Speech

team
is
based
in
Huntington,
Huntington,
High,
Speech
and
Debate
team,
and
what
we
do
is
reduce
speech
events
that
are
for
the
NC
FL,
the
National
Catholic
forensic
League,
and
we
compete
in
this
league
nationally
and
locally
in
speech
tournaments
that
have
a
variety
of
events
that
we
perform
in.
So
this
past
weekend
we
went
to
Durham,
North
Carolina
and
it's
a
national
tournament
and
had
around
550
competitors.
I
believe-
and
we
went
to
this
tournament
last
year,
and
originally
it
was
supposed
to
be
more
debate
dense
instead
of
speech
dense.
G
H
When
you
can
expect
to
go
to
a
two-day
tournament
like
Durham,
you
can
see
a
lot
of
people.
People
can
be
intimidating
just
by
their
looks,
but
we
use
tab
room
so
it
usually
keeps
everything
going.
So
basically
what
happens
is
we
get
to
the
tournament?
Everyone
gets
their
places
and
different
buildings.
Usually
the
LD
building,
just
specifically
for
LD,
is
far
off
from
the
campus.
Actually,
so
you
should
expect
to
be
away
from
your
team,
but
still
being
able
to
communicate
with
them.
Do
not
be
intimidated
by
the
people
there.
When.
I
I
They
teach
you
things
like
character,
discipline,
hard
work,
dedication,
all
the
things
that
sports
teach
you,
but
guess
what
it
sports.
Don't
teach
you!
Why
love
sports,
but
one
thing
it
can't
teach.
You
is
the
speaking
thing
and
that's
what
we
need
extra.
So
if
you
can
split
your
time
between
sports
and
speech
and
debate,
you're
gonna
get
everything
you
need
to
be
successful
in
the
real
world.
If.

J
D
Out
loud
is
a
natural
competition
that
has
students
from
all
over
the
u.s.
come
perform,
different
poems.
They
have
studied
first
in
front
of
students
in
class
or
there's
entire
school.
If
you
win
your
school
competition,
you
can
go
to
state
competition,
where
students
from
each
from
each
school
comes
to
form
their
phone,
and
if
you
win
States
you
get
to
go
to
Nationals
or
you
can
perform
columns
and
possibly
win
a
scholarship
or
college.
J
I
think
a
packet
just
came
across
my
desk,
as
maybe
English
department,
chair
or
something
I.
Don't
know
something
came
in
the
mail,
it
was
a
competition,
it
was
poetry,
so
I
liked.
All
of
that-
and
basically
you
have
your
students
pick
a
poem
from
the
Poetry
Out
Loud
anthology.
It
can't
be
like
when
they
wrote
or
just
their
favorite
and
they
compete
in
their
classrooms
and
then
classroom
winners
or
overall
winners.
J
D
Teacher
Miss
look
really
was
told
us
about
the
competition
and
I
thought
it
would
be
really
fun
when
she
had
all
this
in
her.
She
had
everyone
in
our
class
compete.
I
was
one
of
our
class
winners.
Therefore,
I
got
to
compete
in
the
school.
There
was
about
24
other
competitors
when
I
competed,
my
won
for
our
school
competition.
Now
I'm
headed
to
States
and
I'm,
very
excited.
J
If
I
was
going
to
encourage
people
to
try,
poetry
out
loud,
one
I
think
it's
a
challenge.
I
think
it's
good
to
challenge
yourself.
We
don't
ask
students
to
memorize
bodies
of
text
much
anymore
and
I.
Think
you
use
a
different
part
of
your
brain
to
do
that
and
I
also
think
it's
a
it's
sort
of
a
great
leveling
of
the
playing
field,
because
you
can
be
the
smartest
kid
in
the
class
and
not
do
well
with
poetry
out
loud,
because
memorizing
isn't
your
thing
or
a
dramatic
interpretation?
J
Isn't
your
thing,
and
every
year
we
always
have
someone
who
nobody
in
the
class
expects
is
going
to
do
well
and
they
get
up
and
just
blow
it
out
of
the
water
and
people
are
like
so
I.
Think
it's
a
good
thing
just
to
try
something
different
out
of
your
comfort
zone
and
plus
poetry
is
great.
So
you
learn
great
poetry,.
D
Porsha
is
so
much
fun.
Not
only
do
you
get
to
read
about
different
poems,
you
can
learn
about
the
authors
and
the
poem
poets
who
wrote
it.
You
can
just
explore
yourself
as
well.
You
can
hear
poems.
You
can
read
up
and
think.
Oh
I
relate
to
this.
It's
really
cool
and
you
can
see
how
people
from
the
past
I've
written
about
things.
You
feel
now.
It's
really
great
to
express
yourself
to
the
words
of
another
person.
J
No
I'm
very
excited
about
our
winner.
This
year,
I'm
always
excited
about
our
winners.
Every
year
they
always
have
so
much
potential
and
it's
it's
exciting
to
see
how
they'll
compete
in
the
state
level.
But
my
ninth
graders
have
won
the
school
competition
every
year.
So
I
put
a
challenge
out
there
for
next
year's
students
and
see
you
know
bring
on
the
heat
who
can
beat
my
9th
graders.
K
I
have
met
them
in
dark
out
limping
in
one-armed,
I
have
seen
them
playing
cards
under
a
single
light
bulb
and
try
to
join
it,
but
they
are
danced
me
rudely.
Knowing
I
would
only
let
them
win.
I
have
seen
them
in
the
foyer
theatres.
Coming
back
late
from
the
interval,
wasallam
yaps
with
the
others
particular
stink
and
the
deserted
shopping
malls
late
at
night
peering
at
things
they
can
never
buy
and
I
have
found
them
wandering
in
the
wood
for
I
too,
have
wandered
this
morning,
I
caught
one
small
stupid
to
sliding
it
away.
K
It
was
only
a
promise
I
made
myself
once,
but
it's
screamed
and
kicked
at
me
and
ran
to
join
the
other.
She
looked
at
me
with
an
approach
in
their
long
sad
faces
when
I
drew
near
that
they
scurried
away,
even
though
they
don't
sleep,
it's
my
yard
tonight.
I
hate
them
for
their
ingratitude.
I
we've
kept
our
promises.
A

L
Weight
training
program,
Lex
I've,
got
I've,
got
four
of
them
a
day
and
what
we're
trying
to
do
is
create
a
program
in
an
environment
where
everybody's
trying
to
get
better.
That's
not
just
for
athletes.
We've
got
some
people
from
the
artificially
Raider
team
in
here,
which
I
really
like
we've
got
a
lot
of
just
regular
students
aren't
involved
with
sports
programs,
and
it's
been
a
really
good
thing
and
people
are
trying
to
meet
their
individual
goals
in
terms
of
fitness
or
maybe
weight,
loss
and
all
kinds
of
things.
L
E
M
B
N
To
be
necessary,
and
honestly
you
don't
really
that
doesn't
mean
you
can't
work
out.
I
work
out
for
fun,
I'll
work
out
to
better
myself.
I
run
all
the
time,
and
this
class
really
helps
me
out
with
the
days
that
I
don't
really
get
together
the
gym,
but
this
class
will
literally
changed
your
life.
I
mean
you
come
in
wait
at
least
maybe
115
you'll
walk
out
the
next
year
by
the
end
of
year,
maybe
weigh
in
135,
and
you
get
at
least
20
pounds
of
muscle
mass
in
this
program
a
year.
N
M
Advice,
I
would
give
someone
if
they
want
to
distort
lifting,
is
sort
out
small.
You
don't
have
to
start
off
a
real
big
and
work.
Your
way
up,
get
with
someone
who
might
have
more
experience
and
you
it
to
start
off
with.
So
you
can
see
they
can
help
you
and
you
can
help
yourself
by
trying
to
reach
where
they're
at
right.
There
yeah.
E
Give
it
you
gotta,
want
it
for
yourself
really
like
no
one
can.
No
one
can
make
you
do.
If
you
don't
want
it.
You're
not
gonna,
see
anything
you're,
not
gonna,
get
a
difference.
You
know,
you've
sit
around
all
day,
saying
oh
yeah
I
wish
I
had
this.
You
know
which
had
this
body,
but
if
you're
not
gonna
push
yourself
here,
I'm
gonna
work
for
that
you're
not
gonna,
get
it.
