Hello and welcome back to another destination education episode where the students and staff are the stars. The caldwell school district has been the heart of the caldwell community since 1893, and this week was no different. As the cougars celebrated their homecoming. A time-honored caldwell tradition, class competitions started off with themed, hallway decorations, where students made the hallways look like a tim burton movie.

Each class was designated with a different movie theme. Students said they had alumni staff and community members come decorate and help make the hallways come to life.

I think it's just really amazing to see all these people from school just come together and like put all their energy into one thing: try and like make it great for everyone. It's really awesome, this tradition that we have and that we get to keep it going and kind of make it better as we go and just add, on competitions.

Continued with the tug of war lip sync and powder puff football game. Students also took part in the annual homecoming parade this long time. Caldwell tradition is something the students and community look forward to every year.

Our clubs at caldwell, high school, including sports, will get involved in the parade as well and we march from the jefferson middle school all the way to the high school and all of the different clubs and organizations are all lined up going and all of our family members and community members are lined up along the streets like kind of cheering us on because like at the end of the day, we are a community and we're all going to be there for each other. Despite even our differences.

We are fortunate to be a part of a community that values our youth, their education and believes in preserving traditions that create cherished memories of friendship and learning.

Now earlier this week, I had the opportunity to speak with sean sherwood, the caldwell high school student, who led the project on revitalizing the cougar outside of seringa middle school. He decided to update the cougar as a part of his eagle scout project.

He got in contact with mr free seringa's retired art teacher, who was also the original creator of the design to see if he wanted to be a part of the update.

I was skeptical whether mr free would be willing to help. He retired he's probably off doing his own thing, but I gave him a call and he was more than willing to help out. He was actually happy that I was willing to take the time and help repair his tile work. He loved every minute of it.

The entire project took about two months to complete sean says the community support he received on his project was very encouraging to him.

It was quite nice because I teachers coming up to me like supporting like yeah. I love the idea, you're doing a great job and, like other people coming up and like you're doing that, that's really cool, I'm glad so it kind of like pushed me forward like this has got to be. This is going to be good. I'm happy that people will enjoy this.
