Description
Today, the Huntington Middle School Band celebrated the gift of new instruments from the Save the Music Foundation. The instruments, stands, and other essential items the school has ordered are valued between $20,000 and $25,000. Thank you to the foundation, the WV Department of Arts, Culture and History, and Natural Resource Partners, LP for their support of this wonderful, 200-member band. #BeAwesomeCabell #IAMCABELL
A
Yes,
as
curator
said,
I've
been
coming
to
west
virginia
for
six
years
now,
and
campbell
county
is
one
of
my
favorite
counties.
A
I
think
I've
been
to
burgersville
middle
school
before
a
couple
of
times
and,
of
course,
we
I've
judged
the
capitol
midland
high
school
band,
and
we
know
that
that
all
of
you
there
value
music
and
arts
education
and
we
are
not
for
profit
organization
that
gets
to
deliver
instruments
to
public
schools
throughout
the
country
and,
as
curator
mentioned
west
virginia
is
the
only
state
that
we
do
a
statewide
initiative
and
we're
so
thankful
that
we
get
to
deliver
now.
A
Because
you
are
such
special
students,
our
future
is
depending
on
you,
and
we
are
just
so
happy
to
be
to
play
a
very
small
part
of
just
being
able
to
deliver
those
instruments,
of
course,
along
with
a
great
funders-
and
you
know,
mr
craig
and
and
everybody
else.
So
I
just
wanted
to
thank
you
from
bottom.
A
My
my
heart
and
on
behalf
of
safety
music
foundation,
was
so
glad
to
be
in
west
virginia
in
huntington
middle
school
in
bervis
in
kabul
county,
and
I
cannot
wait
to
come
back
to
west
virginia
last
trip
very
last
trip
that
I
took
was
a
west
virginia.
So
I
hope
that
my
first
trip
back
is
west
virginia
as
well.
Thank
you
so.
A
B
I
forgot
to
say
one
thing:
this
is
our
fourth
set
of
instruments
in
campbell
county.
For
some
reason
I
don't
know
how
it
worked
out,
but
barbersville
middle
got
two
sets
of
instruments.
I
don't
know
how
that
happened,
and
it's
the
only
school
in
the
country
that
did
so
we're
very
happy.
We
got
one
more
school
to
go,
we're
looking
at
next
year
right
and
it's
huntington
east
and
then
we're
we're
all
up
to
date
in
campbell
county
all
right,
so
we
got
a
banner
to
present.
B
C
D
B
C
D
B
D
I
can
tell
you
firsthand
that
how
supportive
the
governor
is
of
the
arts,
his
commissioner
commissioner
randall
reed
smith,
when
he
approached
me
about
becoming
a
partner
with
vh1
for
this
project.
It
took
me-
I
don't
know,
probably
less
than
five
minutes
to
say.
Yes,
because
you
have
a
very
persuasive
commissioner
of
arts,
randall
reed
smith,
I'll,
tell
you.
This
hits
home
our
son,
john,
was
a
member
of
the
band.
Here
at
huntington
middle
went
on
to
huntington
high
some
of
the
best
years.
D
I
can
recall
being
a
band
parent,
it's
so
much
fun,
but
arts
truly
make
for
a
well-rounded
education
and
are
so
important,
so
vh1.
Thank
you
for
your
commitment
over
the
10
years
with
the
state
of
west
virginia
and
randall
reed.
Thank
you
for
your
leadership.
At
the
state,
along
with
governor
justice,.
E
I
grew
up
in
poco
west
virginia
and
I
was
blessed
to
have
wonderful
teachers
in
band
who
gave
me
a
place
to
feel
like.
I
was
welcome
and
a
place
to
belong
and
it's
been
a
privilege.
I
don't
remember
how
I
think
this
is
your
13
in
cowboy
county,
eight
plus
six
fourteen
to
be
able
to
share
that
love
that
they
gave
me
here
and
when
I
first
came
to
huntington
middle
school.
E
There
were
lots
of
instruments
places
and
I
didn't
know
why
there
were
a
lot
of
instruments,
because
where
I
was
from
the
big
instruments
we
provided-
and
I
soon
realized
that
if
I
didn't
have
those
instruments
to
give
them
to
the
kids,
the
kids
couldn't
be
in
the
program
and
when
we
started
here
I
was
here
six
years
ago
there
were
140
kids
in
the
band.
Last
year
we
had
200..
E
That's
not
me,
that's
that's
just
me
coming
in
and
being
me
and
there's
nothing
great
about
that,
but
there's
something
about
putting
an
instrument
in
hand
of
a
kid
or
letting
them
sing
and
that
groupness
that
they
come
and
they
and
they
gravitate
toward
that.
I
spent
a
lot
of
time
at
the
beginning
of
the
year
in
pawn
shops.
E
I
had
the
privilege
of
seeing
that
dream
come
true
and
it's
been
so
exciting
when
I've
got
to
hand
the
kids
the
new
instruments
we
look
forward
to
taking
them
to
making
better
music
together
in
the
coming
years.
I
want
to
thank
randall
he's
a
dear
friend
of
mine
and
I
want
to
thank
t.o
feindler.
E
I
even
though
I'm
I
know
you
were
at
the
state
competition.
I
didn't
get
to
meet
you
there,
but
I
just
I'm
so
appreciative
and
the
kids
are
so
appreciative
of
everything
you've
done
for
us,
and
I
also
want
to
give
a
shout
out
to
the
best
principal
in
campbell
county,
because
he
backs
me
up
with
everything.
Even
if
I'm
crazy,
he
says
how
could
we
do
this
and
we're
going
to
find
out
tomorrow
and
for
all
of
you
here
from
the
board
office.
You've
never
told
me,
no
you've
never
thought
I
was
crazy.
E
E
F
I
just
want
to
reiterate
just
like
to
thank
mr
craig
and
his
department,
mr
randall
reed
smith
and
his
department.
We
truly
appreciate
the
opportunity
to
receive
the
grant.
I
know
the
kids
truly
appreciate
it.
As
miss
carper
said
she
does
best
band
director
by
far
that
we
could
possibly
ask
for.
I
don't
even
mind
to
loan
her
to
cabell
midland
occasionally,
but
this
is
her
home
and
she's
going
to
be
here
as
long
as
we
can
keep
her.
So
we
really
truly
appreciate
her.
F
I
know
our
kids
do
it's
a
it's
just
a
joy
to
watch
our
students
as
sixth
graders
coming
in
and
starting
to
play
and
you
go
to
those
concerts,
and
then
you
see
how
they
progress
over
the
course
of
three
years,
a
very
short
amount
of
time,
with
a
tremendous
amount
of
of
improvement.
It's
just
fantastic.
We
support
the
arts
here
as
much
as
we
can
and,
like
ms
carper
said
whether
she
thinks
she's
crazy
or
not.
I
like
her
ideas.
F
I
like
the
way
that
she
thinks,
and
I
like
the
chance
to
expand
on
our
program
as
much
as
we
can
and
like
she
said,
we're
going
to
try
something
new
tomorrow
night
and
I
think
it's
going
to
be
a
huge
success.
I'm
very
excited
about
that.
So
just
thank
you
board
members
for
coming
today.
I
know
that
you
guys
realize
how
important
everything
here
is
the
rest
of
the
administration
with
the
board
office.
Thank
you
for
taking
the
time
out
of
your
day.
