proclamation
as
a
tribute
to
Gail's
outstanding
accomplishments,

recognizing
this
amazing
woman

strives
to
improve
the
quality
of
life

animals
and
citizens,

nature.
Festival
recognition,
the
Maryland,
Osprey
and
nature
Festival
shall
be
celebrated
on
Saturday
April,
1st
2023
at
the
Drum
Point
Club
in
Lusby,
Maryland
and
subsequently
celebrated
yearly
on
the
first
Saturday
in
April
funds
raised
will
be
used
for
Education
conservation,
rescue
and
Rehabilitation
of
Ospreys
Eagles
and
other
Raptors
wildlife
and
nature
projects
that
will
directly
benefit
Calvert
County.

financial
assistance
increase

inflation
costs,

the

Sheriff's

help

adopted
as
presented

the

expressed
its
wishes
to
enhance
transparency
on
numerous
occasions.
It
has
also
been
recommended
that
the
bocc
consider
adoption
of
local
policies
and
procedures
to
implement
the
Maryland
public
information,
Nation
act,
mpia
to
educate
the
public
on
local
government
operations
and
available
resources
without
unduly
burdening
the
county
taxpayers.

the

and
responsibilities

the

was

on
the
County

Staff
has
prepared
a
new
chapter
for
the
county
code
that
sets
procedures
for
filing
and
processing
requests
with
Calvert
County
government
that
strive
to
meet
the
bocc's
directives,
including
the
primary
objectives
of
enhanced
transparency.

discussion,
the
bocc
directed
staff
to
schedule
a
public
hearing
on
the
adoption
of
chapter
96
of
the
Calvert
County
code,
new
business
office
of
the
County
Administrator
public
records
request
software,
the
office
of
the
County
Administrator
in
coordination
with
the
office
of
the
County
Attorney
and
the
department
of
Technology
Services
has
has
researched.
Several
public
records
request
software
to
provide
a
comprehensive
and
transparent
platform
to
Citizens
when
submitting
Maryland
Public
Information
Act
Pia.

Requests
next
request
is
an
all-in-one
platform
for
managing
records
requests
and
has
been
vetted
and
approved
by
the
department
of
Technology
Services.
As
meeting
the
County's
security
needs.

grants
totaling

three
hundred
thousand
dollars
through
this
program.
In
the
past,
fossil
Hunters
searching
along
the
beaches
below
Calvert
Cliffs,
found
numerous
17th
century
artifacts
and
reported
the
location
of
fines
to
the
county.
Historic
preservation,
planner
the
location
of
the
discovery
suggested
an
early
colonial
site
may
be
eroding
from
the
cliff
above
utilizing
funds
allocated
by
the
bocc
to
the
historic
district
commission
HDC
an
archaeological
survey
was
conducted,
locating
and
delineating
the
eroding
site.
A
Early
colonial
sites
are
exceptionally
rare,
currently
only
25
of
the
547
archaeological
sites
recorded
in
Calvert
County,
less
than
5
percent
date
to
this
period.
Collecting
any
data
that
the
site
holds
is
crucial
in
gaining
a
better
comprehension
of
this
foundational
period
in
the
historical,
social
and
economic
development
of
the
county
state
and
Nation.
The
proposed
project
Grant
to
conduct
an
archaeological
Salvage
will
offer
the
opportunity
to
recover
information
significant
to
understanding
our
past
before
it
is
lost.
A
The
training
and
education
grant
will
be
used
to
support
the
HDC
members
and
staff
through
training
administered
by
the
Maryland
Association
of
historic
district
commissions.
After
discussion,
the
bocc
approved
signature
and
submittal
of
the
two
Grant
applications,
Department
of
Public
Works,
durable
medical
equipment,
reuse,
collection,
Maryland's
Department
of
Aging
has
partnered
with
the
Maryland
Environmental
Services
mes
to
collect
and
provide
durable
medical
equipment
DME
to
marylanders,
experiencing
illness,
injury
or
disability,
regardless
of
age
at
no
cost.

The
partnership
between
mes
and
the
Maryland
Department
of
Aging
MDA
provides
for
the
collection,
sanitation,
repair
and
distribution
of
DME,
which
improves
the
quality
of
life
from
Maryland
residents
that
need
DME
Additionally.
The
partnership
allows
for
Waste
aversion
by
preventing
usable
DME
being
being
prematurely
and
unnecessarily
placed
in
a
landfill.
The
solid
waste
division
proposed
that
Calvert
County
participate
in
the
program.
If
approved,
a
collection
site
will
be
located
at
the
appeal.
Landfill
mes
will
collect
DME
from
the
container
at
no
cost
to
the
county.

be
done

and
