this
Sunday
commemorates
the
236th
anniversary
of
the
signing
of
the
U.S
Constitution,
which
took
place
on
September
17
1787
Proclamation
National
Senior
Center
month.
Recognition,
North,
Beach,
Calvert,
Pines
and
Southern
Pines
senior
centers
have
acted
as
catalysts
for
mobilizing
the
create
activity,
energy,
vitality
and
commitment
of
older
residents
in
Calvert
County.
These
three
senior
centers
in
Calvert
County
affirmed
the
dignity,
self-worth
and
Independence
of
older
persons
by
facilitating
their
decisions
and
actions,
tapping
their
experiences,
skills
and
knowledge
and
enabling
their
continued
contributions
to
the
community.

with
sobriety
and
mental
health
While
others
desire
to
preserve
cultural
dance
in
history.
A
few
meanwhile
plan
to
rob
the
powwows
contest
cash
prize
through
these
multiple
facets
filled
with
pain,
humor,
sorrow
and
ambition.

Library
will
be
offering
book
discussion
groups
at
each
of
the
library
locations
and
a
special
Piscataway,
interactive,
dance
event,
dates
and
times
can
be
found
on
the
library
website.

in

hazard
mitigation.
Grant
for
the
demolition
of
a
structure
and
Lusby
due
to
unexpected
costs
of
asbestos
abatement,
Department
of
Planning
and
Zoning
re-certification
of
development
options
for
agricultural
preservation.
District
at
Kinsey's
Ridge
has
reconfigured
the
previously
recorded
Lots,
thereby
reducing
the
number
of
lots
from
17
to
12.

24,
local
Early,
Childhood
advisory,
Council
quality
improvement,
Grant
tasked
with
promoting
School
Readiness,
coordinating
Early
Childhood
initiatives,
elevating
the
quality
of
existing

assessments.
Department
of
Public
Works,
Calvert,
County,
twin
Beach,
Library
increase
in
contingency
funding
due
to
unforeseen
factors,
including
complications
with
underground
and
overhead
utilities,
design,
complexities
and
owner
request.
Public
hearing
Department
of
Public
Works
option
agreement
for
110
Main
Street
Prince,
Frederick
Maryland,
the
bocc
entered
an
option
agreement
on
June
1st
2023,
with
Armory
Road
LLC
for
110
Main
Street,
Prince,
Frederick
Maryland.

The
option
provided
an
opportunity
to
relocate
staff
to
the
new
facility
in
environmental
phase.
One
study
was
conducted
and
has
determined
the
property
to
be
satisfactory.
The
agreed
sale
price
amounted
to
two
million
fifty
thousand
dollars.
The
deposit
of
one
hundred
thousand
dollars
was
tendered
at
the
time
of
signing
the
option
agreement.
The
necessary
funds
are
accessible
within
the
fund
balance
Ledger
account
in
the
general
fund
after
discussion.

boccc
closed
the
record
and
authorized
the
board
president
to
exercise
the
option
by
signing
the
purchase
and
sale
agreement
and
settlement
documents
in
new
business,

empowered
the
Director
of
Finance

to

further

the
bocc
to
approve

up

one

dollars
without
the
adoption
of
a
resolution
and
was
amended
in
2018
to
authorize
budget
adjustments
up
to
150
000.

the

a
resolution
to
streamline
government
processes,
staff
recommended
the

the
bocc
approved
and
adopted
the
resolution
reflecting
the
repeal
of
resolutions
27-07
and
52-20,
and
adopted
and
enacted
the
recommended
resolution
with
revised
Provisions
related
to
budgetary
Authority
and
the
delegation
of
signature
and
approval.
Authority
Department
of
Community
Resources
budget
adjustment
for
the
Calvert
Library
per
capita
increase.

The
per
capita
increase
over
last
year's
State
funding
is
an
additional,
fifty
thousand
seven
hundred
and
ten
dollars
to
support
Library
services
in
the
county.
After
discussion,
the
boccc
approved
and
adopted
the
budget
adjustment
Office
of
the
County
Administrator
fiscal
year,
23
connected
devices
program
Grant
application
round.
Two,
the
state
of
Maryland
has
appropriated
30
million
dollars
for
the
Department
of
Housing
and
Community
Development
to
support
Statewide
Broadband
access
to
assist
in
digital
equity
and
inclusion
efforts
in
Maryland
as
part
of
Maryland's
plan
to
address
the
digital
divide.

The
OSB
has
introduced
the
Maryland
connected
devices
program,
C
ep
the
CDP
provides
grants
of
internet-enabled
devices
to
counties
and
Municipal
governments
to
distribute
to
their
eligible
households.
Eligible
households
are
identified
as
a
household
with
an
income
at
or
below
200
percent
of
the
federal
poverty
guidelines,
households
enrolled
in
the
federal,
affordable
connectivity
program,
ACP
and
or
households
participating
in
certain
government
assistance
programs.
The
period
of
performance
for
the
program
is
six
months
upon
receipt
of
devices
and
qualifying
households
may
receive
only
one
device
per
address.
A
Devices
are
valued
at
198.75
and
a
stipend
of
six
dollars
per
device
is
available
to
the
grantee
to
assist
with
the
cost
of
distribution.
During
round
one
of
the
CDP
application
requests,
91
300
devices
were
awarded
round.
Two
of
the
application
requests
will
award
the
remaining
allotment
of
the
devices.
The
OSB
has
indicated
that
applications
for
round
two
are
due
by
September
18th
2023
and
new
eligibility
applicants
will
receive
priority
for
funding.

Calvert
County
government
staff
have
coordinated
and
identified
Calvert
Library
as
a
distribution
partner
and
intend
to
apply
for
2500
devices
after
discussion,
the
bocc
approved
and
authorized
the
board
president
to
sign
the
application
and
all
subsequent
Grant
documents.
On
behalf
of
the
bocc
old
business
office
of
the
County
Administrator
Comcast
build
out
update
in
August
2021,
the
bocc
temporarily
removed
the
customer
contribution
requirement
between
the
customer
and
Comcast
to
hook
up
any
Resident
in
Calvert
County.
A
Beyond
the
300
foot
requirement,
staff
has
since
worked
with
Comcast
to
determine
the
homes
that
need
connection
to
achieve
the
bocc's
build-out
initiative.
Construction
began
spring
of
2023
with
409
homes.
Slash
properties
identified
to
connect,
98
have
been
completed
as
of
September
8
2023.
over
200
properties
have
been
identified,
fight
as
needing
easements
to
complete
build
out.
Staff
has
identified
additional
underserved
homes
that
can
be
integrated
into
the
current
phase.

government
staff
presents
a
list
of
legislative
requests
for
the
boccc
to
consider
presenting
to
the
general
assembly
in
Annapolis
to
better
support
our
community,
because
commissioner
Counties
have
only
those
powers
specifically
granted
to
them.
It
is
important
that
the
bocc
consider
the
powers
they
would
like
to
have
in
the
future
and
request
the
same
from
the
general
assembly
and
Governor
this
year.
County
departments
and
the
community
submitted
10
requests
for
the
board's
consideration.
Request
number
one.

The
bocc
is
requesting
authority
to
create
a
local
preference
Authority
for
the
county
to
create
a
local
preference
in
the
procurement
of
goods
and
services.
Request
number
two:
the
bocc
seek
legislation
authorizing
the
county
to
regulate
the
solicitation
of
money
within
public
rights
of
Way
by
adding
Calvert
to
the
existing
law
within
the
transportation
article
applicable
in
Allegheny
and
Cecil
counties
request
number
three
technology:
Services
has
requested
that
the
formal
solicitation
limit
be
raised
from
thirty
thousand
to
fifty
thousand
dollars
request.

citizen
has
requested
to
require
state
and
local
government
agencies
to
use
alternative
chemicals
for
de-icing
salt
to
be
developed,
slash
identified
by
the
environmental
Department
request
number
seven:
a
citizen
has
requested
that
boats
and
real
estate
transfer
on
death
without
the
need
to
go
through
probate
request.
Number
eight:
a
citizen
has
requested
better
speed
control
on
Route
4,
including
the
use
of
speed
cameras,
request
number
nine.

citizen

requested
that
a
physician
or
Physician
Group
practice
be
prohibited
from
owning
operating
a
physical
therapy
clinic.

help
support
the
federal
physician,
self-referral
or
Stark
law,
which
prohibits
a
physician
from
referring
their
patients
to
a
physical
therapy
clinic
that
is
within
their
building

citizen
has
requested
legislation
intended
to
address
a
perception
of
conflicts
of
interests.
After
discussion,
the
bocc
voted
to
support
requests,
one
through
four
and
move
requests
5
through
10
forward
for
the
consideration
of
the
Senators
and
delegation
groundbreaking
Department
of
Public
Works
County
Administration
Building,
the
County
Administration
Building
will
be
home
to
a
majority
of
the
Calvert
County
government
employees.

regularly
scheduled
meeting
of
the
Calvert
County
Board
of
County
Commissioners
is
September
19
2023
at
10
A.M,
another
Calvert
County
local
news,
the
Calvert
County
Department
of
Public
Works
Solid
Waste
division
will
host
free
tire,
recycling
events
for
Calvert
County
residents.
The
events
will
be
held,
Saturday
September,
16th
and
Saturday
October,
7th
from
8
AM
to
2
p.m.
At
the
appeal
landfill
located
at
401,
Sweetwater
Road
in
Lusby
all
tires
must
be
less
than
five
feet
in
diameter,
including
rims
and
clear
of
water
and
dirt.

Up
to
10,
Tires
per
vehicle
will
be
permitted
and
residents
are
limited
to
one
trip,
Farm
tires
will
not
be
accepted
and
no
commercial
vehicles
will
be
allowed.
