From YouTube: Cambridge Online - Micro Hubs
Description
This video explores the digital inclusion work that Cambridge City Council and its partners have been doing to support local people with their digital skills. In a city famous for its technology, this work is vital in ensuring that residents can apply for jobs and benefits, access online deals and obtain advice about personal data and IT equipment. The council funds digital support sessions across the city and these are free to attend. For more information, contact Cambridge Online: http://cambridgeonline.org.uk/

The
Cambridge
micro
hub
is
the
group
created
by
Cambridge
City
Council
in
order
to
improve
digital
access
to
the
city's
residents.
The
group
also
includes
Cambridgeshire
County
Council,
as
well
as
other
charities
and
organizations.
The
micro
hub
works
together
to
share
knowledge,
equipment
and
resources
in
order
to
help
those
in
need
with
all
things.
Digital
free,
Digital,
Inclusion
clubs
and
projects
have
been
organized
around
the
city.
A
This
involves
making
sure
digital
access
is
available
and
teaching
valuable
online
skills
to
help
residents
get
connected
and
make
their
lives
easier,
using
email
and
social
media
to
keep
in
touch
with
family
and
friends,
searching
and
applying
for
jobs.
Finding
the
best
energy
deals
applying
for
benefits.
Looking
after
your
health
and
money.
B
Dad
all
come
here
now
to
learn
all
these
learn
all
these
skills,
because
now
on
what
do
I
work,
a
lot
of
charity
and
also
the
only
Tommy.
If
you
keep
it
down
phone
you
up
now
having
it
done
online,
it
certainly
helped
me
I'm
getting
contact
with
friends
and
and
I
still
help
look
like
yo.
You
know,
because
I'm
disabled
either
job
to
do
more
shopping
now
and
I
do
like
shopping
online,
which
I
find
it
hard
hard
to
do
before
so
again,
you
know
anything
about
here.
B
A
A
C
The
good
thing
about
it
is
that
some
of
the
people
are
really
learning
quite
a
lot,
and
it's
mostly
people
who
didn't
have
any
idea
about
computers
before
one
of
our
learners
has
been
thrilled.
Recently,
she
set
up
her
first
email
and
managed
to
send
a
message
to
her
daughter
that
this
has
been
amazing
for
her.
She
she's
never
used
a
computer
before,
and
the
fact
that
she
can
send
messages
electronically
instead
of
by
letter,
is
an
absolute
thrill
for
her.
D
I've
been
a
digital
champion
with
kami
john
line
since
the
beginning
of
the
year,
I
used
to
work
for
a
software
company,
so
this
has
been
a
really
good
opportunity
to
volunteer.
I'm
learning
all
the
time.
It's
a
very
rewarding
role
to
have
just
seeing
people
who
are
perhaps
frightened
of
technology
just
get
to
grips
with
things
which,
maybe
to
the
rest
of
us
look
very
simple,
but
to
them
are
quite
significant
and
seeing
the
changes
it
makes
to
them.
E
A
F
Idea
of
the
project
was
to
help
the
Mayfield
seniors,
who
are
a
group
of
older
people,
age,
65
plus,
who
wanted
to
understand
how
to
use
their
computers,
their
laptops,
iPads
and
their
phones,
so
that
they
could
contact
family
friends
get
online,
look
up
things
and
they
were
feeling
quite
unconfident
with
some
of
that.
So
we
set
up
the
projects
in
the
school
working
with
year,
6s,
who
obviously
used
those
skills
all
the
time,
they're,
always
on
their
iPads,
their
computers.
F
We
put
them
together
and
they
were
helping
the
older
generation
passing
on
their
skills
and
also
there
was
a
bit
of
information
going
back,
so
they
would
look
at
things
like
history,
so
the
project
was
a
great
success.
The
children
really
loved
being
able
to
teach
the
older
people
all
about
digital
skills,
and
they
were
delighted
to
see
how
happy
they
were
to
try
new
things
for
the
older
people.
F
They
really
enjoyed
learning
new
skills
they're
using
their
iPads,
more
they're
contacting
family,
more
and
friends,
they're
being
able
to
access
emails
and
contact
people
in
their
group
and
wider.
So
it's
been
a
really
really
good
success.
They've
got
so
much
in
common
and
it's
just
a
better
way
to
bring
people
together.
Another
way
of
communicating
reduces
isolation
and
I
think
it's
something
that
they
all
felt
really
happy
to
be
part
of
the.
