Medical
Services
week,
recognition,
Emergency,
Medical
Services
EMS
are
a
vital
Public
Service.
The
members
of
the
EMS
system
serving
Calvert
County
are
ready
to
provide
life-saving
care
to
those
in
need.
24
hours
a
day.
Seven
days
a
week.
The
EMS
system
consists
of
First
Responders
emergency
medical
technicians,
paramedics,
emergency
medical
dispatch,
teachers,
emergency
telecommunicators,
firefighters,
police
officers,
emergency
room
nurses
and
Physicians
dive
team,
Personnel,
Aviation
command,
Personnel,
Educators
administrators
and
mobile
crisis
team
members.

The
volunteers
from
Calvert
County
fire
rescue
EMS
have
provided
services
to
the
county.
For
over
90
years,
the
bocc
proclaimed
the
week
of
May
21st
to
the
27th
2023,
be
known
as
Emergency
Medical
Services
week
in
Calvert
County
award,
employee
recognition
committee,
May
2023
Employee
of
the
Month.
The
employee
of
the
month
award
acknowledges
individual
Excellence
for
Superior
job
performance
and
or
special
individual
efforts
that
go
above
and
beyond
the
employee's
normal
job
duties.
A
Carts
budget
adjustment,
the
Chesapeake
Hills
Golf
Course,
was
obtained
by
Calvert
County
government
in
2008
and
has
a
long
history
of
leasing
golf
carts
to
provide
to
its
patrons.
While
the
golf
course
is
currently
budgeted
to
lease
the
carts.
It
plans
to
utilize
that
funding
to
pay
back
an
unsecured,
promissory
note
with
the
county.
This
move
will
not
only
help
the
corps
save
money
in
the
long
run,
but
also
provide
greater
Financial
stability
for
operations.

forward
after
discussion,
the
bocc
approved
a

dollar
budget
adjustment
to
purchase
golf
carts
at
Chesapeake,
Hills,
Golf
Course,
through
a
loan
from
the
general
fund
public
hearing
Department
of
Finance
and
budget
fiscal
year,
2024
Commissioners
operating
and
capital
budget.
A
public
hearing
was
held
on
May
16
2023
at
7
pm
to
present
the
Calvert
County
Commissioner's
budget
for
fiscal
year
2024.
A
the
fiscal
year
2024
Commissioners
general
fund
budget
of
300,
67
million
sixty
six
thousand
three
hundred
and
eighteen
dollars
is
presented
as
balanced
using
thirty
six
point:
five
million
in
Prior
Year's
fund
balance
overall
85
percent
of
the
revenues
that
fund
the
budget
come
from
taxes,
real
estate
and
personal
property
taxes
and
other
local
taxes,
which
includes
income
taxes.
The
FY
2024
budget
continues
to
focus
on
providing
funding
for
Education,
Public,
Safety
and
capital
Investments,
while
maintaining
a
high
level
of
service
to
our
community.

The
most
notable
increases
include
the
department
of
Technology
Services,
the
Calvert
County
Sheriff's
Office
and
career
Emergency,
Medical
Services
EMS
funding
for
Education
Remains.
The
primary
focus
of
this
budget
at
38.5
percent
of
the
general
fund
operating
budget
and
22
percent
of
the
six-year
capital
projects,
budget
education,
funding
for
operations
of
154.7
million
dollars
is
provided,
which
is
a
13.4
million
increase
over
the
FY
23
budget.
Despite
a
decrease
in
enrollment,
there
are
13.76
new
employees
in
this
budget,
including
four
Public
Safety
positions.

This
budget
includes
one
salary
step
and
a
three
percent
cost
of
living
adjustment
for
County
Employees.
After
the
public
hearing,
the
bocc
voted
to
leave
the
record
open
to
receive
additional
public
comments
through
close
a
business
on
Monday
June
5th
2023.

of

Commissioners

May.
23
2023

Calvert
County
Department
of
Parks
and
Recreation
invites
the
public
to
celebrate
the
opening
of
Breezy
Point,
Beach
and
Campground
for
the
2023
season
at
the
annual
Breezy
Point
Beach
Blast
Off
event,
the
all
ages
event
will
be
held.
May
20th
from
5
to
9
pm
admission
will
be
free
and
pre-registration
is
not
required.
Attendees
will
enjoy
music
food
for
purchase
from
local
food
trucks.
Family
games
and
a
spectacular
fireworks
display,
everyone
is
welcome
to
bring
a
picnic
or
use
the
girls
at
the
beach
grills
are
available
on
a
first
come
first
serve
basis.

use
of
gas
grills
pull
behind
grills
smokers,
deep
fryers,
smoking,
vaping
pets
and
glass
containers
are
prohibited,
Breezy,
Point,
Beach
and
Campground
is
a
favorite
Bayfront
Park
featuring
swimming
fishing
and
picnicking
visitors
are
encouraged
to
take
advantage
of
the
public
beach
playground
in
a
200
foot.
Fishing
pier
as
a
reminder,
short-term
and
seasonal
camping
will
be
closed
for
the
2023
season
for
completion
of
an
extensive
Shoreline
restoration
project.
