how
emotionally
charged
this
moment
is
for
me,
I
was
having
some
difficulty
thinking
about
what
I
wanted
to
say
to
all
of
you,
so
this
seems
like
as
good
a
time
as
any
to
share
the
biggest
secret
your
parents
have
kept
hidden
from
you
all
for
the
last
17
18
years.
N
I
say
this
with
apologies
to
all
of
your
wonderful
relatives
and
Peerless
teachers
who
are
in
fact
wise
and
experienced
people,
but
the
truth
is
life
is
confusing
for
everyone,
no
matter
how
old
we
get
I,
for
example,
genuinely
thought
it
would
be
easy
to
get
up
here
and
impart
some
Essential
Knowledge.
As
you
go
out
into
the
world,
I
looked
up,
inspirational
quotes,
I,
read
poems
and
watched
other
people's
graduation
speeches,
nothing
I,
just
stared
at
a
blank
screen
for
days
and
this
coming
from
someone
who
basically
never
shuts
up
so
that
was
scary.
N
Then
a
friend
said
to
me:
isn't
your
husband,
a
professional
comedy
writer?
Can't
you
just
ask
him
for
help
so
I
did,
and
he
promptly
reminded
me
that
the
writer's
Guild
his
Union
is
on
strike
and
he
would
not
cross
the
picket
line.
Not
even
for
me
thanks
a
lot
Justie,
a
colleague
said
why
don't
you
just
use
chat,
gbt,
Mr,
Walsh
I
have
two
seen.
Terminator
and
I
will
not
go
near
that
thing.
N
All
the
kids
know
you
and
you
know
them.
You
have
literally
volunteered
for
everything
since
I
was
in
kindergarten.
Just
talk
about
that.
Well,
that
resonated
I
thought
why
had
I
volunteered
so
often
throughout
the
years
and
immediately
I
thought
of
my
mom
Judy
being
an
educator
herself.
She
felt
it
important
to
give
back
and
support
the
teachers
in
any
way
she
could
as
a
parent.
She
was
an
ever-present
fixture
at
my
schools,
growing
up
and
I.
Remember
feeling
a
sense
of
Pride
having
her
there.
N
But,
most
importantly,
when
asked
she
said,
volunteering
brought
her
Joy
now
that
I
followed
in
her
path,
I
know
exactly
what
she
meant.
I
am
on
the
stage
tonight,
because
I'm,
the
Board
of
Education
Board
of
Education
president
but
I'm
also
a
mom,
because,
like
all
the
other
parents
here
today,
I
have
been
awed
by
my
children
from
the
moment
they
were
born
and
my
amazement
has
grown
deeper
and
more
powerful
every
single
day,
I've
wanted
to
teach
them,
but
only
to
discover
how
often
they've
taught
me
what
I
discovered
this
week.
N
That
I
didn't
need
to
look
in
a
million
different
places
to
find
what
was
always
right
there
in
my
own
home
in
my
own
heart
right
now,
for
all
of
you,
the
coming
year
is
also
a
blank
screen.
The
process
of
filling
it
will
be
intimidating,
exciting,
confusing
and
enlightening
so
be
curious,
be
open,
learn
everything,
but
when
you
feel
lost
or
overwhelmed
or
convinced
that
you
will
never
fill
that
screen
take
a
pause
and
though
it
might
seem,
counter-intuitive
try
narrowing
your
vision.
Sharpening
your
focus
look
closer
at
the
people.
N
You
love
the
passions
that
drive
you
the
sound
of
your
own
heart,
because
sometimes
the
answers
you're
seeking
have
been
there
all
along.
For
me,
it
was
in
Coleman,
Hill
I
volunteered,
as
the
library
coordinator,
I
got
to
know.
So
many
of
you,
through
your
book
choices,
your
interests,
passions
that
many
of
you
still
carry
with
you
today,
I've
chaperone
many
trips
to
the
Intrepid,
the
Audubon,
even
the
seventh
grade
Boston
and
8th
grade
Washington
DC
trips,
with
my
co-chap
around
and
roommate
Cheryl
Michelli.
N
Where
are
you
Cheryl,
yeah,
hi
Cheryl,
another
amazing
devoted
Byram
volunteer.
Poor
thing
was
subjected
to
what
I
look
like
first
thing
in
the
morning,
bless
her
soul
and
we
are
far
from
the
only
ones.
We
are
so
fortunate
to
have
a
robust
volunteer
program
here
at
Byram
Hills.
If
you've
ever
worked
at
a
book,
fair,
been
the
class
parent
organized
a
teacher
appreciation
lunch.
Thank
you
if
you've
ever
baked
a
nut-free
gluten-free,
brownie
or
cookie.
Thank
you.
N
If
you've
ever
sat
through
a
soccer
game
at
Randall's
Island
on
a
Sunday
at
8
A.M
in
the
rain
next
to
the
sewage
plant.
Thank
you
in
fact,
graduates.
Please
join
me
in
thanking
all
the
teachers,
administrators
parents,
grandparents,
siblings
and
caregivers,
who
have
helped
and
supported
through
along
the
way.
N
Is
this?
The
path
is
the
path
I
chose,
Less,
Traveled
I'm,
not
sure,
but
it
was
the
right
one
for
my
mom
and
it
certainly
was
the
right
one.
For
me,
volunteering
at
Byram
has
brought
me
joy
serving
on
this
board
has
brought
me
fulfillment.
The
fact
that
you
can
choose
your
own
path
that
you
have
a
choice
is
key.
If
you
are
not
happy
where
life
is
taking,
you
move
on
to
something
else,
something
that
brings
you
Joy.
No
one
needs
to
tell
you
all
that
life
is
unpredictable.
N
Last
Tuesday
night
I
presided
over
my
last
board
Education
meeting
as
president
coincidentally,
it
was
also
senior
night.
It
was
a
wonderful,
warm
June
evening
and
we
were
celebrating
teacher
recognition
and
Longevity
as
I
was
calling
out.
The
names
of
our
esteemed
faculty
and
administration
I
started
competing
with
the
bellowing
sound
from
the
movie
being
shown
on
the
football
field.
Bueller
Bueller,
a
smile
came
to
my
face,
increasing
my
volume
to
compete
with
the
movie
I
yelled
at
the
next
name
on
my
list.
N
N
Why
did
I
volunteer
because
I
found
joy
in
it
joy
and
fulfillment
and
helping
out
getting
to
know
other
parents,
the
staff
faculty
and
gratitude
and
watching
all
of
you
grow
and
the
feeling
here
I
go
of
immense
pride
in
collect
in
the
collective
achievements
you
have
obtained
through
the
years
the
iconic
line
from
that
film
States
life
moves
pretty
fast.
If
you
don't
stop
and
look
around
once
in
a
while,
you
could
miss
it.
N
I
didn't
want
to
miss
it
I'm,
so
grateful
to
have
not
missed
watching
you
all,
Thrive
and
being
a
very
small
part
of
what
makes
Byram
Hills
a
great
place
to
learn.
I
challenge
all
of
you
to
stop
and
look
around
so
there
aren't
missed
opportunities.
I
also
challenge
you
to
find
your
joy
in
college,
in
work
and
in
life.
If
something
doesn't
feel
right,
it
doesn't
fit
find
the
courage
to
do
something
else.
N
If
the
people
around
you
don't
make,
you
happy
find
other
people
be
able
to
embrace
humor
when
faced
with
adversity
and
never
be
ashamed
to
ask
for
help
or
afraid
to
lend
a
hand
to
someone
in
need
a
life.
You
can
be
proud
of
one
of
integrity,
stay
humble
and
kind,
and
you
will
continue
to
achieve
great
things.
This
world
needs
you,
the
productive
and
responsible
citizens
of
the
21st
Century.
N
Our
Byron
board
goals
tasked
us
with
providing
you
with
the
necessary
tools
to
go
out
and
make
this
world
better
for
all,
and
there
is
much
to
be
done.
Stopping
climate
change,
fighting
social
injustice,
curing
diseases
and
safely
advancing
AI,
just
to
name
a
few.
We
have
no
doubt
that
you
will
all
make
a
difference.
N
Class
of
2023.
You
have
always
been
known
as
the
small
grade
157
students
to
be
exact,
small
in
number
yes,
but
never
in
accolades,
academic,
Endeavors
or
as
Mr
Walsh,
so
accurately
says
in
heart.
You
should
be
so
proud
of
all
you
have
accomplished.
You
have
risen
to
every
Challenge
and
we
are
in
awe
of
your
resilience
from
here.
You
begin
the
next
part
of
your
journey,
whether
that's
College,
Gap
year
travel
or
work.
N
Whatever
you
choose
to
do
do
so,
knowing
that
you
are
more
than
well
prepared
for
whatever
lies
ahead,
we
cannot
see
what
we
cannot
wait
to
see
what
road
you
take
and
no
matter
the
road
or
where
it
leads.
If
you
ever
find
yourself
a
little
lonely
or
in
need
of
a
good
dose
of
bobcat
Spirit,
please
know
that
you
will
always
have
a
home
here
at
Byram
Hills.
